I dont get how movie got positive reviews with things I read in spoiler review. I mean how. Are people truly dumb? Are we sheeps? What are we. World truly is god mode ****

Maybe it's because a good Spider-man movie isnt predicated upon dogmatically sticking to the source material in all the ways that you specifically want?

In fairness, Critics don't focus on comic accuracy but movie quality. So whether or not the movie makes changes that won't sit well with a select group of fans, the critics will only be concerned with how good a movie it is

So people who are ok with the changes that you dislike, not to mention have judged an entire movie that you haven't even seen, are dumb and sheep?

Aren't you a class act.

My guess is high 80s. MCU films are averaging about 85, so I'm guessing this will a bit better than the average.

i feel like something's gotta give. all comic book movies this year have been scoring well on RT. franchise fatigue may make critics a bit harsh.

I think it might end up mid to high 70s, which is good but not amazing.

Still stuck in 2011 I see.

You haven't seen the film. I can tell you how good a steak is, but it's up to you to taste it to really enjoy it for yourself.

Sheep is both singular and plural.

Time to get off the grid for a little bit, bud. And aren't you the same person who thought Benicio Del Toro was a new comer last year? Yeah you're that same guy!

Usually when you get a high ratio of "best ____ movie" that means it's gonna be above 80%.

In fact, I'd be surprised if it dropped below that.

My benchmark for critical success if matching or beating Spider-man 2002 (89%) but I'll be content with anything over 80%.

RT is sorta on a curve anyway.

You can argue that a 75% is more like a B or a B minus.

I noticed once a superhero movie drops below 80% it falls into the mixed reception category.

Not that I'm suggesting causation, it's just something I noticed.

True. But better that than a 60, haha.

Man, looking back, Thor 2 is the only MCU movie in the Second Wave to fall below 70! (Excluding Marvel TV).

I consider 70 or higher a win, and so does RT when all things are considered.

I think of it like this, in terms of how the movie ends up/how people receive it:

95-100: All-Time Classic
90-94: Masterpiece
85-89: Great
80-84: Good-To-Great
75-79: Good
70-74: Decent-To-Good
65-69: Decent
60-64: Mediocre/Mixed

Obviously these aren't hard and fast and RT doesn't always represent how the general public receives the movie, but I find this to be a pretty good barometer, speaking from personal experience.

I think Spidey will hover comfortably in the 80s. It might be the first mid-80s MCU movie (GOTG2 was that for a while before it dropped to 81%).

90-95: Masterpiece

IMO that's way too rigid. Keep in mind the RT score isn't actually a grade but the percentage of people giving a positive review. There are many factors beyond just quality that go into the RT score, such as how fresh and innovative the movie feels, the current atmosphere, previous history (as in comparisons to other movies).

For example, based on that scale WW should be a masterpiece while Batman Begins is just good-to-great. In my view, BB is in a whole different league than WW which belongs with TFA and Thor in quality. However WW had a lot going for it as the first big-time female superhero as well as severely depressed expectations due to the other DCEU movies.

I'd propose something like this:
<60: A movie with serious issues/flat out bad
60-70: Okay with some problems
70-85: Good movie but not perfect or outstanding
>85: Excellent, fresh and innovative, or a legit masterpiece (or Oscar bait)

I think this scale allows a lot more leeway for people's subjective tastes.

I like Wonder Woman more than Batman Begins so

"Good-to-great" meaning that some people will find it good, some people will find it great.

That may be but I highly doubt there would be a consensus that WW is a masterpiece while BB is not. That's why a broader range makes sense. Anyway, just my .02.

Based on those overwhelmingly positive reactions, I say above 80%.

We need to set our suggestions as low as possible so anything above those just to make things even better :)

MCU's average is 82% which is the third best average in cinema history only behind Harry Potter and Pixar. So i'm putting this in 84-86 range with a hope it will go above that.

I keep it simple.

>90: excellent
>80: above average
>70: average
<70: below average

So TWS with a 89% is above average??? I don't think so. The same goes with Batman Begins. Anything above 80% is pretty good/great.

90s would be amazing, but anything in the 80s would be great. It's been 13 years since that's happened for Spidey.

We might feel WS deserves an "A" but the critics collectively gave it a B+.

Going solely on the reactions of the actual crittics....i'm going to say high 85%-90%

Reactions look wonderful. Based on those, I'd say this will earn somewhere in the 80s. A respectable score, something the sequel can build upon.
