Capcom The Resident Evil Thread

Yawn. Played Five so much I could speed run with my eyes closed and six was dull. I'd rather get some news on that RE2 remake.

I may rebuy 6 since I sort of want to play through it again and I no longer have my original copy. Such an under appreciated title. Definitely a lot of big flows, but an incredible, incredible combat system once you dig into, so smooth and varied, absolutely amazing. And $20 isn't too bad even if it's just a resolution bump.

I doubt I'll get 4 or 5, though. I like 5, but playing solo in that game really sucks. Unless a friend gets it as well and wants to play, I'll just skip that. As much as I like RE4, I don't see myself rebuying and replaying it again. I think I've played through it enough.

We'll get news about RE7 way before we hear anything about RE2Make.

I don't care for RE5 or RE6, at all, but I'll buy em again just so that I can have RE0, RE, RE4, RE5 and RE6 all on one console.

I'd gladly take some RE7 news too.

I may end up buying RE6 when they release it as I never did finish Wesker's kids mission.

I gave up on RE franchise long time ago, but RE2Remake gave me a new hope.

Why is Jill on the Resident Evil 5 cover? Shouldn't Sheva Alomar be there?

Only played 1, 2, 5 and now Zero so these being re-released is a good thing for me. Will probably get them all at some point.

It surprises me how we still don't have RE7. RE6 came out nearly 4 years ago and still nothing.

We'll get something about it this year. They unveiled and released RE6 in the same year, if I'm not mistaken, so they may be planning to do the same for 7.

If they invested some effort to "update" RE2 they would collectively profit more than they would from all these releases...
Just give people what they want...

It's the cover for Gold Edition, which had Jill.

As much as I like Jill, the cover is a bit misleading.

On another subject, how would you guys LIKE to see RE2 redone? Classic RE1,2,3, CV camera or 4,5,6 style camera?

I don't feel like I can play with the classics camera, anymore. Nor do I want to.

Wow, Capcom really is releasing all their old games. I dont get why they keep doing it out of order. 6, 5 4? How does that make sense?

both. It would be cool if they had it like MGS3S, in that you can switch back and forth between camera types on the fly

My guess is that the newer games are first because they would be easier to upscale. I dunno.

That would mean adopting the Code Veronica style as that game was in 3D and not pre-rendered. That would indeed be awesome.

You realize they are remaking RE2, right? That shouldn't have a barring on this. These are just low cost HD remasters that are probably outsourced.

I don't disagree, I guess, but I was just saying. That's the cover to the Gold Edition with all the DLC they sold for PS3 and 360.

There's part of me that would like to see it in the new style just to see what it would be like. Because we're seen the game done in the "classic" style and it was basically perfect as it was, so seeing it in a new context would be interesting.

But they've done a pretty good job at this point of catering to both "new" and "classic" styles with the series in the last few years, so I think it'd be better to have something for both groups.

I dunno, worst to best? I like all those games, but 4 is easily the best and 6 is easily the worst of the three.

I disagree. RE6 at least had good AI as in your partner wasn't a complete hassle and didn't hinder your experience.
RE5 was garbage at that and was only truly enjoyable when played with someone. RE6 was enjoyable either way. I'd place 5 way below 4 and 6.

I don't think 4-6 feel like RE games. I get that people love 4.. But honestly that was the jumping off point for me.

4 was a game changer to be honest. But I agree it's the point were RE stopped feeling like RE.

Yeesh, both Pokemon and Resident Evil complete 20 years this year.

I'd love to see the fixed camera, it helped more with horror.
They should make an option for both packages, classic style of fixed camera view and tank controls for fans of the old, and third person with modified controls for people who think the old style is unplayable these days.

I agree that 6 is much better to play solo, but overall I think 5 is still the better game. 6 has the potential, but there's just too many flaws that drag it down. But yeah, I agree, to get the full effect of 5 you have to do co-op.

The original Resident Evil came out in 1996. Resident Evil 4 came out in 2005. So, RE has actually been done in the newer style longer than the "classic" style. It's understandable to prefer one over the other, but this whole divide that a lot of fans (mostly "classic" fans) want to make between the two is silly, because there's no single 'RE feel.'

I loved 5 personally, though it was the first RE game I had played since 2, so that might be why. Never played 4 or 6 though so looking forward to playing those.

I also quite liked 5. But not as a Resident Evil game, but as a co-op game. Finished it several times with friends. It was fun.
