The Sarah Palin Thread: 'Controversial Controversy' Edition

I don't know if this has been brought up, but has anyone entertained the notion that the Republicans chose Palin to deliberately lose the election due to what would surely be a Democratic majority in the house and Senate, along with a host of problems from the previous Administration that would require more time and effort to correct than either side could hope to have in one term?

And what about Florida's proximity to Cuba and the states that border Mexico and Canada? While it is somewhat of a valid point because Alaska does have to deal with Russia to certain extents, but overall, it was pretty damn absurd.

The Cuban embargo removes the effectiveness of your comparison. But just as a New Mexican or Arizonan politician has more experience in dealing with Mexican authorities, an Alaskan politician has experience in dealing with Russian.

How is it absurd to point that out? She wasn't boasting to be a foreign policy guru, she wasn't basing her entire campaign on the Russian connection. She just pointed that out because she had nothing else.

The fact that people that don't like her jump on this is as bad as Obama opponents focusing on Michelle Obama's spending. It's a bad argument against someone who offers so many good ones. It hurts someone's intellectual credibility to bring up "I can see Russia from my house" against Palin.

Well, if Palin had articulated it in a different way...she probably would have been spared the jokes.

And Bill...wasn't Palin, ultimately, the decision of John McCain? All the blame I've heard from critics, Republican and Democratic, lay it on McCain and not the party.

Upon further review, I am going to change my position entirely. Since the question specifically asked for what insight she has gained regarding Russia due to Alaska's proximity, her answer wasn't sufficient. Essentially she was asked "what do you know about Russia being so close" to which she responded "yes, we are close".

Proceed with the Palin bashing :o

I can't wait to replace her as the star of the Tea Party.

They wouldn't let you :cwink: you have entirely to much intelligence. You may be a staunch conservative Norman and I may disagree with you regularly but sir you are no idiot... The TEA party as whole does not want the voice of reason representing it.

The Tea Party DOES want a voice of reason. They just don't have one. Yet.

I am also not a staunch conservative, I am a libertarian ;)

The party gets blame also because they went along with the pick so enthusiastically. I understand why but it just made them look like idiots to back and make excuses someone like that.

It would be hilarious to see a Palin-Beck ticket for 2012. So much material for the late night hosts!

Beck has a Patrick Henry/Thomas Paine fetish. He has no interest in being John Adams.

Yeah, its not likely he would run. Although, running for president may be able to make him money, so I wouldn't rule it out completely.

Sarah Palin would love this coloring book.

Again, we have plenty of politicians and few statesmen. Going on one station to "avoid tough" or supposedly "biased questions" proves it.

Too few statesmen...and too few true moderates. :csad:

I don't know the legan ins and outs, but the RNC lawyers probably believe that her lawyers can prove that had she not been asked to run as VP, had the RNC done a better job of counter acting the smear campaign....she would not have these lawsuits. I'm not, of course, for sure on that, but that is how lawyers think.....and it is the RNC lawyers talking to her lawyers...NOT....the RNC talking to Palin.

I think he has more of a Benjamin Franklin fetish. Well millions of them actually. He knows his best chance to get more of those fetishes is to stay where he is and say stupid **** while cashing checks.

It is the American way, no doubt.
