The Official Young Avengers/Runaways Thread

Well, that and the fact that her powers were a major burden on her. Plus, it's not like the crazyness is something recent. She went crazy a few times in the past, most notebly when she nearly destroyed the world after Vision "died" the first time around. And really, I think the fact that her kids were gone was just the begining of her decent into no come back crazy land.
Yeah, and she'd dealt with it and moved on after the last such bout of craziness in Avengers West Coast. That was one of my major sticking points with Disassembled. No setup whatsoever besides a stupid flashback near the end of the arc with Jan making an uncharacteristically thoughtless remark about children, plus the issue was clearly addressed and put behind Wanda several years ago both comic and real time, yet we're supposed to believe that she was really slipping into insanity over the past 18 months or however long it was? Gee, even the slightest hint of that at all might've been nice. But this is a long and twisted road of regression back into Disassembled ranting for me, so I'll stop now.

When Wanda and Billy talked should she have noticed that somehow? I just read issues 7-11 and YA is awesome. I just hated the art for 7 and 8

Ohhh yeah, that art sucked. it looks like a "BOD Man" fragrance ad minus any artistic slant. Or one of those horrible, embarassing VERB: It's What You Do ads. Ugh. It's just moderately funny that they're encouraging kids to do what Wolverine does.

EDIT: You may not know this, but what Wolverine does isn't very nice. And regardless of whether or not kids copy him, he will still undoubtedly be the best at what he does. Which isn't very nice.

EDIT 2: It starts in July, dee.

Jesus, a guy does a lackluster job drawing teenagers and people turn on him. The "crappy" art from that two-parter was by Andrea DiVito, the same guy who drew the final arc of Thor's last series and is currently drawing The Thing. He's an excellent artist, teenagers just aren't his thing. He was a bad choice for YA's art, I'll admit, but he's still a good artist.

that's no excuse and the annual was pretty cool with so many artists though

What exactly was the deal with the Iron lad allusion at the end? I think it was foreshadowing. See the "Upcoming Runaways spoilers" thread for my fantasy prediction.

Make like mid-crisis DC continuity: screw the average reader. :)

I'm going to miss my YA fix but the CW mini with Runaways just doesn't seem appealing to me.Hopefully they get a decent role in the main mini.

What's not appealing about it? I doubt the Young Avengers will be marginalized in favor of the Runaways or anything.

Any previews/concepts as of yet? Wizard said that clashing of fists occurs.

Seems like a lot of that is going around, my sis likes Young Avengers but knows nothing about Runaways and shes uninterested in the mini.

Sketch from Civil War #2

Looks like Patriot definatly has some powers this time.

I'm guessing that he becomes super from a blood transfusion from Cap.

You know, that begs the question. If you can become a super soldier from a blood transfusion from an already existing super soldier, why did the scrap the program after the head scientist died? Why didn't they just have Cap donate blood?

Wanda did it.

Wanda did Cap?

@#$% you, Avengers Disassembled miniseries.

That art is amazing. I'm glad to have a powered Patriot back. Now he just needs his concept costume from the back of the Young Avengers hardcover.

EDIT: Dude, what kind of helicopter pilot who has any morals at all shoots a gatling gun at a teen?

Hell get a blood transfusion from his grandad... thus making his original Origin story for his powers completely true :)

A super powered teen who could (if he does truely become a super soldier) take on a whole platoon of SWAT officers and win? Hell, it'd be irrisponsible NOT to use a gattling gun.

Its the same thing as shooting a kid with a gun while hes running away, morally unjustified.

Not if he's a wanted and (if he is superhuman) potentially dangerous criminal. Remember, Marvel ain't like the DCU. They don't take kindly to vigilantes, and super powered ones are especially untrusted. 'Course, the Fantastic Four and The Avengers aren't counted as vigilantes since they don't work on a street level, and both groups work very closely with the government and U.N. May not be nice, but it's probably legal.

I can understand the part about being a criminal, since he would be breaking the new registration laws, but "potentially dangerous?" What, did they think that Patriot was going to all of a sudden attack them without provocation or something? That's a very shoot first, ask questions later sort of attitude, and while it might be legally defensible under the new laws -- which are questionable enough as they are -- I don't think anyone can argue that it was very moral.
