I know it won't stay at this high a score, but it's nice to look at while it lasts.

From the Rotten review via Hollywood Reporter:

"Where Garfield's Peter Parker displayed a believable 21st-century angst, we return largely to the character's wide-eyed roots with Tom Holland, whose performance is thoroughly winning even when the script isn't helping him. (With no fewer than six writers credited on the screenplay, could we not have had more of the wisecracks for which the teen crimefighter is famous?)"

Is he saying Spider-Man doesn't quip enough? Because nothing from Civil War or the trailers would give me that impression at all.

It does seem like that's what he is saying. I'm more taken aback by the "Where Garfield's Peter Parker displayed a believable 21st-century angst" comment...That was one of the things I hated about the ASM movies.

Can't wait for people to see the movie and talk about how "overrated" it is and how it only got a high RT score because people's hopes were low after the previous Spider-Man movies.

Man, I still have it at 96%. Why is RT so weird about not updating properly?

It's contrary like that sometimes.

Anyway we're up 30 reviews, and 29 are fresh.

RT has added their Critics Consensus:
"Spider-Man: Homecoming does whatever a second reboot can, delivering a colorful, fun adventure that fits snugly in the sprawling MCU without getting bogged down in franchise-building."

Yeah isn't it a little earlier for a consensus?

RT consensus often comes after 20 reviews or so. Can come later, just depends on whenever the editors feel confident enough, I guess. The consensus typically changes if it sees a ~15% drop/increase. Ant-Man got one at 65% saying it wasn't as good as other Marvel movies, then once it climbed up to 81%, it said it wasn't as good as "Marvel's best."

Curious to see if DM3's consensus changes if it drops to Rotten, it got one at around 80% and now it's dropped all the way to 63%.

I'm really excited to see the movie being received this well! This will be my son's first official Spider-man movie in the theater, so I'm looking forward to it. He saw Civil War and LOST IT when Spider-Man showed up.
Here's hoping it stays in the 90s! At least the high 80s!

I think it could drop into the 80s but no lower than 85%. It's still playing shoulder-to-shoulder to WW at this point.

If this ends up in the 90's score range, it will be the only Spidey movie along with Spider-Man 2 to get a 90's score.

SM-1 is teetering on it with 89%.

I can't remember which movie it was but I remember it started out great and RT wrote a consensus and as the movie kept tumbling they had to keep revising their consensus.
Yeah, they will update the consensus if it changes. This is just the consensus so far. It might stay, it might change.

I wish I could take my boy to see this. He's only three and a huge fan of Spider-man already. I may take him when the movie is really late in its run and the crowd size is low.

I'm going to the theater pretty much every week of July. A far cry from the crappy May and June we've had.

I'm a pessimist,so I think it will end up in the 80's anyway.

Looking at the average rating I think it could end up in between 75%-85% however, the reviews seem more positive than they were for Doctor Strange which ended up with 90% so that could happen with this movie too.

July is going to put a serious dent in my wallet with so many movies having great reviews. We may have to find chances to get to the theater while my boy is in daycare so I can avoid having to pay a babysitter that many times.

What was the last notable movie to get its consensus and then drop more than 10%? Uh... besides Despicable Me 3.
