The Punisher The Punisher - General Discussion Thread

When it comes to Jigsaw's look, I have a theory... If we take a closer look at the themes being explored in the scene Russo's talking to the psychiatrist while wearing the blank white mask, they're talking about "finding your true self" and "showing the world the face you want them to see". Then in this new trailer, we can see a thematic parallel to that in Frank's arc, about embracing your darker side and "becoming what you were always meant to be" (in his case, it means going back to being Punisher). Now, take a look at the design Russo draws on the mask that he wears later on the season. It's actually a broken glass or jigsaw type of pattern, but it kinda covers the entire mask. That's the face he believes is his true face and that he wants the rest of the world to see. Being a narcissist, he probably sees his scars as much bigger than they really are. By putting all of those bits and pieces together and letting my imagination run wild for a bit, I'm starting to believe we might actually get a more comic accurate depiction of Jigsaw's scarred face at some point... One that will be completely self-inflicted by Russo, once he finally abandons the masks and false faces, embraces who he's meant to be and gives himself the face he wants the world to see. Maybe Billy will actually butcher his own reconstructed face again at some point, this time to a point beyond what any plastic surgery could possibly fix. I can even imagine a Phantom of the Opera moment towards the end where the mask comes off only to reveal a completely messed-up face underneath.

Yeah, I know I'm probably stretching all of this too far and that pitiful cheek scar is all we're going to get. But hey, a fan can hope and I'm allowed to let my imagination flow! Anyway, I'm still open to a new interpretation as long as it's interesting and well executed, and I gotta say that trailer is making the season look pretty damn good.

Yeah, Jigsaw's look is disappointing but I'll try to look past it. Loved everything else I saw there. Bernthal IS Frank Castle. I honestly don't want to ever see anyone else in the role.

The scars definitely will be psychological in nature in the show, no doubt.

My hope is that Jigsaw gets more facial scars if he manages to escape the Punisher again in this season.

I love this now I will be mad if this won't happen :D

My hope is maybe he will scar his own face to match the mask later in the season.

Trailer looks amazing. I have no issue with Jigsaw’s appearance he looks great

I get the scars are not as they are in the comics. But this is starting to sound like a broken record. There seems to be layers to Billy Russo that will pretty much put him in the top 5 most interesting villains in the combined MCU. Hell, based on the S2 trailer, Ben Barnes' Billy Russo appears to be wiping the streets with Heath Ledger's Joker. But somehow the show takes a hit because of what, modern medicine? Sweet Jesus. I could not be more psyched about the upcoming season. What a time to be alive.

man never been more disappointed in a trailer then I was for this maybe the new hellboy reboot not liking whatever subplot the girl is suppose to be and more of Russo just looks like Russo but with a slight scar WOW man
Hopefully the show actually blows me away but what a terrible trailer and where is Micro?

What a great trailer... I can't wait for Netflix to cancel it. :o

Trailer looks very interesting and exciting. Even more thrilled for this than the first season. Josh Stewart's character gives me a vibe that he'll be a stand in for The Holy from "Welcome Back, Frank". So I hear this might be based on "The Slavers" and "Suicide Run" storylines. I need to read those. The approach to Billy Russo's turn looks very intriguing. I dig the mask, though I still hope for that face we all know at some point.

Trailer looks awesome, but its not like you have to do much to sell me though. Loved Season 1 even though it was a bit slow in the beginning and Bernthal's Frank Castle will be sorely missed once it gets cancelled. Very curious to see what they do with Jigsaw this season as well and while I do think the lack of scars is kind of distracting I'm sure Ben Barns will bring the goods like he did last season. Josh Stewart is a nice addition too, especially as a villain.

Most of the reviews I've seen thus far good or bad have said MAX fans will be happy. I'm

Two reviews on RT, one of which says season 2 is better than S1.

I see that the season is going to be 13 episodes. I remember way back there was a rumor it may only be 10, but I guess not.

Was kinda hoping for another thrash song lol but can't go wrong with Alice in Chains
