The Seventh Kingdom and Fantastic Exclusive

i just dont see the point in getting scarabus... i mean with the other ones like the minotaurs
and the other animals you can display them all together and they sorta complete eachother... this one is a bit different, its like suddenly throwing people in... i duno... he's definately not a figure worth getting 2 of just for a little gremlin guy though

The Timekeepers are simply a bonus accessory for the figure. The fans knew that the likelihood of them ever winning the FanEx vote was slim, so since they're small, a FanEx member suggested including them as pack-ins. The Horsemen listened. So yea, if all you want is the Timekeeper(s), you're gonna be paying a lot for a tiny figure, but Scarabus is the main attraction, not the Timekeepers.

As for Scarabus not fitting in with the rest of the Seventh Kingdom figures, he's not supposed to. He's part of Gothitropolis. The Seventh Kingdom has become it's own line of figures, so the Horsemen removed them from the voting of FanEx this year and Gothitropolis won in it's place.

your stating the obvious... not exactly explaining anything i typed....

all in which you said was obvious. Right now, unless more Gothopolis figs will be made, its pointless to have him. second, he's a unique character unlike the Seventh kindom army characters... why would u feel the need to buy variants? What i'm saying is... unless you really want a variant time keeper, then why bother with them? or why bother with this figure anyway... theres no story behind them so no "fandome" its purely based on just "looks cool factor" sooo maybe if more goth figs come out it would up his cool factor, but right now i don't see a point of buying him at all... The Seventh Kingdom figs i get.. this i dont

I disagree. I'll be pleased to have Scarabus on my shelf regardless of whether or not anymore Gothitropolis figures ever get made.

He's no more of a unique character than Ramathorr or Xetheus. Considering that no one knows what the variants are going to look like, I don't understand how you can totally write-off the variants without a glance.

Hypocritical. Scarabus is being started the same way that Xetheus and the Seventh Kingdom were started. Limited back story with concept art of some of the characters that make up the universe. People mainly voted on what they thought "looked cool."

The purpose of FanEx is not to launch action figure lines, it is to give the fans control of what they want. Who knows what may come of Gothitropolis? If it does as well as Xetheus and company, it could very well launch into it's own line as well. Personally, it doesn't matter to me. I'm getting what I want in Scarabus. If you don't like him, that's cool. You can vote next year.

1) none of the variants from any fig they've done have been anything but a color switch, i'd expect the same with this.

2) words on a back of the box isn't enough for a story for me.... i mean theres no fan base other then fig collectors... not novel, no cartoon, no comic, no video game... you just become a fan due to "he looks cool" factor.. thats it.

Both FanEX 1 & 2 have had different head sculpts and different accessories and armors across the figures in addition to the paint. The mutants even had added fur. There have been some that were mainly repaints, however. I can't promise what the Horsemen will do with Scarabus, but I'd be willing to wager that they'll have different head sculpts on each variant this year in addition to the aforementioned paint, armor, and accessories. I can say that if there isn't worthy additions to the variants other than paint, it'll take a heckuva paint job to convince me to purchase them.

You've never bought a figure because it looks cool? You've never tried a new comic because you like the premise?

Anyways, It's not just that the figure looks cool. It's the fact that it's going to be a high quality action figure that is unlike anything else on the market. It's the fact that you had a hand in the design of the figure and watched it throughout it's entire creation process.

If that's not enough for you, then that's fine.

Also, the Horsemen do have a "Seventh Kingdom Bible" as well as some short cg animation of the 7K characters in a battle sequence. Just because it isn't all revealed at once doesn't take away from the amount of story that we already know and enjoy. It's fun speculating what the Horsemen have in store for the rest of the story. In the meantime, I know I've got some top-of-the-line action figures that compete with the best the market has to offer. Are they perfect? No. But I'm a fan anyways.

ive never bought a fig just because it looks cool... i buy figs because they represent something i am a fan with and then comes the cool factor... which is usually composed of quality and paint jobs. its never cool first, then fan. Comics are different, its a story that keeps going that you become a fan of... these figures dont have continuous stories, just slight background that never goes anywhere.

umm voting for which picture to get made hardly says crap about having a hand in getting it made *yawn* maybe if they let people submit there own drawings in which people vote on, then ya that'd be a hell of alot cooler. getting your own figure made.

Spidey has a point about the *point and click on a picture* but I have bought figs just because they look cool....

plus your hardly seeing them get made.... its a picture... then made ... i could be wrong but i dont even recall seeing a proto unpainted of him. either way thats still only 3 steps. when there most likely going to end up making most of the figs from a set anyway

I hope you're not lumping Hasbro in with that "quality and paint" that you mention.

its never cool first, then fan.

I'd wager that there are a few thousand original Transformers fans that would disagree with that comment. The 80's animated series would have never launched without the success of those "cool-looking" action figures.

