I hope my monkeys are that excited about school this year. I'm looping with my students from last year so thankfully I already know them and can start with instruction right away. I've got Open House tomorrow and school starts Monday. Right now (after I finish taking my break) I get to go back to cutting out 100 school houses. Yay. *sobs*

Yup, second grade. I really hope this is a better year for him. I never did tell you my woe story about the first grade teacher. I really have no idea if she was as bad as I feared (not teaching that age group), but thankfully, there's none of the same competitive-type business from his second-grade teachers. I have a better feeling about them.

Anyway, um, back on the topic at hand ... I witnessed the funniest "superhero" battle ever the other day. In one corner -- action figure Cyclops! In the other corner -- action figure ... Odysseus! (I kid you not. Though the action figure is actually some generic Spartan-looking soldier that kidlet calls Odysseus.) I'm afraid Odysseus beat Cyke, too. What can I say? Kidlet is a big Odysseus fanboy.
