lol Justin Timberlake and Jim Parsons. Two awful picks who will never be cast as the Riddler.

Jim Parsons, Sheldon Cooper himself as Edward Nygma/Riddler I do hope he is cast but if not him then how about Justin Timberlake as Edward Nygma/Riddler?
I wouldn't even watch it, that's how much i can't stand Jim Parsons. Timberlake can't act, so no.

Only the desperate lobby for the role, and they never get it.

I've always wanted Paul Dano to play the Riddler. I think he'd be perfect for a 'creepy' Riddler

Jude Law or DiCaprio could pull it off, with a creepy Riddler in a serious DCU setting

Christopher Nolan had plans for Leonardo Di'Caprio to play the Riddler in TDKR, I think that would have been a fantastic piece of casting. Really hope that happens though I think that ship has probably sailed.

Johnny Depp?

Not an obvious choice but he can play eccentric characters very well and would be much more of a psychological opponent for Batman to face. If Johnny Depp was in it his name alone would put bums on seats.

I'd actually say Johnny Depp is the most obvious choice. Especially after all those rumours years ago.

It's obvious as a casting choice because we've heard his name a lot, but Depp is not Riddler at all. So in that sense, it's outside of the box. I still dont see how he would be a good choice.

I think that was what Warner Bros wanted according to Goyer but not Nolan necessarily.

Big studio heads don't necessarily know the canon or have the imagination to come up with anything other than "Now let's get Riddler right!? He's the next big thing for marketing! Dicaprio is huge so he's perfect right!?"

And that's correct about Nolan NOT wanting Riddler at all. It was a studio suggestion only.

I remember there was talk of DiCaprio getting the role in Nolan's third film. He probably would have been great like he is in most of the films he is in these days.

Johnny Depp, only if he plays a toned down, straight faced Riddler (unlike Jim Carrey).
The character should be dark and creepy, not a silly clown

I hope they don't abide by Nolan's dark and serious standards anymore. Riddler shouldn't be a clown, but he should at least be zany. Not OTT like Carrey, but little bursts of a violent temper and a childish frustration at losing. He should also have little quirks, something that plays on the OCD element.

I always wanted to see Robin Williams as Riddler. Not that it matters much now...

back in his younger days, kevin spacey would've been a good choice. now he's the only person i can see anymore as lex luthor. say what you will about superman returns , but damn was he a great casting choice there.

michael c hall would be another good choice. i made a fan trailer a while back for him as riddler :

Michael C Hall would be great. My top Choice is still Ed Norton

Really don't understand the Paul Dano love. I've seen him in There Will be Blood, Prisoners, Cowboys & Aliens, Looper, Knight & Day etc. and I don't see anything special about him. He definitely doesn't come off as menacing or creepy to me at all. He could be a decent Jimmy Olsen I guess, but not a villain or superhero. He gets alot of mentions on SHH but I don't think he's that good.

My favorite Riddler choice is still Robert Knepper, though he seems to be busy being wasted as the ridiculous Clock King character on Arrow. Now he is menacing and creepy. Plus he could pull off the intelligence of Riddler.

David Tennett would have been a good choice but he's with Marvel now. Michael C. Hall, Garrett Dillahunt, Michael Sheen, Michael Emerson, Ed Norton would all be good choices. Neil Patrick Harris might be able to pull it off but I also worry alittle bit about his dramatic acting ability. Damian Lewis and Sam Rockwell could probably pull it off. Eddie Redmayne would be a good choice but he is too young for the role to me, maybe for the next Batman reboot.

The absolute best choice would be Tom Hiddleston but that's not possible obviously. The scene in The Avengers when he says "I've sent if off I know not where" reminds me of the Riddler every time I see it.
