80s is way more than rspectable. I'm sorry, i just can't stand some of you treating a comic book movie in the 80s like a run of the mill score. Out of the 60-70 cbms inj existence how many of them have gotten a score above 80s? 20% of them?

Respectable imo doesn't equate to 'run of the mill' so not sure where you are getting that correlation. I never stated anything close to that. However, the standard for CBMs has been raised and thus the expectations for what is a good or great movie in this genre has also been raised.

I wonder what the chances are that this will receive a rotten score, because I'm kind of hoping it does.

So TWS with a 89% is above average??? I don't think so. The same goes with Batman Begins. Anything above 80% is pretty good/great.

Well, I mean, its technically true. The Winter Soldier *is* "above average". Its just, one, its *very* above average, not just a little bit, and two, the MCU average is extremely good to start with. ;)

In terms of movies overall? 89% isn't "above average", its "extremely good". Its an A-, not a C+.

Why do you want another Spider-Man movie to fail? Literally, I'd be even more depressed than I already am. :o

Because of all the crap I've been hearing about the movie.

So what? I'm not loving everything I've been hearing about the movie but that doesn't mean I'm writing it off and hoping for it to fail, I can accept any changes if the movie is great. I want another great Spider-Man movie, and if it isn't that's just bad for the character.

I haven't liked any of the spider-man movies so far, and I haven't liked anything I've heard about this movie so far.

They're changing just way too much stuff for no other reason than to differentiate it from what's come before, particularly with Flash and MJ (which confirms my earlier worries that we'll never see a proper version of her character in the MCU).

I hope this movie tanks so hard (even though it probably won't)

Has it? last years half of them were panned and 2 of them sith some of the worst rt scores in the genre. 2 years ago one of the most critically panned cbm (F4) was released. I*t seems to me that the bar is right were it always was. Some really good and some really bad. The amount of cbms that are above 80% in the past years is fewer than the amount that is above that amount sooo... The bar is right where it was.

Some movies definately raised the bar though, like Avengers or The Dark Knight. So the failures like BvS or F4 are even more apparent and perfectly good movies like Iron Man 3 or Age of Ultron are unfairly perceived as disappointments.

There's no truth in the caricature that fanboys/fangirls seem to go out of their way to be hard to please, capricious pedants. :o

Literally 0. The MCU has reached the point where they no longer have to worry about rotten scores, but if the score will dip below 90 or 80%. :whatever:

Hate to have to be the one to say it... But why are you here? You're just seeking attention if you're wanting the movie to fail and telling everyone about it. You're only going to attract hate with posts like that. That's pretty sad that just because you don't think you're going to enjoy something you want the movie to fail... What kind of fan are you?

In the past, there were always good and bad CBMs--your point is moot. The difference now, is the measure of what it means to be a good or bad CBM. The bar has been raised. The expectations for CBMs is now higher. Movies like Logan, WW, CA:TWS and Civil War, only go to show that a well-crafted movie will earn top marks. And the example you provided only strengthens my point. The critical results of movies like F4, SS, BvS, and ASM2 prove that they will be judged on the merits of the now higher bar of quality that is expected out of this genre.

Civil War- 90% - 1.153B WW
Dr. Strange- 90% - 677M WW
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 - 81% - 851M WW (and counting)

Spidey is also looking to be in the 80's to 90's on RT and will make north of 700M WW for sure. The MCU is going strong without any signs of slowing down. This CBM fatigue is crap. If the quality is there, they won't stop.

Actually it comes down to whether you like Tobey and Kirsten as Peter and Mary Jane. If you find them annoying and you find the tone of the Raimi films is too cringey, then I can easily see someone saying they didn't like any Spider-man movie so far.

You mean the films or the universe as a whole? Because Iron Fist says different and, while in the Netflix street level, is still technically in the MCU.

Going by the idea that "Marvel can do no wrong" that many have, i'll say i'm expecting between 71-90 (i voted 71-80)

Going by the trailers, personally, i'm expecting 31-40...they suck
