Hope it'll have those co-op elements from RE5. You know, like helping somebody get up a ledge, moving objects or kicking down a heavy door together.

I kind of hope not. It made RE5 kind of crap to play solo. It was an interesting little experiment and all, but I think forced co-op isn't the way to go. Just do like Uncharted and give us some separate co-op missions on the side; get to have your cake and eat it, too.

EDIT: Oops. Just occurred to me as I hit submit you were talking about this new online co-op thingy.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City Official Press Release

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City delivers a true third person team based shooter experience set within the dark and sinister Resident Evil universe and a reinterpretation of the events depicted in Resident Evil® 2 and Resident Evil® 3. The setting of the Resident Evil universe not only provides a rich backdrop to the action but delivers a unique and thrilling triple threat battle. Zombies and Bio-Organic Weapons (B.O.W’s) add to the mix as players not only compete against an opposing squad but also tackle this third unpredictable element, creating a brand new style of gameplay and breaking the conventions of traditional team based shooters.

It is September 1998 and the action centers once more on the ill-fated Raccoon City and the horrific consequences of the deadly T-virus outbreak from the Umbrella facility. With a cover up required, Umbrella orders an elite team into Raccoon City to destroy all evidence of the outbreak and eliminate any survivors. Hearing of this plan, the US Government dispatches its own special forces to uncover any evidence that exposes the cause of the viral infection and Umbrella’s actions. Players take on the role of an Umbrella Security Services soldier (U.S.S.), competing alone or in four player co-op in a battle against all the competing forces at play in Raccoon City.

Expect the return of original Resident Evil enemies, iconic landmarks such as the Raccoon City Police Department and fan favorite characters, including Leon S. Kennedy, who as a rookie police officer in Raccoon City is on your hit list to eliminate. Players will experience a retelling of classic moments from past titles Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 and watch the events unfolding from the menacing perspective of the Umbrella Security Service, giving fans the chance to rewrite the history of the Raccoon City outbreak.

In addition, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City will deliver a number of competitive online multiplayer modes. Each one of these will provide a unique gaming experience thanks to the three way combat between the Umbrella Security Service, US Special Ops and threat of zombies and B.O.W’s that could only exist in the deadly and twisted Resident Evil Universe.

sounds pretty cool, but i don't like the fact that you go up against the good guys. if they wanted to re-tell the events of what went down in Racoon City it would have been more badass to have a Chris, Leon, Jill, and Claire team up

Yea i dont like the fact that you can take out the members of the earlier games. I mean i like the idea of playing as a group that works for Umbrella, i think thats a neat perspective but i dont like the idea of killing Leon, so hopefully when that part comes, you'll have the option to not do it.

I'm gonna do my best to avoid killing any of the heroes. I'm still all kinds of happy that we get to play as an Umbrella Security team. This is a dream come true!!!

Yea I love the idea of playing as a group of "HUNKS", I always wanted a full game that featured him as the lead during the events of RE2 and this looks to be that game. I think it's gonna be pretty neat wiping out survivors as well as the b.o.w's, but im not gonna kill any of the orig cast if I can avoid it.

My friend and I already agreed to put this on pre-order once it becomes available. We also already decided on the characters. He's going to be the Tank Beltway and I'm going to play as the modern day Ninja Vector. Now we just need to find someone playing the Sniper and the deranged chick on the team.

And I really don't mind all that main character killing. I see them as the biggest in-game challenge. After all, they always managed to survive the whole BOW mess.

Same here man. I wonder when it'll be released?

Yea I'm stoked, Altho i hope it's better than Confrontation, I didn't care for that one too much.

Yea Vector looks to be the s**t. Spector looks pretty sick too.

I'm looking forward to see what other gameplay elements they offer. Being able to use Zombies as shields and being able to direct them at your opponents just sounds totally awesome.

This game has a **** ton of potential. This, along with RE4 and RE:CV, are really gonna make this fall and winter amazazing

Why would anyone feel the need to even kill any of the original characters?

The only character I ever enjoyed killing was Ashley in RE4, everytime she yelled "Leooooon!"

The killing of the originals is the one aspect I'm not too stoked about, but hopefully it won't be a huge part of the game

I think its a neat idea to go in and rewrite the history but iv never been big into what ifs. So I'll just stick to killing zombies and other survivors, I'll leave Leon be.

But killing one or two characters doesn't constitute being a bad guy... If you can run around slaughtering survivors to get ammo and stuff, thats different, but they haven't really sold it as a morality system, only that you can 'change the course of history'

You work for Umbrella and u can kill Leon. That's the definition of being a bad guy

Still waiting for a game with Barry. The world needs more Barry Burton!

Yeah, I guess.... It just seems like a really minor thing to keep mentioning, especially with the games announcement.
