Spider-Man: Homecoming Final Rotten Tomatoes Score?

Has it been noted that 3/4 of the reviewers who gave Homecoming a rotten review rated ASM 2 as fresh? The other guy didn't even review ASM 2.

Yep. I think high personal stakes that are unrelated to anything external wouldn't feel quite right with Infinity War around the corner and the biggest stakes of all. It make sense in Ragnarok as that ties into it.

Saying something is graded on a curve because it stars a woman is putting an asterisk next to the movie's popularity and success. And I don't think people were enjoying it on a curve. It's amazing legs at the box office and wild word of mouth is because it clicked with people, including critics, in a fairly unique way, and not because moviegoers were choosing to spend money on it for multiple views due to "lowering the bar" on a gender basis. Just as it seems critics are liking Homecoming, and not because it is Marvel Studios and thus is graded on a curve. It is because it appealed to most critics' sensibilities far better than the last three Spidey movies.

Sometimes 3D gives a movie novelty like Avatar or team dynamics like Avengers or the first Spider-man movie.

It's important because once the novelty factor is gone the sequel usually drop in box office performance. Or maybe it enhanced the buzz and viewing experience for the audience.

It's not malicious or misogynist or anything bad.

Deadpool is another good example. And I love that movie but it benefited from novelty.

You're not wrong about Avatar. I just think the novelty might be more in the quality of the movie and the character, and the assumption that it is only due to her gender appears questionable at the very, very least.

I wouldn't call it a novelty but this being the first female superhero to actually be executed correctly, as well as the first decent DCEU movie made it safe to quite a few of its flaws. At least as far as I saw.

Dustin is a fan of that movie, Scott Mendelson though it average, I don't know who number three is.

During post production for The Avengers they were going to add the Oscorp building in the NY skyline but didn't end up doing it because the model for the building wasn't finished in time.

Other than that, I think that was the only indication (that we know of anyway) that Marvel and Sony were going to collaborate early prior to Civil War.

It's not questionable, it's supply and demand. There was high demand for a CBM that featured a female lead that didn't suck, and there was high demand for a Wonder Woman film being made after years of waiting. It's not sexist at all to say that it's succeeding because it met those demands, in the same way that Superman The Movie, Batman '89, and Spider-man 1 all did, all of them being huge box office hits for those characters, and being the most iconic among the public awareness.
 
Actually we're up to 47 fresh now.

I feel there's a good chance that Ragnorok might pull that off in a few months.

But in regards to Spider-Man, I'm glad that the reception is as positive as it is so far.
