You know who I think the new artist for AXM should be? Alphona. I think it'd be a good fit.

Autistic comment and leukemia jokes made my day! After that Wii thing i haven't laughed as hard.:yay:

...Spoons, I didn't like a lot of things about HoM. The art was one of them.

I think Coipel did an awesome job. I have that HoM poster in my room. :o

If not Coipel, then McNiven...slow ass McNiven.

I'm bored with his Civil War art now.

So... I re-read the first arc concerning Victor, and stumbled onto something awesome. It happens when Avengers Gert comes back from the future.

Gert: "I wouldn't be caught dead in that outfit."

Future Gert: "Interesting choice of words."

It's there, check for yourselves. Thoughts? Maybe Chase suceeds unintentionally. Maybe that's why she leads the Avengers, if she was dead and has mystic/death related powers.

oooooo interesting, well least that means she will be back someday

I'm sure she'll be back, just the time between that time will suck.

...maybe it's because future gert was you know, dying, when she was wearing that outfit.

Boo, I honestly can't say I want Gert back. I thought she was boring!

Gert was pretty much the only Runaway who claimed to be smart, but was the only one who never used said smarts to actually fix a problem. It was always everybody else.

Whats eceryones thoughts about the new artist? I liked him over at Nex X-men, but I wouldt want to see him on Runaways. Hes good, but I dont think that he can draw them like I would like to see them. I really love the artist thats on right now(sorry I forgot his name, im so ashamed:O )

Same old video, but I want to post it again : )

True, they've been to NYC before, but now it's Whedon the A-Lister writing, so everything he does will be treated as original...even when it's not. I mean, it's not like no one ever wrote a "X-Men fight a piece of their tech that gains sentience and wants to kill them" story before, or even an "X-Men go to space and fight aliens" story before. Hell, those two are X-CLICHES. But when you're an A-List writer, your FARTS get praise. That's not to knock Whedon, that is simply the nature of the biz. Once you go A-List, your good stories, your mediocre stories, and your garbage stories get a lot of hype and instant praise from the media insiders.

Hopefully Whedon brings more to RUNAWAYS than he does for ASTONISHING X-MEN, which has been riding on "mediocre, generic story but Whedon writes the characters well" ever since about CURE, and his pacing is slow as molassas to boot. I don't care who he is; BKV was a master and this was his creation, and Whedon will have huge boots to fill. Huge.

Oh, well, yeah, Whedon will resurrect Alex. BKV made it technically possible and Whedon, like most writers, likely can't help stripmining his own past material. Expect Alex within 12 issues...if not 6. He's a self admitted RUNAWAYS fanboy, so expect fan-fic esque plots for better or worse.

What seperates "fan fic" quality with other stories? Easy; most fan fics are written from the heart, acting as self indulging wish fulfillment for the fan writing it. I know because I have written fan fiction. Other professional writers are emotionally invested but not so much that they can't shatter the status quo and do bold things, for better or worse. Both approaches have their pro's and con's. I just hope Whedon avoids a "Mary Sue" character with his RUNAWAYS new recruit.

I've always like whedon's comic book writing much better than any of his screenplays. While the situations that he tackles aren't anything new, he has a very refreshing style that makes me interested in characters that I normally wouldn't give two ****s about.

He made Wolverine interesting again by not falling into the whole I'm way too badass for my own good role. I mean he get's some comedy our of logan which I wasn't expecting to like but I did. So I'm excited to see what direction he's going to take the runaways in.

She did say something to get Mancha to stop crushing her. She didn't say anything smart and i think that was the only time she's ever done anything!:o

Alphona on ASTONISHING? I think someone mentioned his name on a wish list for the next NEW WARRIORS; I'd like him there better.

Whedon, IMO, went overboard on the "comedy Logan" bit the last few issues. The "Poofy Logan" thing from TORN was originally funny but dragged out far too long, and he's milked the beer stuff officially to it's end. There is a fine line with comedy between being funny and overplaying a hand, and sometimes Whedon overplays.

But, as I have said a few times, out of a laundry list of A-List writers, Whedon is probably the most capable to handle RUNAWAYS due to his snarky style. The fact he's a self professed fanboy of the comic is even better. I just hope he does better with the plots than he's done in the last year of ASTONISHING, because Vaughan's shoes will not be easily filled just because Whedon's an A-Lister. Least for me.

An issue of WIZARD had a sketch of Nico, but I was unable to find a pic of it online.

those ain't shabby. I'm actually looking forward to it more now. Thanks, Dread :)

No prob. Ryan is incredibly talented and I never had any doubts about the art on Whedon's run, other than if it will be timely. Alphona could usually manage 9 or so issues a year, and not many artists can do that these days. On the plus side, Alphona's current latenesses for the last BKV issues likely have to be giving Ryan a few extra weeks, which can't hurt.

Ryan was the previous New Excalibur artist right?

Yes, he was, before Claremont fell ill.

Nico has a horse face.
i do like it, however.

the only thing i'm concernd about when it comes to the art is the clothing. runaways art always impressed me because Alphona really drew what most kids are wearing now-a-days. hell, i dress like Chase, which i thought was very cool.
