BvS The Official Zack Snyder Directs Everything Thread - Part 2

Have you guys discussed Snyder's stupid comments about killing Jimmy Olsen "to do something cool" and why he didn't cast Bryan Cranston?

Is that true, all of it? I need Han Solo to confirm because all sounds like onion article.

This is like a knightmare.

I have no issue with him staying as a creative lead or producer, but add a new director that can make the movie more light hearted and a fun assemble JL movie for all ages. Making the movie less grainy will make a lot more people happy. As much as I love BvS I see that the audience isn't ready for this type of CBM. They want light hearted and fun action pack movie.

Ha, only for today probably. Knowing the controversy surrounding this films is making me hesitant to approach these forums for awhile.
:csad:

SS and WW aren't directed by Snyder. Considering he appears to be the point of contention, I trust most people here are willing to give those films a fair shake.

Exactly. Its a problem on both sides, and it has been a problem regarding other topics as well before this film came out. Its one of the reasons I haven't been on the hype much for the past couple of months. I'm kind of burnt out on the whole atmosphere of fanboy angst.

Me too man, me too. What is happening to everyone? End of days is near or something :cwink:

The thread got merged with an older Zack Snyder thread. I have no idea why this happened. Mods? Explanation please. This is the second time this has happened.

Probably because it turned into a full on Zack Snyder discussion about his directing abilities (or lack thereof for some). :oldrazz:

Basically, Snyder couldn't figure out how to fit Olsen into the story, but he wanted to do something cool with it so he was like "why not kill Olsen"?

Then, they were going to cast Eisenberg as Olsen as "redirect", because people don't expect a famous actor killed. They saw how crazy Eisenberg could be, and Snyder asked his wife permission to cast Eisenberg as Lex instead. They had previously been planning on Cranston. Snyder said it's weird because the movie would have been so different with Cranston as Lex.

So instead of talking to Cranston, they went Eisenberg instead? Okay... Why shouldn't he be fired again...

Actually I'm kinda glad Cranston didn't get it, for his own sake.

So they opted out of a Cranston Lex Luthor so Eisenberg could play a heightened version of every other character he's ever played.

Granted, I imagine the expectation with Cranston was to be Walter White 2.0, but that'd at least be a bit more consistent with Luthor as we know him.

I actually don't think Cranston would have went full on Walter White had he gotten the role. But then again, I don't know if a Cranston version Luthor would have fit this story.

Seriously?! O_o

OK, you know what? F*** you, Snyder. I've been a defender of yours since the Romero remake, but, please just F off as far as you can, and then -- when you get there -- F off some more.

Continue F'ng off until you get back to where you started and then F off all over again. Signed - Everyone.

That's fair enough. And I'm not pointing fingers at anyone... this is a controversial film for valid reasons. I enjoyed watching it but I understand why people don't like it. It has some major problems, so I don't fault them for being upset.

Personally I LOVE Snyder, all of his films. Though I'd prefer they get rid of him really just to make all the people here ****. My god, this guy is like the Donald Trump of Hollywood it seems.

Personally, if the films are making good money, I hope they keep him. I'm selfish enough to want to keep him and not exchange him for some inferior director. Honestly, all this crap just feeds into my cynicism about people. I hope it blows the numbers out of the water as to invalidate the critics and haters as because I really really like Snyder's work.

The funny thing is, the actual humans I know, not internet "fans' are really positive.

I'm just as excited as I was for SS and WW before all the RT nonsense

the fact that we're getting 2 DC movies that aren't directed by snyder is a relief in itself. We need a break from him, and so does he.

Again, and this is just anecdotal, but my dad.... a HUGE superman fan... absolutely loved the movie. We talked about it for a long time afterward. I was really glad he liked it because I was more worried about him being disappointed than I was about myself.

Probably my biggest issue with the film is the editing. I don't really have a problem with the storyline or how the characters were adapted.

The heck? The poll was posted back but then closed so quickly?

Snyder was just :loco: on that one.

Taking this with a grain of salt because it's Faraci writing it.

But wow. Is Snyder a sociopath or something? he executed Jimmy Olsen for fun :funny:

I don't think he meant "it'll be fun to kill Jimmy," I think he meant "it'll be fun to set up a Psycho-like misdirect where a character who you think is going to survive in fact dies." I might be wrong. Snyder isn't the most articulate person, he seems to struggle with what he really wants to say sometimes. You kind of have to read between the lines at points.

What would the point have even been if he did cast Eisenberg in that role?

This statement is true. Everyone on my Facebook feed that isn't a fanboy actually really love the movie.
