The pilot episode is a complete mess! (major spoilers)

the only similarity I saw to X-Men (though I thought it was a big one when I noticed it) was the speach Suresh made in the begining was very similar to Jean Grey's speach at the begining of X1. And yes it's not perfect but I think it can work. I love the indestructable girl and I think I can really start liking the mother charecter with the evil twin in the mirror.

spoiler

the part with the pushing the broken ribs back in was icky.

The Pilot was alright, there were some great parts and some not so great parts. When watching it- the image was really, really dark but this is probably more due to the lighting on the monitor or will be fixed by the time the Pilot premieres on TV.

For those wondering- no that is most likely not the final premiere version we saw. One of the things that told me this straight off the bat- no pun intended- was that it still had temp music. This is music that is often set and edited in to give the composer an idea of what to go for theme-wise.

The first episode, as I said- not great, but good. One thing that I definitely saw was potential. This series could definitely go somewhere and get really, really better along the way.

Thus, the best way to look at the Pilot- in my opinion- is that it's just there to set up the characters, their powers and the world that they live in. Also- keep in mind that the LOST Pilot episode was around 2 hours long. Here it's only fifty four minutes. Same goes for most Pilots typically- the Pilot introduces the characters and their world, while the second has a conflict of some sort. Pilots, even though not officially stated, often are just part 1 of a larger two part Pilot. Best recent example I can give is how Fox premiered the PILOT of Prison Break and the second episode immediately after. Because it's usually a two part deal. Thus, I think now that the first part is out of the way- the second part might be worlds ahead. I definitely think they have something here.

7-8/10

I liked it. Didn't love it, but it's a show I'll follow all the same. Hopefully the characters will at some point begin to weave more explicitly rather than by mere coincidence.

The show is being likened to Lost, and I do hope it doesn't drag with many an unanswered question in the same way Lost does.

i enjoyed the pilot episode quite a bit...

i look forward to episode 2....

i just wonder whether or not america will embrace heroes like it did lost..

can someone put this up on YouTube? for whatever reason, i can't find it on iTunes

Did you guys notice the "Godzilla" type monster shows up just about everywhere. Hiro's computer. The strippers little kids comic. And in the painters loft. I only saw it once. I like the show.

I thought the pilot was good. Not great, just good. The introduction of the characters was done fairly well, and the idea of the
visionary artist
was the best part of the entire episode. There are a few plot holes, most notably that an eclipse is visible in New York, Texas, Las Vegas, and Tokyo. Hmm... no. Speaking of the eclipse, it didn't really seem to have a purpose since
most of the characters exhibited their powers before the eclipse took place.

Hi everyone, I just finished watching the pilot episode and I must say that I am very disappointed. The dialogue and acting is bad, and everything seems to be thrown together. I hope the series gets better, because the Pilot set a very underwhelming tone.

You can watch the Pilot streamed here: http://livedigital.com/content/849501/u47237

I seriously hope that the show gets better. Because as of right now I think that the creators of the show simply wanted to get on the LOST and superhero bandwagon.

Well, I haven't seen anything beyond the previews yet but it looks cool to me.

Watched it.The show looks good.Rather scattered as they were trying to introduce too many characters, though this should be a non-issue later-on..I'll give it a chance, since the problems i have with it tend to work themselves out a couple episodes into the season.

The show definitely has potential. And we all can't be as lucky with pilots as we were with LOST. I hope that future episodes focus on character development in addition to furthering the main story. With so many characters introduced, I didn't really get a feel or liking for any particular one.

First of all, the pilot is a two-parter, so we should see both chapters before making a conclusion.

Second, enough with the "rip-off" thing... The show is not an attempt to create comic book superheroes, nobody is gonna wear spandex (or leather for that matter) and fly superjets... The premise of the show is to take a naturalistic look at what would happen if people had special powers, which is more like Unbreakable than X-Men. Finally, in terms of superpowers there´s nothing original left to be done in terms of powers or explanations for powers. Every cool superpower has been done one way or another and every potential explanation (radioactivity, genetic engineering/mutation, magic, etc.) has been done.

That was basically my feeling, though i do like Niki(mirrors). Not all things are born great.

Yeah, with Niki in addition to wondering about what happened and what abilities she has, I felt more connected to her character because we got to know more about her and her family/financial situation. We got to see where she lived, what her concerns are, etc. I'm hoping that the other characters will have rich back stories as well. Just giving random characters special abilities isn't enough for me.

Wasn't Lost like that too... that is, populated with variegated characters...?

LOST introduced a lot of characters, but the show did it in a way that made you connect with the character. For instance, at the beginning of the pilot you see what Jack sees, and you go with him essentially to the crash site and to the chaos. You're naturally drawn to the character and I was instantly hooked. And then you connect with all the characters as they try to cope and deal with the crash. When I was watching part 1 of the pilot, I kept on going "when is the show going to start?" Aside from Nikki, I didn't are much for the characters from what was presented in that episode. I wanted to get behind the drama of people who suddenly have special abilities, and it was presented in a very "blah" way. Then again, LOST poured a huge amount of money into the series in hope of a successful show. Heroes has potential, and I am simply going off of the first part of the pilot alone. I'm crossing my fingers that this show realizes its potential.

i found no flaw with the pilot
i think each character is fleshed out well, and each one has something unique about them (besides their powers)
Hiro is my current favorite..with Claire in close second
i mean, who else can
stick their hand in a garbage disposal?

The same was said about Incredibles when that came out...unless the show calls itself 'X-Men'...or Incredibles calls itself 'Fantastic Four ripoff +others'...I don't give a sh** about someones rant on why we shouldn't watch it.

...I'd like to see a non-xmen fanboy's opinion on this show.

Personally I enjoyed it. Yes, it reminded me a bit of X-Men but I thought it was more...I dont know, I wanna say realistic.

I enjoyed it.

I'll give you an opinion of a 30+ year reader of comics ... I thought the show was damn good. Period.

True fans of comics should have said "Hell yeah, that was cool!" A prime time TV show about "super heros". who would have thought ??

Go pick up ANY comic book and tell me what similarities that you DON'T see. That is a bad reason to pick this show apart .... There are a lot of good sub plots going that will fuel this show for quite some time.

I think this is special. I don't think it's an eclipse. There has to be a reason that they can all see it at the same time. That the visionary painted it. That it's even on the show's title.

Has anyone seen Surface, Invasion and Threshold? Well, those shows delayed the mystery reveal and they are all cancelled now.

I've never seen Lost but I'm sure they haven't revealed the mystery yet.

I think you're being waaaaay too critical of the show. I just saw it and I think it's one of the most interesting shows on TV. It's nothing like X-Men really. X-Men dealt more with the topics of intolerance and nothing in Heroes resembles anything in the X-Men universe, aside from the discussion of evolution. This show actually reminds me of Rising Stars more than anything, but only vaguely. I thought the show was very easy to follow, and I can even see where it's going a little, unlike Lost where nothing makes any damn sense. I think the show has a bright future ahead of it. It gives you just enough spectacle to keep you watching, but without giving too much too soon. Give it a few more epiodes and I think everyone will be singing in tune about this show.

P.S. I don't think I'd ever want to see a live-action x-men show. That whole Mutant X thing threw me off, and we could never get the action we're accustomed to from the movies on network TV,
