I saw that today in my local comics shop while I was picking up a few items. I didn't get a chance to skim through it, but I thought Brock was not supposed to get the symbiote back until this June in ASM? Is this story told in flashback or something?

good story. very light and true to character as it finally represented the venom i love from issue 300

Yep, this story is set in the past.

Ok, that explains it. For a minute I thought I missed Brock's long awaited return to glory. I have never read Spider-Man:Family, but I might check it out in the future. I only read ASM, FNSM, and ASG.

I like the Venom story. It gave Venom more depth. Dig the artwork as well. I hope when Venom (Brock) is back, there will be more good stories like this

I also pick up Birth of Venom. It's quite good, but I dislike that the some of the issues in the trade are just few pages, not the whole issue!

Yeah...that's the only thing keeping me from buying it, honestly (that, and the price tag, coupled with the fact that I have most of the issues). I picked it up and read throught it, and alot of the Spidey issues are just summaries of what happened, as opposed to the entire issue. Personally, I would have loved to see them collect the entire issues. At LEAST ASM 252-258, Web of #1, and ASM#299-300. That would have been worth my 30 bucks, honestly.

I also own most of the individual issues, but as it's nice to have, bought The Birth Of Venom anyway. And i'm pretty sure it does contain the entire issues for ASM 252-258, Web of #1, ASM #300, 315,316 and 317.

The only summaries are of Secret Wars #8, the FF issue, one of the Spidey Annuals and ASM #298-#299.

I'm not even sure if "summaries" is the right word. As it's mostly full pages shown from those issues, which are relevant to the overall saga.

And to be honest, i'm glad I didn't have to pay the extra price for the rest of those issues that have nothing to do with Venom or The Symbiote.

Well outta that list you provided the only is issue that is not printed in full is ASM#299.

Personally I think the trade works great.

The only symbiote issues not to feature fully from SW#8 right up until ASM#317, are SW#8
and WSM#18, 24. As it stands the relevant pages in those issues are reprinted with an additional summarisation of the symbiote’s app in the comic.

I just finished the issue about Peter going back to his original. Too bad the battle against Hobgoblin is not solved. Anyone cares to give me some spoiler?
