Many characters are left in question or die in TDK for there not to be new faces in the next Batman.

So Riddler, played by Dicaprio, would be a CEO upset that Batman is spoiling all of his business arrangements. He doesn't like that, not one bit. So, he comes at Batman with the knife. Why...So...Curious?

Dicaprio = Riddler
Joseph Gordon-Levitt = Joker

"The Prestige" had Christian Bale and Michael Caine in it, and it didn't turn out to be "The Dark Knight."

I think it's more possible that Nolan wanted to make an original movie this time around, than do another "Batman" movie. One under such secrecy, none the less.

That's understandable but I wouldn't take anything away from the possibility that this could be it. Nolan is VERY secretive and this might be the best way of hiding, right in the open.

Its actually not that far off of a possibility, i was the first one to post such an idea in another batman thread.

I mean what else have we heard about this movie? Have the actors said anything about this movie. usually movies arent this secretive unless its a really big blockbuster or something. There is a possibility that Inception could be a sequel. Im not ruling anything out just yet

I mean all the names in the movie have been thrown around in one way or another to be involved in Batman 3, so perhaps Nolan is doing this film not just for the film but to get a chance to work with them first hand to see if perhaps they are willing and what they are capable of.

Maybe Nolan dont like Bale anymore so Batman will be CGI. Maybe its a sequel to Juno. Or La Vie En Rose. Or The Aviator. Or a movie version of 3rd Rock from the Sun. Maybe its a sequel to all these.

You don't pen your own script and get a MASSIVE budget after making one of the highest grossing films of all time to, "test the grounds."

Every principle actor involved so far is good at worst (I can't say anything about Tom Hardy, however, as I've never seen him in anything except Layer Cake, in which he was alright). To add to that, every actor involved has a pretty extensive resume. I assure you, this is no "testing ground" for Batman.

Or a Woody Allen film. Or a Stanley Kubrick film (who clearly has had an influence on Nolan). Heck, how much do we know about Avatar? And that's less than 6 months away.

I don't think you need to treat a film like a state secret. But, Nolan clearly isn't comfortable talking about his projects and prefers the secretive approach. In the end, marketing will make sure we know plenty about the film before it opens. 99.999% of people don't plan out their moviegoing a year in advance.
