That is true, they may be on a rescue mission that goes awry.

I don't know. My guess would be that Doom can't figure out the equation to get into the N-zone. Reed does, so Doom sabotages it and that's the explosion that gives the FF powers.

Doom sees Reed with powers and goes in on another attempt and sees "into the void" and attempts to use that power and comes out as Dr. Doom.

I feel like the trailer made me feel vindicated about some of the hope I had for the reboot.

Here's a quote from the io9.com comments that sums up how I feel about the haters and purists (http://io9.com/so-heres-what-the-new-fantastic-four-looks-like-in-acti-1682081720)

Wait...you mean [Doom] won't be a Romani who learns how to use magic to get revenge on Mephisto for killing his mother, and later uses those powers to build robots to fend off an evil baron and as a result is granted a scholarship to the same university as Reed Richards, who he blames for the lab accident that left him deformed (when in reality it was actually Ben Grimm who sabotaged it,) then travels to Tibet where he forces monks to help build his suit, before eventually returning to take over Latveria?

I'm trying to be positive about this. Fox studios gave us brilliant sci-fi with DoFP and the Rise/Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Then again, I don't want to be hopeful and end up with another Prometheus.

One of those closer screencaps show that Domashev is with the F4 crew when entering the Negative Zone in the white suits, as we see Kebbell's face through the mask, so that might be their first venture into the other dimension. So the black containment suits might be for later down the film.

In regards to that quote, surely you can admit that Doom's status as an anti-social computer programmer is very disappointing. No one is clamoring for a ridiculously convoluted origin akin to what you described, but a somewhat faithful adaption would be appreciated.

I really liked this shot. So is the cosmic presence in this? That last shot made me think, yes.

In UFF, Doom did reprogram the transporter which caused the accident. This implies that he has advanced knowledge in programming. He is going to be eastern european as well. My guess is, he will go back to latveria and take over as dictator by the end of the fim.

For a first trailer i thought fox nailed it. Im not a FF4 fan and i didnt really care about this movie until this trailer came out. It really grabbed my attention and now im pretty keen to see this on the big screen. I really dig the tone and color pallete being used. I love this trailer more than The Ant-Man.

No but when movies are in a shared universe they all have to have the same tone...which is why most of the Marvel movies are all of the same tone.

Movies can have different tone even if they are in the same franchise or universe. Though I always wanted a X-Men-like tone for a Fantastic Four film.. like a more mature and more serious take on FF and I feel like I'm getting it with this film so I like it a lot! :woot:

I think it depends on what villains Fox wants to use. A lighter take would work better with villains like Impossible Man and Trapster so we probably won't get those in the sequel.

This darker take seems to work better with villains like Annihilus, Terminus, Blaastar and Galactus.

Looking at why ROTSS was such a bad film was because Silver Surfer was far too dark of a character for what was otherwise a goofy, silly film. He stuck out like a sore thumb and was tonally inconsistent.

And as for villains who can work with pretty much any tone, Doctor Doom, Puppet Master and Mole Man can be put into pretty much any adaptation depending on what elements of the character they want to use.

The thing that I love most about Marvel not backing Fox's stuff with merchandising is that there's no chance of Fox forcing a TASM2 or Spidey 3 situation to push toys with a bunch of stupid extra stuff inserted to sell to kids.

X-Men and FF live and die on the creators vision alone.

If Fox wants their X-Factor TV Show, they'll sell their cut of merch sales back for it. Fox gets their TV show. Marvel makes a few hundred million off the Fantastic Four and X-Men.

People are either overreacting on an embarrassing level, or they simply can't admit that something not from Marvel Studios looks good, lol.

The movie looks incredible. The cinematography in particular is outstanding. It looks like a legit film through and through, and the Cronenberg influence makes me even more excited than before.

I was for this movie since day one, and now even moreso. It certainly looks better than Ant-Man, and dare I say it, the trailer is considerably better than Age of Ultron's.

I whole heartedly agree. I had a good feeling about this one from the early stages. The film looks downright compelling, much like how DOFP looked.

Ant-man looks like... Just another marvel movie. I prefer films that put focus on character and story first. The F4 trailer really hit that note.

The film looks great. I was back and forth for a while, but the trailer has me anticipated.

No they cannot. Tone has to match. Trust me on this. I am not just grabbing things out of thin air.

Was a very cool teaser. I liked how serious and dramatic it was. I wouldve like a clearer view of the characters powered up though

The logo is awesome with the Square 4

t certainly looks better than Ant-Man.

I've seen a few say this. Most notably Jeremy Jahns

Is Stan gonna be in this?

Doubtful. He hasn't been in a Fox Marvel movie for quite some time

reg e cathy has an awesome voice

Agreed

If I may, I think that different tones in the same universe can match. It just all falls down to the writing when it comes to make a believable shared universe/crossover.

Look at Arrow and The Flash on the CW. The former is a ''grounded and gritty'' action show whereas the latter is a way more light-hearted and colorful sci-fi fest. However when they crossover, it works and nobody's being stripped from their show's characteristics. They actually resonnate even more.

Same thing with four of David E. Kelley's old TV shows. They shared the same universe and were even set in the same city and yet they were all VERY different from each other, tonally speaking. The Practice was a dark and heavy drama, Ally McBeal was a goofy and over the top dramedy, Boston Public was a light-hearted and ''realistic'' drama and Boston Legal was just... all over the place (which was a GREAT thing !). The multiple crossovers could have been horrible tonally but they never were. The writers just knew how to be clever and how to bring those ''worlds'' together without betraying them.

So, the Marvel Studios formula works very well but I think that it's possible to take another approach to the shared universe business.

As for the FF teaser, the more I see it, the more I love it and wanna see more !

What i do hope to see in this movie is the reaction of the characters being freaks especially with the thing, i dont want them to think that their powers are gifts and they think their cool. Because of the tone based from what ive seen in the teaser i think we might get that.

The trailer reminds me of The Fly. I think the origin will be based on teleportation.

Tv has an advantage that movies do not. The Flash and Arrow didn't come together in a separate TV show. Flash appeared on Arrow and Arrow appeared on Flash....when Flash showed up on Arrow...the show still maintained the tone of Arrow, when Arrow showed up on Flash...the show still maintained the tone of Flash.
Again using the example of the Marvel films.....IM, Thor and Cap all have to have the same tone...and that tone has to match Avengers.
The FF and X-Men must have the same tone so when the FF and X-Men movie comes out no one is adjusted out of the tone of the series.

I'm hoping for that too. No other CBM has really addressed the emotional weight of getting powers. There's been a few scenes here and there usually played for laughs so I want to see the characters have to learn to controls did powers like a person after a long and invasive surgery has to learn to walk again

With josh trank's comments i really think the horror elements come from reaction to getting their powers and how they and others deal with it.

I am now closing this thread...

NOW, that we have news, a teaser, etc....people have something to actually look at, make and opinion and share. So, those of you that are enjoying what you have seen from teaser....share it in those threads. Thank you....
