The Products' OFFICIAL Transformers Thread for us to ramble on and on about TFs

Yeah, I'll probably end up repainting Megs somewhat, too.

Does anyone else have any TFA toys yet? I came across Bumblebee, Lockdown, Optimus, and Prowl at Wal-Mart today and I was trying to decide which one to get between Prowl and Lockdown, eventually settling on Prowl.

And holy crap is Prowl ever articulated for a transformation-capable Transformer!
I was mostly apathetic towards the art style of the show before, but seeing how well it translates into sweet figures like him and Lockdown, I really, really like the art style now (I literally said "holy s**t" to myself when I figured out where Prowl's legs form out of).

I've heard bad things about TFA Bumblebee's articulation, but the other toys out so far have been pretty good overall from what I've heard.

Spike, can you get some pics of Prowl? I was thinking of getting him.

Yup.

EDIT: Swift edit there, Syn. Yeah, I'll get some pics up. As soon as I can find my bloody camera, that is.

None for me yet, I'm in the UK.

I could buy them on ebay, but... I don't want to pay £20 for a delux and £30 for a voyager. I'm just saving my money so I cna hopfully go out and get a big haul when they're released over here.

Yup.

EDIT: Swift edit there, Syn. Yeah, I'll get some pics up. As soon as I can find my bloody camera, that is.
;) Fastest man alive.

But thanks. I haven't been to stores or anything, so a first hand opinion is best.

Voila: Pictures. Sorry about the fuzzy quality; my camera isn't one for small details.

Prowl's alt mode isn't anything like a real motorcycle, and robot parts are visible from the sides, but it fits with the style nevertheless. The tires can both steer, and the handlebars can move independently (although they don't affect the steering of the wheels). Along with the Autobot insignia on the front, Prowl also has a dashboard in vehicle mode, which even has needles carved into the meters (:woot:). His ninja-star-esque weapons are also concealed almost seamlessly into the front and back wheels.

And, as I said before, Prowl's robot mode is pretty damn articulated. Ball-joints are everywhere (neck, shoulders, elboes, hips, knees, and toes). Aside from being very accurate to the cartoon, it really is neat to see a 3D representation of the toon's style. All of the blades on his ninja-stars are geared to unfold and retract together, which is neato. He comes with a wacky traffic light "chain" weapon that is completely useless, and something that I'll probably melt with a lighter sometime soon, just because.

My only complaint about Prowl is the lack of heels on his feet, making poses a little tricky.

Thanks for the review, Spike. I may get him considering he looks pretty cool.

Prowl is getting a new release along with a side car that supposedly turns into samuri armor.

I dunno wether or not to wait for that one now.

I hadn't heard about that sidecar option before. Interesting, though I probably won't bother with it in the end.

When I go to town later, before I park my ass in a seat for th early Iron Man premier tonight, I'm hoping to pick up Lockdown first. It's going to be pirate vs. ninja on my shelf when I have him and Prowl facing each other. :woot:

That dude's review of Leader Megs:[YT]2NtGDDc_s1Y[/YT]It doesn't seem to be as involving a transformation as I had hoped, but it still looks fantastic, IMO.

Leader Bulkhead.

This guy also has a load of TF reivews.

I've noticed that the guy linked to before with the Leader Megs doesn't seem to actually review the toys, so much as he just shows them and their transformation to the camera. Kinda disappointing when you're looking for "reviewers" to point out some pros and cons to help viewers decide if the toy's worth getting.

Got Lockdown today. It's weird to have a car that conveys equal parts cartoony cuteness (it's like he came from the movie Cars) and muscle-car badassness.

It's time for the post BotCon universe post of details.

First some general stuff. Universe is going to encompase the 25th anniversary of Transformers (the entire history not just G1). Classics will be part of it but so will other lines like Armade, Beast Wars, RiD, and Beast Machines. For the 25th ann Hasbro is reissuing G1 Prime, with a DVD of "More than meets the eye" (the cartoon pilot) and the TPB of the comic mini series. They are also making a new figure of Armada Hot shot, and BW Cheetor. Reports have the new Cheetor with a movable kitteh head and colour changing kitteh eyes. These will happen in 2009. The classics mini-cons are getting repainted and re-released as a 12 pack esclusive to K-mart and are part of Armada. Some classics not shown but disccused were a new mold of Tagetmaster Cyclonus, and Hound with Ravage. They are both deluxe.

Some rough wave information is avaible for Universe. Repaints from Cybertron will have (r) by their name. If I know they are coming but not sure when I'll have (t) by the name.

Wave 1 (August 2008)
Deluxe: Sunstreaker, Prowl, and Tankor (Octane)
Voyager: Blaster (r) and Heavy Load (r)

Legends: Starscream (r), Red Alert (r), abd Onslaught (r)

Wave 2 (September 2008)

Ultra: Silverbolt, Storm Cloud (decepticon Powerglide repaint who's name and colours are based on a micromaster who has the same A10 alt mode)
Legends: Jazz (t), Hound (t), Megatron (G2-like tank alt mode ) (t)

For the rest of 2008 any store exclusives are either movie or universe.

Wal-Mart is getting another exclusive movie deluxe wave of Cybertron repaints. Fracture (based on Go-Bot Crasher), Breakaway (based on Powermaster Getaway), and Crankcase (based on the Triggercon of the same name).

Got Animated Optimus Prime's Cybertronian toy today. I've never had a Pre-Earth Prime before, having gladly passed on the movie's protoform version, as well as the Titanium War Within figure. Man, Prime is sweet, along with my other toys from this wave. I have yet to get Bumblebee, but I very likely will sooner or later. Prime's ax doesn't quite fit onto his shield the way it's supposed to, to form an even bigger ax, but a little whittling with the ol' hobby knife should fix that shortly. Optimus isn't as articulated as Prowl, but he's got a few points over Lockdown's toy's articulation.

On a side note, I just want to say that I am really enjoying the cartoon as well. The worries that many expressed over it being too "kiddy" really aren't well founded at all ([blackout]Hell, Starscream was killed - not just beaten up. Killed - something like 5 or 6 times in the episode Mission Accomplished[/blackout]). It has the same balance of serious action and humor that Beast Wars gave us ("I am Wreckgar! I DARE to be stupid!"), and seeing a very Tick-ish looking Sentinel Prime (who's a real jerk) voiced by Townsend Coleman is an awesome treat.

I'm in love with the cartoon, I think it could be up there with G1 for me.

I can't wait for these things to come out in the UK, the double pack of Prime and Megs was supposed to be out,a dn although Prime has another spinning gimmick, I'm craving anything animated.

they didn'y have any though and TRU said they hadn't had any such delivery :(

Plus, I really want this prime so I can have his Axe on my voyager Prime when he comes out.

The two pack Prime has an equally good one. And Animated has been in limited release in Canada for 2 weeks or so.

where are you guys buying the animated series toys from? I thought they didn't come out until June

I've seen them around a number of Wal-Marts and TRUs, but the only ones released in any of those stores so far that I've noticed are Bumblebee, Pre-Earth Prime, Lockdown, and Prowl.
