The Resident Evil Thread - Part 2

I just watched the Leon and Chris parts of the demo on YouTube, visuals aside (and whoever mentioned the tearing was right) I thought it looked kind of mediocre honestly and a little bad in spots.

Just played all three parts of the demo. I'm underwhelmed, not impressed =/

Watch the release date being pushed.
I'll be honest. Deep down, I'm kinda happy with these reactions.

Theres no reason to be though. We will never get another title like the orig RE. If anything, poor reception will just push them further along the RE5 path. I can see Capcom saying something like 'Oh, we added horror sections and they hated it, in RE7 we'll make sure to drop all horror.' This series might just be better off dying out. With those AWFUL films and action titles like RE5 and RE: ORC, the RE name just isn't what it used to be.

I actually wouldn't be shocked if Capcom did indeed say something like that Pat. They've been to saying that SH games don't sell in NA for a while now... Any negative reviews it gets will probably be spun into "well.. You guys just don't like SH anymore."

If the game turns out bad... Just let it fade away. We always have Dead Space.

And the REmake. Still love that damn REmake.

Capcom should just "reboot" this series and by "reboot" i mean just release an HD version of Zero and the REmake, then REmake 2 in the same style as Zero and the REmake then they can REmake 3 and Code Veronica in the same styles as Zero, the REmake and the REmake of RE2. Yea.

I never wanted something like the original RE, though. I'm expecting a quality horror from Shinji, not Capcom.

I'm feeling confortable with the harsh reactions because my huge expectations for this game were crushed when we heard about its features. I was expecting something like RE4 (specially when Leon was announced), but we're getting RE5 x3.

If the series continues on this path, then I agree that it should just end. Even if they reboot it, I don't think they'd change the formula. If the fans keep buying RE5, RE-ORC and buy RE:6, then the message they're sending to Capcom is pretty clear.

Capcom doesn't want that. Bethesda, apparently, is made of bolder and more intelligent people. He can do it there.

I'll wager it won't be anywhere close in style to the orig RE games or any other true survival horror title. It'll be more Dead Space than RE. I mean i love Dead Space, but id still prefer my sh titles to be less shooty.

Hope he can pull it off tho.

Looking at the few artworks they released, I get the feeling it won't be ''shooty'' like that, but more like surviving in an creepy and hostile place. We'll see.

Yea iv seen the same stuff and it looks great, but its only concept art. I dont really care if i have to shoot a lot of monsters, i just want the title to focus more on exploration. The orig RE games had you wandering around this huge environment whereas a title like DS was more or less just pushing you through a creepy environment.

Thats pretty much what the RE series has devolved into. Id liken it to a haunted house ride you'd find at a state fair.

Would it be true to say that most Resident Evil titles are good? From the main series anyway.

It's funny, it was hinted Albert Wesker was originally a researcher, but never seen him do anything similar to his main job

There was that amusing shot of him in his lab gear w/ sun glasses on. :hehe:

In any case, I just feel like this series isn't sure what the heck it wants to be anymore. I was kind of worried about this after 5 and 6 only seems more confused.

The first three games out of the entire series are still my favorites!

A lot of information and spoilers have been mined out of the demo, and I'm more excited than ever for RE6! :D

Ditto...although I'd add Code Veronica too, I played pt III and CV 1st and worked my way backwards to pt's I & II...
