Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The RATINGS Thread - Part 2

Yeah, plus remember how weak the first 2/3rd of Season 1 was?
It was not a good show at all at that point. Things got noticeably better after TWS hit.

There some folks who keep saying this but it does not make it true.Season 1 to me was really good before cap.2.
Season 1 got better on average after cap 2.
Season 1 is a really good season, and season 2 was better then 1 and season 3 was better then 2.

The writing and acting on Agents of Shield is FAR better than what we saw from Jessica Jones, period.

I don't understand how people aren't impressed with the performances week in and week out. De Caestecker and Henstridge are constantly award worthy good.
Sooner or later there are going to be some folks that will say shows should be have only 5 or 6 episodes instead 8 or 9.
There already some folks complaining about shows with only 13 episodes a season. Some folks don't know what they want.

Agents of shield and agent peggy carter is basically on par or basically on same level of the mcu netflix shows.I really like the netflix shows but some folks get too carried away or go off the deep end.
So when anyone says that the netflix shows have stronger acting and stronger stories then aos and agent carter, i will disagree with them.

So far the RT score for agents of shield is rated higher then most netflix shows.

In order-
Marvel's Luke Cage - Rotten Tomatoes
Rating: 96%

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - Rotten Tomatoes
Rating: 95%

Marvel's Jessica Jones - Rotten Tomatoes
Rating: 93%

Marvel's Agent Carter - Rotten Tomatoes
Rating: 87%

Marvel's Daredevil - Rotten Tomatoes
Rating: 86%
All these mcu shows are really good.
There are alot of spoiled folks these days and folks need to be thankful they are getting this stuff with really good action, really stories, really good acting and really good special effects.

Note-seasons 2,3 and 4 of AOS RT scores is higher then netflix mcu shows and each season of all the netflix shows and you could check the RT scores from audience as well.

Keep in mind that RT score doesn't measure quality, it measures if it is well-liked (meaning, higher RT scores don't mean better shows). Now that often correlates because better shows are liked by more people, but a 100% fresh movie or show isn't the greatest movie or show of all time. If every single critic gave something three stars, it gets 100%. If 90% of the critics gave something five stars and 10% gave two stars, it'll get 90% even if the average score will be better. Metacritic tries to also measure quality, Rotten Tomatoes is trying for something simpler (I usually view it as "what are the chances I'll like this.").

More importantly, there are *way* too few reviews for TV shows on RT to give a meaningful score. Doubly so since the reviews don't adequately account for the fact that you can't really review a season of broadcast TV until the season is over.

Generally, I just can't take seriously the suggestion that AoS is equal or better to the Netflix shows. The quality of acting and cinematography alone are just not even in the same ballpark.

Exactly. The thing that makes Rotten Tomatoes so valuable is the number of critical reviews gathered, so that you can gather a clear consensus. 300 reviews for a big blockbuster tells you a lot. 30 reviews for a tv show, not nearly as much. Many of which, like you said, aren't even reviews of the entire season.

Yeah, the gap is significant. The one thing that Agents of Shield has going for it over Netflix is that it looks more expensive. More special effects, larger and more elaborate sets, more location shooting, etc. But writing, acting, and cinematography are all far superior in the Netflix shows.

Watch AoS or AC and then watch the Netflix shows. Can you honestly tell me they are the same quality? The Netflix shows are far superior in every way I can imagine. I don't even see it as close.

I think it depends on what you want in a show. AoS is definitely lighter fare and more in line with the movies in terms of tone and humor. The Netflix shows are more grounded and serious. I do think the Netflix shows are better produced and pacing is better. But that just comes from not having to deal with a 22-episode season with commercial breaks.

The Marvel Netflix shows are of higher quality (writing, character development and acting wise) than Marvel Studios' feature films. AoS has steadily increased in quality with each successive season I would rate it a solid 7.5/10 and the Netlfix shows are 9.5/10

series low 0.7 rating, 2.342 million viewers last night

pack it up, this is the last season

RT is kind of useless for television because a lot of the time it's only reviews of the pilot or a couple of episodes. And the only critics that will stick around and review a whole season either like a show or are masochists with nothing better to do with their time.

The Cubs/Dodgers may have had something to do with last night's rating. But, still, it's hard to see how AoS gets a renewal. There are about a half dozen shows ABC should cancel based on ratings, and AoS is in that group.

To me, it all comes down to likable, compelling lead characters. Coulson and Skye/Daisy just didn't have that "it" factor, no matter how many times they tried to shake up the status quo of the two.

on the RT thing
another thing I've noticed is season 1's get a decent amount of reviews to come up with a good aggregate

but seasons 2 and beyond usually get like 1 review
so if that 1 review is semi-positive.. boom... 100%

Well, it apparently went up a tad. Literally a tad with an 0.8 with 2.47 million viewers. So, as far as last night goes, it's still above what The Flash pulled.

L+3 Tues Ratings: ABC's S.H.I.E.L.D. is the Season's First Broadcast Series to Post Triple-Digit Growth in AD18-49

Live + 3 Day Ratings for Tuesday, 10/18/16

ABC's Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. more than doubled its L+SD Adult 18-49 rating, catapulting +114% after just 3 days of TV playback (growing from a 0.7 rating to a 1.5 rating) to qualify as the first (and so far only) broadcast program this season to deliver triple-digit growth in the L+3 numbers.

S.H.I.E.L.D.'s +114% lift among Adults 18-49 stands as the biggest L+3 increase for any broadcast program so far this season and marks a playback-high for the series.

The ABC drama was Tuesday's #1 percentage gainer in L+3 playback on the broadcast networks among Adults 18-49 for its 4th straight telecast.

I've also decided to contribute to that. It's far better for me to watch it the next day. I don't have a Nielsen Box so my live viewing doesn't count. But I can watch it online and get some sleep the night before instead.

We've seen this plenty throughout the life of this show. It appears that AoS has a decent sized following, it is just not appointment viewing like The Walking Dead.

Looks like it's 0.8 again with 2.52 viewers.

It's going to be off for a break for several weeks though.

They are trying to bump it out of sweeps. Stick a fork in this show, it seems like a decision as already been made.

Well, obviously, it's off next Tuesday because of the election. What's the next return date?

The next episode is on the 29th (15th is a David Blaine special, 22nd is week of Thanksgiving + (I think) a 2 hour Dancing With the Stars episode)

TV By The Numbers has AOS in the tossup category for renewal with a bunch of shows in worse shape. Once again, relative ratings are always more important than hard numbers.

A twelve episode post New Years limited season brings the series to 100 episodes, wraps up existing story lines and can serve as a lead in to the Avengers movie in May. I'm expecting to see "AOS: Countdown to Infinity" in 2018.

I didn't realize their live + 3 ratings grew so much. I think they'll get another season for sure now.

Conviction looks like it's toast though. Good, bring back Agent Carter. :funny:

That's my hope. I'm obviously not paying for the show, but I do think it would be very, very cool.
