The Winter Soldier "The Price Of Freedom Is High." The Chris Evans/Captain America Thread

All 90 year old virgin jokes aside, does anyone else find it sad (or even somewhat depressing) that Steve Rogers has yet to experience any real romantic relationships within the MCU? I mean he wasn't really in a relationship with Peggy and his time with her was unfortunately cut short before that could even get to a good place.

Tony, of all people, is enjoying a good time with Pepper, while Thor is catching up on a lot of lost time with Jane. Bruce Banner was at least happy at one point in his life with Betty before things went up in flames with his Hulk transformation.

And granted, while neither Clint or Natasha appear like the type of people to have seriously gotten involved with anyone, I would imagine that they've both (whether with each other or with someone else) have had flings or attachments to at least one person in their illustrious lives.
yes. But maybe Black Widow will help him out.

Well....and don't read this unless you want to be spoiled..

They pretty much stay platonic friends throughout the entire film..no special benefits, nothing....that whole kiss on the escalator was indeed something that they did as a means of diverting trouble.

seriously^ it was all "BW's only wearing a hood! They're famous, that would never fool anybody! and look at how close they're holding each other!!"

as if [BLACKOUT]him wearing glasses and her having a hoodie up[/BLACKOUT] didn't give away exactly what was happening in the scene

The first time I saw that photo I was jealous of that fan because Chris was looking hot.

He should only wear this kind of shirt.

Evans has a great beard. I think they should let him keep some stubble. They are trying to make Cap more modern. I think some 5 o clock shadow would look cool.

Marvel's just have some superb star cast in each of their movies. Marvel Super Heroes Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow were a delight in the grandest sense of the word. The Avengers was nothing short of excellence. And trust me I am so so looking forward to Captain America: The Winter Soldier! The trailer has come out and here I am counting days to the 3rd of April!

So based on what we've now seen of Captain America's abilities and fighting style within a modern day context (The Avengers and The Winter Soldier), do you guys think that Chris's Captain America could believably take on and defeat opponents like Emil Blonsky, when he was just injected with the first dosage (aka the way he was on the Campus sequence)?

Heck, do you guys think that he could go toe to toe with an Extremis Soldier?

Cap is a Super Soldier he's also the best tactician fighter in the MCU. I glad (The Winter Soldier) up his game now let's hope Avengers: Age of Ultron takes even further.

Going into Phase 2, Captain America was probably my least favourite of the Avengers with solo films, though I still liked him. Coming out of Phase 2, he's my favourite. Not just down to the quality of this film, but the quality of Chris Evans' performance.

And to think he's just so anxious about his acting career, wanting to leave to get into directing more…

Oh Chris! Why do you have to make these decisions during what looks like will be one of your best years ever, acting-wise? Plus, you have never, ever looked better. Like, yeah… just …

Yes, dude, you are breathtaking.

Gah!

Personally, I'm disappointed to hear that Evans is burnt out on acting just when he is at the peak of his professional career as an actor, and he just made a movie that may be the best he has ever done where he is the headlining star. Many other actors would've probably killed to have a chance that Evans is having right now. To read about Evans longing for retirement after his commitment with Marvel is over isn't something I'd like taking the spotlight right now.

It really is a benchmark year for Evans. The a Winter Soldier is amazing, and by all accounts Snowpiercer is spectacular too. It's a real shame that he's thinking of quitting the acting game just when he's really coming into his own as a leading man. But I can respect that, him walking away from potentially a whole lot of money to focus on something he's passionate about - in this case, directing. I wish him the best in whatever he does, and for now I'm just glad we get three more Captain America performances from him! And let's not forget that he's burnt-out on acting in general, not Marvel. He's talked about Marvel Studios being the biggest blessing of his career and him being really proud of his work as Captain America.
