Oh yeah, and frak the Nielsen families who didn't tune into this show. The fact that just 2 households not tuning into a show can cause it to underperform this badly is unacceptable. If Fox is dumb enough to cancel this show, I hope that Warner Bros. keeps it going on The CW, Scifi, or USA.

how many times must I go over this....SciFi has made it very clear that they will NOT be the network for castoff sci-fi shows....they even made a statement concerning that when people were on them to pick up Jericho....The CW is turning into Lifetime Jr. so there's no hope there....USA doesn't need it....I love this show too, but its not looking good

"No hope" doesn't mean it won't happen. The CW hasn't canceled Supernatural yet, so that must count for something. Warner Bros. owns the CW also, and if they want to keep TSCC going post-fox that's probably going to be their fist option.

Fox should have known better than to put this show on Fridays, because Friday is a bad night for TV. If Fox renews it or WB moves it to another network, then they need to look at it as an investment. What the show has done on Fridays is much different from what it was doing before the move. All of season 2, it's had a bad timeslot, first having to compete with Monday night football, and then having to compete with people's social lives and travel schedules. If his show had been on tuesday, wednesday, or thurdsay, it would have had much better ratings, more like we saw in Season 1. I really hope that whoever is looking at TSCC right now keeps that in mind, whether it's Fox or one of their competitors.

The finale was pretty good. Although, when the producers chimed in a few weeks ago and said they crafted the finale in a way so that it could serve as a series finale (just in case), I expected a bit more resolution. There are a ****load of new questions and not really a lot of closure.

If it gets another season, there's some interesting stuff to get into. However, I don't see a renewal happening.

Thank Zeus he didn't boink the machine. You guys can cite women using 'toys' for years all you want. This is on an entirely different level. It's the unnatural evolution of that creepy ass guy with the RealDolls delusion. *blech*

WB just wanted the show on to hype the film. Once the film comes out, the show isn't needed, as far as they're concerned. If the movie's a success, that success will fuel interest in whatever future films they have planned. If the movie fails or underperforms, the show obviously isn't serving their purpose from a marketing standpoint. They could care less about whether or not it's a good show.

False. If anything, the movie will make Warner Bros. more than ever want to keep the show alive, because it keeps the Terminator brand on the tip of people's tongue long after the movie is out of theaters. That's the lamest argument in favor of cancellation I've heard, and you're not the first poster I've heard it from.

'cept that that guy's sexbot can now kill you when you make fun of him

That's actually one in the plus column.

Cameron isn't a sexbot. Sexbot implies submission, and if you'll notice, Cameron was leading John on the whole time. She was in control of the situation, and John certainly seemed happy enough to play along. That's a pretty important distinction when people try to label Cameron as being a fancy toy or whatever. Since the show began people have been arguing that Cameron has, or will develop some form of sentience. The fact that she makes her own choices outside of the Connors' influence is a pretty strong argument for this.

I've had mixed feelings about this series for a long time now. The first season started off strong but lost me later on. The second season has been a mix of good to mediocre material, with the last few episodes being downright poor. But this season finale was very good. Surprisingly good, in fact, considering. If this canceled, at least there's some solace in knowing the writing came through when it mattered to make a modicum of finality.

If there's one big reason I'd blame for TSCC's poor numbers this season, it would be the Friday timeslot. The show was getting good ratings up until that point, but then Fox got greedy and decided they'd try to pave the way for "The New Scifi Friday." It backfired, and TSCC was the victim. Friday is a terrible night for TV, and if TSCC survives for Season 3, it won't be returning on Fridays, because there's no future for it there. Fox made a boneheaded decision, and they're either going to accept responsibility, or they're going to try and blame the show. I hope it's the former, but even if it's the latter I'm hoping that the other networks Warner Bros. potentially shops the show to will see the big picture of what happened to TSCC's ratings.

Well, it's established that Terminators can learn and adapt (great efficiency), but I think you could pin a lot of Cameron's 'extracurricular' activity as execution of mission parameters that she hasn't allowed the Connors to be privy to, at least as compared to true free will choice.

I'm sure there's something in the series/universe that cuts the other way, that I'm simply disinclined/too ****ing lazy to be cognizant of right now.

Nielsen actually offered me a spot in their little sample a couple months ago. Wish I would have jumped on it (though I doubt it would have mattered much). Not too late, as I still have the envelope they mailed, but it might be two late for our beloved TSCC. Argghhhhh.

Actually, I feel this series has fantastic writing. Even in the 'duller' episodes (read; less action), there's still a good sense of continuity. Add to that the generally genuine effort being put in by the cast in their performances and chemistry between them, the show really shouldn't be doing as poorly as it has ratings-wise.

