I don't remember what else he hinted at, but I do know he said he'll be adding another member to the team.

he's taking them back to new york.

Not sure where people are getting the NY connection. In WIZARD Whedon just said he was getting them out of the hostel and out on the road, and Vaughan didn't seem to mind it. He also claimed he would be adding a new member to the team, but didn't say whether it would be an original character or one already floatin' about Marvel.

Oh. Poo. :(

They just were IN the Big Apple for EAST COAST/WEST COAST. Every damned superhero is in NYC. Why do they have to go there? I mean if the SHRA is still in play, going to NYC is all but asking to get registered heroes or SHIELD up your rear. It's like a brand new supervillian deciding to make their mark in Gotham City. GRR! Stupid Whedon.

Runaways need to stay in California. California gets no love from Marvel, I love Marvel but that is my only complaint. Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four, Spider-Man all in New York. I'm sure because of the initiative, California will get there own Super team, if they do it better have some a-listers.

I agree, California is the richest/most populous State in the Union...you'd think more stories/characters would be set there.

Will I just think it means that their first stop will be in NYCm not that his whole run will be there :)

FYI, I may be the only American born after 1980 who honestly can say they never liked SCOOBY DOO. Not even as a child. I must be defective. :p

You and me both.....

This book isn't really doing it for me anymore since Gert's been gone. I know I keep saying it, but it's true. It's just so different now. I already didn't like half of the cast, but ever since she died, I've only liked Victor, Nico and... no, never liked molly, Chase should die, and the rest are meh.

I am surprised and pleased to see I wasn't the only one who never liked SCOOBY DOO.

The book has shifted in tone since she died, but Vaughan obviously wanted it that way, which was why he killed her off; he felt the team's status quo was too "stable" without her. In WIZARD he literally stated, "I couldn't imagine the RUNAWAYS without Gert, which was when I knew she had to die". For better or worse he is a writer who refuses to get in too bad of a rut and wants to keep trying to reinvent the wheel.

I enjoy all of the characters in some way and honestly just don't want any to die. Chase is actually my favorite; I mean even right now he hasn't done NEARLY as much F'd up stuff as Emma Frost, and she's a head X-Woman. ;)

I too appreciate something about each of the characters... it's an ensemble book, to only enjoy one character would kind of be cheating myself. Especially with the whole cast being transient, at least in theory, being a Gert fan, or enjoying Gert is a totally different animal than being a Runaways fan or enjoying Runaways.

Starting their Road Trip in New York is okay, I don't like it, but sure, why not. It'd be funny if their road trip took them to some different countries... I think Mighty Avengers might have te West Coast covered soon, in which case, they can have the West Coast without running into the Runaways...

It seems a little backwards to run into NYC, since that is the NEXUS of where "superhero adults" are, SHRA or not, who'd want to capture them and get them back to foster care (if not a Fed Detention Center awaiting N-Zone jail placement). They've also been trying to clean up the mess in CA's crime areas after they beat The Pride, so something would have to be a bit climatic to get them to flee the Hostel.

I do agree that RUNAWAYS, like any good team book, is about the ensamble cast even if one does have favorite characters. Hence why I really don't want Vaughan to off another one before he leaves the book. I mean if Whedon offs someone we can all ease ourselves by calling him a "hack" with other people's creations, but when Vaughan does it, these ARE his creations so he has total right to do so. After Chase, Victor would amazingly be my next fave, then Karolina, Molly, Nico, and Xavin. But I even do like Xavin; Zeb Wells used him very well. Victor is usually more reasonable and less vindictive compared to the other Runaways (who sternly don't trust any adult), although that may change dramatically with Chase now threatening Nico.

To me, whenever the RUNAWAYS seem betrayed from within, there is no forgiveness. They hated their parents and offed them. Alex betrayed them and he died, with most of the other Runaways a little miffed that Nico even bothered to try to resurrect him (BTW, 3 to 1 odds Whedon brings back Alex and says, "Oh, you did resurrect me, I just hid" within a year). Topher naturally got dusted in vol. 1. My point being is that usually these things follow a pattern, and so one would EXPECT Chase to end up getting murdered fighting the team now. Which may mean that may not go down. Eventually these kids are going to have to learn how to forgive, that you can't simply waste all your enemies or expect them to conviently die off.

A cop-out answer could be that using "The Staff of One" may have "corrupted" Chase even more, like Gollum and the One Ring, but I sort of doubt Vaughan would go there (even if it would make "East Coast/West Coast" more relevent). The more expected path is that Chase is just doing exactly what he hinted; Gert was the one who kept him in line and "out of the dark side", and without her, he's fallen back into older, more corrupt ways. Naturally, the irony here is that if he did revive Gert by killing Nico, Gert would never forgive him and might possibly want him dead herself.

We don't really know the circumstances of why their running to NYC yet so i'll hold off my opinon on that one untill it drops. I'd like to state that I do NOT like Xavin being in the group. How ZZzzzzzzzzz. I want there to be more tactical development. I want them to grow into their superhero role more. So far it's mainly been almost a kind of bad 7th heaven.

I want Alex to come back and them to have to put him down. I want sexual tension between him and nico again. Would be cool for them to have to deal with that as she plants him in the dirt. Chase finally needs to develop into more than just local flavor his inner superheo needs to come out. Would be cool.

Anyways. Much love.

Eh, I still maintain that he's holding Nico hostage so she can magic up a spell that can locate a pure soul that nobody cares about or something to that effect.

That would kinda be wierd, I doubt they're flying to NY, there are a lot of stops inbetween CA and NY, so for NY to be there first stop would be kinda stupid.
