So Molly isn't all "I'm the best." "Hit now ask Later?" She actually felt bad for hitting someone? Well, I like her a little. It's simple why I hated her. I hate kids so much, it's not funny. BKV mad Molly untouchable. I'm sure she'll be the same with Whedon, but at least she isn't all the way into herself. I didn't read the new issue yet, but I read the first one. I still hate the little c***, but at least she's not the bloody star.

Chase... I like stupid, happy chase. As some recalled, I wanted him to die because he was annoying me with his sadnees and badboy phase.(I know, his girlfriend died, there was no other way to act, but that doesn't mean I liked it.) Then I liked him when we found out he was trying to kill himself to get Gert back. That made him... sweet... in a sick way for me.

Xavin isn't so bad. I started liking him around the end of BKV's run. Molly was right, he does think about others before himself. And he's not so bad around my boy anymore, but Xavin's girlfriend needs to stop, the selfish *****. I won't even go into why she's pissing me off.

Victor... hmmm... I don't like Whedon's Victor too much. He's seems different, more short tempered with people (Nico).

Oldlace, Whedon's first issue with her running down a bloody building to catch chase was sooo awesome. I was like "BKV would never do this!" Then chase threw up, and I laughed.

Overall, I like it. It's different from BKV's Runaways, and a lot happens. (A lot happened with BKV's run so I'm not comparing the two. What I am comparing this with is AXM.)In closing, I still miss Gert.

If Gert were still alive, Chase would be on-target, although naturally not in control of Old Lace.

And Whedon loves lesbians. So expect some antics.

He also is a better action pacer than BKV is, whose action sequences here and during his good run of Ultimate X-Men were always the chink in his armor. The series where his action was the best throughout was argueably DR. STRANGE: OATH, even if he has a very "turn based" style of action. If you play RPG's, you get what I am talking about. He wrote good stories and dialogue, so I never minded too much when BKV's action was predictable and usually static.

Whedon's pacing here is at least double the rate of ASTONISHING, and as he's had no issues so far with timely issues, AXM's lateness likely isn't his fault; as I have noted many times, Cassaday has never had a rep for being able to do a monthly series, but Marvel went for it anyway.

As I stated before, some people complained that BKV's series was getting too dark, so Whedon is attempting to return it to lighter fare. The problem, of course, is that for these characters, they've had plenty of reason to be dark. You don't just wake up a week after your GF is murdered and be all chuckles and jock jokes. BKV got that right and Whedon doesn't. For F's sake, Spider-Man lost Gwen HOW long ago and married a supermodel, and he STILL whines about that. Chase acts like his Dark Prince turn never happened.

That's not to say I don't like Whedon's story so far. I do. I think getting the kids on the road is a good idea, even if NYC is a bit obligatory (but trying to use their parents' names to get stuff from Kingpin was cool). If Whedon had more time, maybe a year, I feel he could work off these "first tale jitters". But he doesn't. By the time he may hit a stride, he is gone. And then the book may be in trouble maintaining the audience without the creator or him.

Is It possible that Whedon really may stay for a while longer, but Marvel just aren't ready to outright say it yet? I know, I'm hoping too much. And he really does like those Lesbos. He's almost as bad as me.

I don't buy it. When Whedon & Cassaday were grabbed to launch/run AXM (as what was supposed to be THE flagship title in the X-line to replace Morrison's 3 year tenure on X-Men), Marvel was quick to announce their "two year run", which has naturally stretched to 3 (and counting) due to lateness. Whedon is an A-List writer who even propelled a Dark Horse book into the Top 10 in sales, which is horribly rare these days (even their STAR WARS titles struggle to sell within the Top 100 most months).

Some minor news: whatever debates on who is fit to take over RUNAWAYS after Whedon wraps in October, count out Sean McKeever. He just signed an exclusive for DC to write TEEN TITANS, COUNTDOWN, and other comics. Snag!

...he signed exclusive with DC like 2 months ago.

I think I should write Runaways.
I'm just putting it out there... take it as you will.

Looks like DC is planning to do with McKeever, what Marvel did with Brubaker. They got this great writer, but wont put him on any big name books. He jumps ship to the competition, instant success. Let's hope it doesn't backfire.

Teen Titans is not a big name book? Wasn't it number one when it launched in 2003?

Huh?

No, you misunderstand. Brubaker was with DC, he had his Sleeper Series, Catwoman, and he co-wrote Gotham Central with Rucka. All of which were no where near high profile books. He jumps ship to Marvel, he Gets to bring Bucky back from he dead, Kill Banshee, kill Cap, and write a space opera with the X-Men. Now he's one of the biggest names in the industry.

McKeever, did lots of forgettable minis, wrote the critically acclaimed Spidey loves MJ, created the loved by those who have actually heard of him but sadly still D-List, Gravity, and that's it. Goes to DC, gets to co plot a huge event, and write one of the biggest books in the business, Teen Titans. Now, all he's gotta do is deliver like Bru did, and he's set.

RUNAWAYS #28
Written by JOSS WHEDON
Penciled by MICHAEL RYAN
Cover by JO CHEN
“DEAD END KIDS”
Super-star JOSS WHEDON (ASTONISHING X-MEN, Buffy) and rising star MICHAEL RYAN (NEW EXCALIBUR, NEW X-MEN) continue their landmark run. Pun intended. Love is in the air as the Runaways try and run back from 1907. Part 4 (of 6).
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$2.99

Chen's covers are so pretty...

After I read 26, just now, I concluded that this is not Runaways. I don't know what it is, but I dislike it a little.

April's sales reports are in, and RUNAWAYS moved up a staggering 42-43 sales slots with Whedon & Ryan's first issue. As I predicted, they at least doubled RUNAWAYS sales, and almost tripled them. It sold within the Top 45, and RUNAWAYS hasn't done that in years. THE LONERS, the spin-off, sold within Runaways usually averaged under BKV, the Top 85.

That August cover seems to suggest that maybe Karolina switches lovers with Nico? WTF? Or am I just seeing it wrong? Oh, well, we'll know in a few months.

Hopefully Whedon will leave the book with enough bounce that whoever replaces him in October doesn't stake the book for good.

Doesn't look like #27 is out til the 27th of June.:cmad:

Also seems a bit odd if Karolina switched to Victor!:wow:

Seriously, I'll wait to see what happens with Whedons "run" But I really didn't like any of the characters in issue 26.

"Molly and her friends did this." Molly and her friends did that" What the hell?

I thought Whedon was only going to last 2 issues (1 arc)?

Who said the arc was going to be two issues? Cause it's not.

I thought Kingpin was frightfully out of character. Not the chocolate thing, that was spot-on. But of anyone in the Marvel Universe, the Kingpin should know the Law of Inverse Ninja Efficacy. Nobody has any business attacking anybody with that many ninjas and thinking he's not gonna get an asskicking.

Chase just isn't Chase anymore, somehow, though I think that's as much the artist's fault as anything - who in the hell decided he was a varsity linebacker, all of a damn sudden? Also, Nico really shouldn't be taking this much **** off of anybody.

Molly is delightful as always, though possibly I'm just a sucker for anybody punching the Punisher so hard he craps blood.

Although I hated Molly more than ever, Punny really needed that punch in the gut. I mean, seriously, he'll kill someone for staeling?
