Some of you may not notice this...but personally, I feel that the plot descend into chaos as the film goes on...in a GOOD way.

The film at the beginning have the feeling like the story is trying to maintain some sense of order...everything seems rather simple.

As times goes by, and the joker begins to announce himself to the public, the entire story descend into chaos. It seems like the joker himself is playing WITH the script, making events after events happen...causing more and more chaos in the story...to make the viewers have a harder and harder time trying to follow the story.

Do anyone else feel the same way with the story?

I agree, I don't see how it was hard to follow as the movie went on. Thats what so great about the moive, just when you think you are about to catch your breath, something else happens and you are just on the edge of your seat the entire film.

That's exactly what happens. It happens right after Joker makes his announcement on television. After that things start going wrong. Nolan likes the structure of the story to relate to the happenings in the story. Memento, Prestige both did this.

Maybe I should not say it is hard to follow.

But the plot towards the end is HARDER to follow than the beginning.

Towards the end, there is less and less time for you to calm down and think for a second...like the joker is pushing the audience towards their limits.

Some things work better when there is utter chaos.
The Joker made you question yourself, from the beginning with the bank heist. They were talking about splitting the money what five/four ways?
How many of them were left by the time it was over?

The Joker has a knack of turning you (gang/mob/friend/co-worker) against each other. That's why when the young man, that worked for Wayne Industries, was about to tell Gotham who the Batman really was.The Joker calls in and puts a "bounty" on his head....and what should have went smoothly for that young man....turned into everyone in Gotham gunning for him........priceless

No i get what your saying and I agree its a good thing. The first act or so of the movie seems pretty straight forward like a regular movie...then when the Joker starts rising up and people are taking him more seriously, the plot really shakens up and starts going into directions people may or may not have been expetcing.

The whole film in general is about the city's chaos factor, its Gotham City for the love of the bat!

I forgot what it was about half-way through, something about a china man?

The thing about the money was confusing. He was getting paid to kill batman, but he got the money without killing batman?

The thing I didn't get, Dent claimed to be batman, he went after Dent, he admits for a while he thought Dent was batman because of him Jumping after Rachael, yet, when he goes after Dent, thinking it is batman, he even makes a "hmm" noise when batman appears, apprently he wants cought? So he can set up Dent and Racheal? All while thinking Dent is batman? This is confusing to my small brain.

no offense dude but your second part really didn't make any sense....i think what you're saying is the joker thought dent was batman? and he thinks he's going after dent in the car but then he sees batman on the batpod and is like "oh wait is that dent?" personally i think the joker knew dent wasn't batman, otherwise why would he try to kill him? we know he doesn't actually want batman dead, he loves batman.

as for the money, i thought he had already stolen all the money and the deal was that he could keep it if he killed batman. then he lit it on fire so no one could have it. i don't know. there are a lot of questions i have about the plot and whether or not parts of it hold up...i'm going to see it again tomorrow for the second time to see what i'm missing. i agree it's a little confusing about the chase scene...is joker after dent because he thinks he's batman or is he after dent because well...he's dent? and if he did think he was batman, then why was he trying to kill him? hmm..

It inst until further into the movie he says he's changed his mind though, then issue's his 60 minute ultimatum.

Ed: Yea I think your right, In the station he says he wanted to see what he would do and that he doesn't want to kill him. The "Hmm" think is kinda misleading though.

When Dent is flipping at the end, does he cheat when it's his turn?

I don't think The Joker thought Dent was actually Batman. He just knew where Dent would be and the police gave him a great opportunity to cause mass chaos on the streets.

The Joker playing with the script to make the story harder to follow?

What....

The whole movie was basically trying to showcase what Joker's motivation was, and every time you thought it was something tangible, it wasn't. At first you just think he wants to be the top crime boss, the head honcho, but turns out he just wants to put everyone, both good and bad, into disarray. Everything was going TOO well in Gotham, and it just bugged the **** out of him.