Personally, I feel the 'Terminator' tag is what's actually dragging the show down. Just as the brand name pulls in viewers, it also puts off some (probably more) of them. Many people see it as a cheap cash-in on a popular series, and in so are turned off from giving the show a chance. Plus, there is a stereotype of the Terminator franchise being a mindless sci-fi series that is all about action and gun fights with little depth in its story and you've effectively alienated a segment of the population.

The loss of these viewers, on its own, shouldn't be that detrimental to the show. However, by using the Terminator name, the series effectively brought along its baggage. Early on in the first season, many of the franchise's fans criticized the show for some aspects that didn't match perfectly with the previous movies. This created a negative buzz around the series (adding to the belief it's just trying to cash in on the franchise) in some circles and I'm sure some viewers left because of it. Had the series been original, and so allowed to define its own laws on time travel, etc., this wouldn't have happened. Of the people that stayed, many were expecting lots of guns, explosions, etc. as seen in Terminator movies. Of course, Friedman did not deliver on this and instead pushed for a more intellectually sophisticated concept for the show. Once again, some early viewers would not have expected and appreciated this and so left and unfortunately, many viewers who would've liked this idea did not tune in because of the Terminator name (and its association with sci-fi action).

My theory is if T:S is as good as it looks ppl will want more Terminator in any form and T:TSCC should prosper from it even though the season has ended. That is if the big heads at Fox know how to use that popularity from the movie to help T:TSCC.

When this show is on point, it is complete money, so I'm hoping it gets renewed, switched to a better night, and the season gets shortened (Like Lost's seasons have been shortened)

The last five or so episodes were terrific. I love this show.

And the thing is, Fox knows that for the most part nobody watches their network on fridays. Its been that way or awhile now so to expect SCC and DH to do great is just stupid.

I was encouraged by the ending of the episode, because it was a confident ending. The writers didn't try to frantically tie up all the loose ends in fear of a cancellation looming. If anything they raised more questions and laid the foundations for a third season in a clear manner. In other words it wasn't an ambiguous ending. Either all the signs point to the writers being confident in a third season being picked up. Or they suggest that the writers knew they were being canned, and just made as openended finale as your going to get in order to make life very difficult for Fox when they cancel.

As for the actual episode, there is not much I can criticise. Very well done.

IGN gave the season finale a glowing review. They seem pretty optimistic about a third season, and give some good reasoning for why.

In addition to moving the show to a better night, what Warner Bros. NEEDS to do if they want to boost this show's audience, is by expanding it. If they run reruns of the current 31 episodes on Scifi channel around the same time that Terminator Salvation is coming out, they're going to expose a lot of people to the show who either never watched it or gave up on it at some point. The show did lose some people during its growing pains, but the thing is, if people can catch 2 back to back episodes of it every week or more at a convenient time, I think they'll be more forgiving of the weaker episodes (Desert Cantos, Earthlings Welcome Here, Some must watch while others sleep, etc). I think having a good rerun effort on cable will do a great deal of good in getting our viewership up next season, especially if they move the show to a better night.

They do give some good reasoning, in tough economic times, why would they want to invest in a series that might end up doing worse and television in general has been going down in ratings (possibly setting the bar for cancellation lower).

I'm hoping, but I'm not holding my breath. If you need me I'll be headed into my garage to get my pitchfork and make my torch.

Someday girl I don’t know when
we’re gonna get to that place
Where we really wanna go
and we’ll walk in the sun
But till then tramps like us
baby we were born to run

These are the facts as we know them from sources various and sundry in fact you’ve probably seen most of this elsewhere but I want to have this post as a handy reference guide.

1: Fox is looking at ALL the numbers. They are looking at Nielsens, DVR, Live Plus DVR, HULU, and Fox Online. They also pay attention to sales on ITunes and Amazon. As far as I know Fox is not going to make any kind of decision on a S3 22 or 13 Episode renewal until the DVR numbers come in for Born to Run.

2: Fox has announced that there will be no official announcement until May and yes I know that’s a long time but it’s about to get even longer.

3: Fox will be announcing its Fall Schedule on May the 18th according to the folks at Aint It Cool News.

4: Born to Run ended the Season with a mind melter. There are a whole plethora of questions that need to be answered. At the very least a Seasons worth.

What can you do to help?

Contact Fox and the WB, let them know that YOU watch. Let them know how many people watch in your family. Let them know if you DVR, Itunes, or Amazon…or Live without a Neilsen Box.

Make SURE that they know that you need the show to stay. We’re not giving you specific text to send in this time - your letters need to come from you heart. Tell Fox and WB how passionately you love this show and how desperately it deserves a third season. Be courteous and grateful for the fantastic season that we were just given and politely ask for them to renew the show.
