Fant4stic The Positive Thread - Part 1

In the old times, films are judged solely by its own merits after having been watched and critiqued.

It is not going to be your grandpa's 616 version - this has long been established and should be accepted at this point. If it doesn't interest you, fine. Save your money and don't watch it. Problem solved.

Just because people like me are willing to give this movie a shot until we see something concrete, that doesn't make us trolls and blind followers. That makes us objective and mature.

Again, you're in the wrong thread. Troll elsewhere.

In the old times there was no internet, there was not a place for comic book lovers to come together except at the CB Shop....therefore you did not hear the speculation, the excitement, or the anger, and if you did walk into the shop and were not happy with what you were hearing, you could walk out.

Oh wait....that can happen here as well.

You have a slight problem with your post, where you state, "if you aren't interested." Here is a news flash, those that are angry, that are not happy with what they are seeing and hearing and make it known here.....THEY ARE INTERESTED. They have been interested for DECADES, they have been waiting for a solid adaptation of this comic book FOR DECADES. They are interested....

So, with that said, say something positive about the movie, find a positive article about the movie and post it here, talk about the positive things you have seen and heard about this movie here....BUT DO NOT, gripe because people are coming here to give their opinion whether negative or positive.

Your post is condescending and flat out rude, NOR is it very positive. :yay:

You see, I was a little like you when I first came here in 2004, I was a fan of the comic book on a "slight" scale, having watched the cartoons growing up etc. I was much more a fan of the actors involved, and it drove me nuts that there were so many that were not happy with what they were seeing....but you know what? I respected their opinion, and I learned over the years to understand where they are coming from, became friends with many of them and I can assure you, no one here whats this movie to be great more than those fans, so show some respect of others opinions or move on.

I just handed out another infraction in this thread....

If you have nothing positive to say about the movie, THEN POST ELSEWHERE...

You have many threads to choose from.

1.) Chronicle is, for me, a great movie regardless of the budget. It didn't look cheap at all.
2.) the cast is great and very talented. Miles teller was spectacular in whiplash. Toby kebell is wickedly awesome.
3.) it is an out-of-the-box take on the movie, but that's just me liking nongeneric stuff especially with the hundreds of CBMs coming out with their usual kabooms and pew pew pews.
4.) it has my curiosity with the apparent news blackout
5.) it is character-driven and geared towards a more mature demographic

If people think I will blindly support film because it comes from fox they are mistaken

The trailer is coming almost certinly in february that is when people should be making decsion on film.when they see something.I will trust my gut after seeing trailer.exceperence has been my gut feeling will be correct.I should have listened to my gut on iron man 3,star trek into darkness, and man of steel.

They have talented group making film.

People have every right to not watch film but people who remain open minded
and postive till they at least see a trailer have that right.

No you, but there has been a slight goal post moving.

A week ago, people were saying that it must be bad cause no one is talking about it in interviews or photos, then Vaughn says it's good then, now it's bad cause he didn't orgasm on the interviewer.

It does feel like some people are intentionally making themselves upset at this point. Just have confidence in its failure so Fox will have to give back the rights.

It will be an exciting day when the trailer is released or any official news for that matter :)

It really is. There's so much built up tension from everyone.

No one really knows anything. Snyder's MOS was visually great but that's what I expect, but it surprised me with the faux-Malick camera.

you're right! the tension this movie has brought everyone is insane lol i think the hate for this movies understandable but should really be toned down until we see some footage, then people can have their opinions…(in the right threads of course :cwink: )

MOS was visually stunning especially Krypton.

I don't see how any unbiased person can see this any way other than he thinks Chronicle is better.

Perhaps they understand that words and language can have multiple meanings, and that said meanings are not always the panicky, hasty conclusions a fan jumps to? Just a thought.

Matthew Vaughn liked the movie: http://www.flickeringmyth.com/2015/...een-movie-good-like-chronicle-youll-like.html

"If you like Chronicle, you'll like Fantastic Four" excellent! Another positive thing to mention: when the first casting news came, everyone hated and insulted the cast for being unknown, but now all actors have done gigs you can mention them from: House of Cards, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Whiplash, Fruitvale Station, Snowpiercer, Nymphomaniac, etc. Not A-list or anything, but creditable actors that critics like => positive reflection on reviews.

Agreed. They're all really good actors and capable of owning their roles.

it kinda sucks that trank only has one film under his belt...everyone is assuming that fantastic four is gonna be a carbon copy of chronicle

To be fair, the one person attached to the production that's seen it and talked about it (Vaughn) compared it to Chronicle. It sounds like it IS similar to Chronicle.

I can compare Enter the Dragon to Fist of Furry but that wouldn't mean they are the same movie.

He said if you like Chronicle you'll like the movie. That certainly doesn't mean it's Chronicle with a different title card, but it does imply a similarity.

The obvious comparison which is unavoidable is both films revolve around normal humans getting extraordinary abilities. Part of me thinks he compared it to Chronicle because it's really the only thing Trank has to his name. The one thing that stood out to me from Chronicle that I hope translates to the F4 is the dynamic between the characters. I thought Trank made the relationship between the teenagers feel very real and authentic. I need a real, convincing family type vibe between the F4 to win me over.

I went back and looked at a couple of interviews that Trank did for the Chronicle press run just to see if I could pick up on anything that might occur in the upcoming reboot. I don't think he wants to be known as a one trick pony so I'd like to think there won't be a lot of "found footage" camera work in the film.

EDIT: Also the tone of the film needs to be a little bit lighter than Chronicle IMO...nothing as dark as the relationship between Andrew and his dad preferably.

In an FF film, yeah that'd be preferable. It worked in Chronicle, but it's the wrong sort of thing for the debut of the FF. Something that's a bit disconcerting on that front, however, is the buzz that this is Ultimate inspired and Reed did not have a good relationship with his father in the Ultimate continuity. Heck, his dad sold him to the Baxter think tank, which does seem to be in the film. They could very well go in that direction.

I Know hes producing the film but it sounds good to hear. I hope he and Jane Goldman work on the sequel!

at site that shall not be named they actully have a postive editioral about FF.

Here's a question, since the best thing the producer of this can say is that it's not as good as Chronicle do we even need a positive thread anymore? I mean if the producer isn't on board why should we try to be...

You seemed to have missed a couple of important posts -

THAT was not my point....
It is the positive thread, you got something positive to say then do so, if not move on, it is not "The positive thread so that others can berate and make fun of people looking forward to the movie".... I'm sure having at least one place on this forum that people looking forward to this movie can post and chill is ok, you got 20 other threads to post in, this is just not one of those. So again, post something positive or move to another thread, you got plenty to choose from.

Apparently.....some of you guys are real hard headed and must have thought that 3 mods saying not to stir up crap in this thread really meant - Please, come in and stir up crap in this thread.....well, they were wrong because they have infractions for doing it. The next one gets time off.

I just handed out another infraction in this thread....

Take a week off.

I'm looking forward to the first trailer. I'm the slightest bit hyped for this film.

There's a possibility but I don't think they will focus on the relationship between Reed and his dad too much. I was looking at the cast list and I didn't even see anyone cast as Reed's dad. I think if we in fact do see some of that conflict it will be in a flashback because there is a 10-11 year old Reed cast in the film.

IIRC, that would be about the time Reed's dad sold him to the government in that continuity, though I may be off on that.
