According to my calculations (which could be wrong), this would need to get eight more continuous fresh reviews to get up to 94%. Something tells me 93% might be the highest it'll go, ending around late 80s.

If Homecoming ends up in the 90s that would be amazing. But it's exactly what was needed for Spider-Man. With all the pressure on this film to succeed it couldn't just be 'better' than some of the previous movies. SM2 is the crown jewel for Spidey movies and Feige and Marvel knew it so they acknowledged that and looks like they aimed for that benchmark. Homecoming needed to be a solid film. Hard to top SM2 but based on the reviews so far it looks like they've accomplished what they set out to do. It's exciting to feel good again about Spider-Man in cinema. Got my tickets for the 8th...so pumped for this.

Your calcs are wrong. It is currently at 93.4% (71/76). Just ONE more positive puts it at 93.5% (72/77), which is officially 94%. RT rounds. That's how it works.

The only CBM to get above 92 since 2008 is Logan, so I think the highest this could go is 90-91.

I feel like that is a little critic fatigue no? If some of the films in recent years came out 10 years ago they'd surely be several percent points higher.

Even this film when I've seen reviews it just seems like if there weren't 5 other Spider-Man films they'd have be scored it higher even though they re scoring it highly

90s is high territory for films in general though. There are many very good non CBM films that have not made it into the 90s.

But I do agree there is likely to be some Spidey fatigue in general leading up to this film after 5 Spidey films in not too long a period, and ending with the abomination that is TASM2.

Ahh ok, didn't know it rounded like that. Nice!

Anything in the 90s is pretty much "must-see" territory.

Either way, the MCU is on a crazy streak. This will be their fifth movie in a row with an 80+ rating.

I think the fatigue, if any, comes from people tired of mediocre to bad spidey movies. I don't think there's fatigue for Spider-Man himself. Marvel needed to swing for the fences with this movie. I can't imagine what another so-so film or even bad film might have done to Spidey's rep on the big screen. A high quality movie will bring back the audiences and it appears marvel has in fact done just that--good wom should prevail.

I still find SM3 and TASM watchable/fun but TASM2 absolutely destroyed my Spidey interest until we saw him in CW. I was really excited by the first Homecoming teaser but my hype waned from then on for some reason. So good to see this being received so well. Now just need Sony not to F things up.

Yeah for me the problems can probably be tracked back to SM3. It was a film that was following two films in the genre that had really raised the bar for CBM's it probably never could live up to the hype surrounding it and the issues that supposedly happened like the suits forcing characters the director didnt want to use into it never helps things. I'm sure a lot of people got something out of ASM and ASM2 but for me the first was too much of a retread and the second was just odd with several issues but as ever, each to their own on that.

But Spidey was the first comic book character I got into and while as you get older you might move onto more mature material, darker themed, your X-Men/Daredevil/Punishers of this world, Spidey will always have place as being the first and Peter Parker, when done right, is just a likeable, relateable character. At least thats how it worked out for me, so next week will be great fun it looks like.

Yes, the quality of the recent Spidey films is surely the main reason. But when that is spread out over decades then people are more wiling to give reboots a chance, rather than failed reboot after reboot without any breathing room.

Another TASM2 would have been it for many I think. This was probably last chacne saloon for some and luckily it looks like it's made the most of that opportunity.

Yes I think most people agree that the issues started with SM3 (even though I can enjoy watching it still). For me TASM was fine but TASM2 was by a long way the worst of the Spidey films. Just glad we are finally getting a film that can live up to SM1 & 2.

Oh very nice! Time for some consolidation now hopefully with some of the reviews we knew were going to be negative out of the way.

Hold it steady, Spidey.

Nice, so what are the chances it goes to 95? >__>

It'd need 16 fresh in a row. So not high. But this is boding well for it staying in the 90s after 200-300 reviews.

Yeah we got a reboot a lot of people didn't want followed by a movie that a lot of people felt like didn't do enough new followed then by a movie that a lot of people think sucked. If this was the first reboot instead of the 2nd reboot or if Amazing Spider-Man 1 and 2 had been considered a lot better I don't think this would really be a issue. Spider-Man 3 and amazing Spider-Man 1-2 did a lot of damaged to Spider-Man. Even if this movie only makes like 700 million if it gets really good/great reception from the fans like how it I from the critis then the sequel is going to take off and make way way more. When it comes to movies the success or lack of from the movie before is always going to have a impact on the next one.

I would say pretty low it needs a good amount of fresh reviews in a row to get to 95 and normally the more reviews a movie gets the lower its score gets even for movies with great scores. At the same time it didn't start with its reviews being from OS places and a lot of movies that start with OS reviews before USA tend to drop like 5-10 once those USA reviews start to come out. So that is a advantage.

Yeah 90 or better for any movie. I don't know how many movies come out ever year and how many of those movies get a 90 but I know the % of movies that do is pretty darn low.

What do you guys think its average score will end at? It could be cool if it could get to 8.0 has only 4 CBM have done that but at 7.6 after 77 reviews that is unlikely.

This is how the Spider-Man movies look when it comes to its RT score, average score and top critics scores.
Spider-Man- 89%-7.7-7.3
Spider-Man 2-94%-8.3-8.3
Spider-Man 3-63%-6.2-5.5
Amazing Spider-Man-72%-6.7-6.7
Amazing Spider-Man 2-52%-5.8-5.6

Right now homecoming is like this so far.
94%-7.6-7.8
Its average score is similer to Spider-Man so does that mean it is going to get a 89% score like Spider-Man lol.

Actually it's 5 CBM TDKR also got an 8.0 average.

Oh wow it did didn't realize that has a high average for a movie with a lower then 90% RT score has it is at 87%. It must have had a lot of like 3 out of 5 scores that were considered rotten or something instead of like 2.5 or 2 out of 5 that helped its average score.

I think this is pretty much it until the 7th.
We'll get maybe one or two more reviews but that won't change much (unless it's 2 negative ones), and then the we'll see where it ends up when the movie is officially out.

They are not going to want for the day the movie comes out to have more reviews lol. Come Monday we should start getting more reviews and by like wed we should have a lot more reviews.
