The Resurrection of Ra's Al Ghul(discussion thread)

I don't see how that'd work, given that he was raised by Talia and the League of Assassins.

I was thinking that he'd be younger. Like, around three years old. Mainly because having Talia and Bruce fight over who should raise their three year old son would have sucked less than Bruce fighting his own twelve year old kid. Or, hell, they should have at least just made him a messed up kid, and not an actual villain.

Eh, he's just an ill-conceived character to me. He's like a half-assed Cassandra Cain with the worst parts of Jason Todd thrown in for good measure.

I never got the impression that damian was a villain, I think he was actually a messed up kid. The bigger problem I had with the kid was that he was side character in his own arc. I guess the hardcover was called "Batman and Son" but it wasn't really about that.

In that sense I think that everyone's feelings about Damien were tempered by his first major appearance being kinda lack-luster. I already said why I think Batman's son would be good for the series, or at least certain stories. So I won't go into it again.

However, if he gets too close to his son we may end up in a situation where Batman has his own little teenage "Bat army." And that would just be wierd.

I kinda had that thought when I first heard about Ra's coming back. That Damien was just some kind of vessel for Ra's. Kinda like the Batman Beyond ep where Ra's was in Talia. (Holy incest Batman!)

The pervy possibilities of that are too weird to process. :wow:

The first of the crossover event comics out at the end of the month and i wanted to ask. how everyone feels about his ressurecton? i hope the story is really well told and hopefully morrisondoes something great with Ra's and batman. I've read from tony daniel's blog that bats is going to recieve a new costume. hopefully morrison finall sinkshisteeth into the batbooks and unleashes his craziness.

what do you guys think?

I'm not digging Bats in chainmail and baggy pants on a regular basis. Makes no sense in his line of work.

Because he's a wuss. Captain America wears chainmail to the same job every day. :oldrazz:

Is Damien gonna die so Ra's can live?

That's my dream. :(
Mine too, and it was apparently weasely-henchguy's dream too. But like all my dreams, it was crushed by a meddling *****.

Oh, okay, I misunderstood. I'd still not care about the League of Assassins because, really, the only things I'd want to see Damian do are either die or become Batman's worst enemy.
Nope. No 12-year-old whiny ***** has got **** on the Joker. The Joker eats pieces of **** like him for breakfast. Yes, he eats pieces of **** for breakfast. He's the Joker, dammit.

Yeah, weird. Weird like the 1990s.

What's up with the Joker? I though Grant Morrisson's new Joker was decidedly evil and not funny, a mosquito drinking his blood died because Joker's thoughts were so evil, he also tried to kill Harley, but suddenly the Joker from Countdown was the same old character. I don't know which Joker I prefered, I think the Joker is a great villain all-around, but I thought that Grant Morrisson's "Joker issue" was supposed to re-imagine the character.

I don't know. I think I'm fine with the Joker being the same character he's been since the old Rogers/Englehart days, as updated vis a vis The Killing Joke.

What I'm NOT fine with is this ****hole BatCon "definitive origin" story. **** that. Thank God for a decent origin in Countdown. Anybody who says Countdown isn't worth it: it's worth it just to see Waid and Bolland stick it all the way up Green and Cowan's asses. Man, Bolland was even phoning that **** in and he still blew Cowan straight to hell.

They changed the Joker's origin slightly in like two issues ago. I think that's what Aristotle was referring to. But it will soon be revealed that Bruce Wayne's skill and success as Batman actually stems from a totemic bat power.

I'm PINK...Dahling...:woot:

I'd think stealth would be next to impossible parading around in hot pink or orange in the dead of night!

Yeah, but that was a good story, and I don't think it implied remotely that all of his skill and success stemmed from a totemic bat power.

And BatCon isn't a "slight" change. It's ****ing massive.

Does anyone have a link or an explanation about what the hell you guys are talking about?

The Joker origin is in Batman Confidential.

Did you read the Crime Society one-shot? Remember that part where the evil Owlman slashed the Jokester's(then a comedian) face with and Owlarang? Well replace 'evi' with 'heroic', 'Owl' with 'Bat', 'Jokester' with 'Joker' and 'comedian' with 'hitman' and that's it. In a nutshell.

Oh, so the Joker's got an actual pre-Joker identity now? Lame. I always liked his origin as being basically a non-origin. Who was he before the Joker? Who cares? He was a nobody. He only matters as the Joker.

Apparently, he was a [blackout]top-notch hitman, who got bored with always getting away so he kinda went bat-**** crazy.[/blackout]. With some help from Batman. Slice and Dice. My man bats don't shiv.

That's pretty lame. At least the failed stand-up comedian origin was kind of interesting.
