Twitter. A recurring criticism seems to be that the movie isn't daring enough.

Then again, Ant-Man and the Wasp is sitting at 86% on RT, so who knows.

The french IGN gave it 7.8 out of 10.

Despite a classic origin story, Captain Marvel remains an entertaining springboard for the highly anticipated Avengers: Endgame.

VERDICT

It is obvious that Captain Marvel is not as refreshing as Black Panther and suffers from the many flaws of any original story. The new production of the MCU is nonetheless entertaining thanks to a Carol Danvers as strong as mischievous, a nice alchemy with the character of Nick Fury, and a cocktail of humor and action overall well balanced.

The good thing about that negative review is that the haters can't use it to support their argument since it criticizes the movie for not being feminist enough.

I just don't get it.

Well it has a 6.9 average rating so that tells it's own story. Just because it has a high RT score doesn't mean it's a good movie, it just means a lot of people though it was decent enough to give it a thumbs up and where not put off by it.

That's the same score he gave Infinity War as well (also rotten). He preferred BP and JL over that one, so our tastes don't align, lol.

Oh if he didn’t like IW then our tastes are obviously different. Still not nice to start with a rotten.

Critics have the last word on whether they label a film rotten or fresh. It's purely subjective.

It seems so far the critics that count are leaning toward rotten? Unfortunately there will be a first for MCU, May just be this one and get it out of the way and ease the pressure on the critics for future ones so they won’t be called biased. What matters more is BO to determine how the future holds which I think this will do more than fine.

It is WAY too early in the ball game for that. I have only seen the 1 review currently posted on RT for it and the like, 2 or 3 people linked in here. This is going to have like 300 reviews.

Guys, this was never gonna be some huge critical darling, it's just not that type of movie.

8/10, 3/5 type of thing among the snooty newspaper types is fine. The nerd publication types are probably going to like it more than that, but this isn't going to be The Dark Knight/Logan type of review numbers. Doesn't need to be, it's more just basic-but-competent-genre-movie fare.

Feels like a high 70s/low to mid 80s type movie. Hopefully it's more of the latter and not the former.