G.I.Joe, Transformers, and MOTU all started out as action figure lines and then branched into other forms of media (comics, movies, cartoons). I'm not about to assume that 7K or anything that spawns out of FanEx will ever come close to attaining that type of popularity, but even still, you've gotta start somewhere or you can't go anywhere.

You never saw the unpainted proto because I didn't post the picture. If you want to go and hang out at the FanEx boards, you'll see it.

We vote on the property. We vote on the character (even popular characters from losing properties are still in the running). We vote on the scale. We vote on sculpted vs. soft goods. We vote on articulation. We vote on accessories. Members of the FanEx boards can be credited with the inclusion of the Timekeepers, the seventh Mynothecean, the tenth Anintherian, the packaging art for the A10, the array of animal variants in FanEx 2, and I can already guarantee two variants that have already been influenced by the fans for FanEx3 as well as the next 7K figure, the Queen.

If you want to distill all that into "clicking a picture," then go right ahead. I'm aware of how limited a role I play in creating the final product, but it's a whole lot better than picking and choosing from "which is worse" for Hasbro's webshop fan exclusive.

I hope you're not lumping Hasbro in with that "quality and paint" that you mention.

:o:whatever: Toybiz was high quality, hasbro has had a few winners, but overall my ML collection if spewing with quality so please don't go there, hasbro is still new to the game.

dude u do realize that in the 80's there were no toys like transformers before there time.... you seriously are trying to compare these to transformers as something new and never seen before? *yawn* there just big and highly detailed stuff thats been done to death.

o wow.... 3 steps... vote, unpainted proto, painted proto.. whooopie you really saw it's production more then any other fig *yawn (im really falling asleep here man)

ZzZzZzzzz o what sorry.. i dozed off... dude you don't seem very familiar with the ML saga either... fans back in the jesse falcon days chose alot... doesn't make us feel like we created them. We just demand what we want. This is nothing new to the figure world at all... there great figs and a great company, that indulges interaction between fans, thats really all there is to it. Stop acting like this is something brand new, cuz it isn't

I didn’t go there. I never even mentioned ToyBiz or the quality of your collection.

Read my post again. I'm not comparing the innovativeness of FanEx to Transformers.

you really saw it's production more then any other fig

FanEx isn’t about documenting the toy process.

Please go and find the post where I claim FanEx is wholly original to the action figure world. I never have.

This discussion is going nowhere. We’re arguing for the sake of arguing.

Are you serious right now?

This is something quite special, people that decide to register on a specific forum have determined 3 figures from a huge pool of designs, and then went on to choose things like color, scale, articulation, accessories, and even throw in suggestions that wind up on these figures. It's interaction on a much smaller, personal scale than anything any other mass produced toy company has provided. The only other company that even comes close to this is Hasbro's Star Wars team, as they've had pretty extensive fan polls, and now their Q&A sessions have resulted in a lot of direct fan to hasbro suggestions. Don't plug your ears and shut your eyes and stomp up and down and pretend this isn't something fairly special, because it is.

Also, how the hell can you say you support 7th Kingdom but NOT this new guy? They started the EXACT same way. The ONLY reason there's more backstory and more figures in the 7th Kingdom figures is... ready... wait for it... because THE VOTING MEMBERS OF THE BOARD PUSHED THE LINE AND HELPED CREATE THESE THINGS! Back in the day, the Bull warrior guy was just a single Bull warrior guy. Then someone came along and gave him a backstory, and someone came along and suggested variants, and someone else came along and gave more backstory and so on, until now the 7th Kingdom has branched out into a line of it's own and people writing fan fiction and comics and who the hell knows what else.

I could go on, but you clearly aren't paying attention to what anyone is saying, and are just stammering around like an idiot for the **** of it.

got your panties in a twist do we?

stop kicking sand on a dead argument

it may make me happy.....but it wont.....I need both them little guys for anything to be worth anything

I'd take one of the extra Scarubus figs off your hands. Don't need the Timekeepers bro.

I don't know how, but I've never seen the Raven before.....I voted for the Raven, and I would buy the Raven.......But I really wanted that awesome bat guy that I've wanted for years.

so....we got some lady...or something.....but some of them are Cat Ladies.....

I just pre ordered Oktobria from www.octobertoys.com.....saved some money by using couplon code 'toybreak'

anyway...thinking about getting one or both from bigbadtoystore.....also BBTS has some of the old ones still.....the boar guy is $9

The Seventh Kingdom broke off from Fantastic Exclusive and became it's own line. Alluxandra is the first official release of Seventh Kingdom figures apart from the previously released Fantastic Exclusive figures.

I honestly.....don't care about the Mutant kingdom....or the Human Kingdom...or the Alien kingdom....or the Mech Kingdom...

I only love the Animal Kingdom......but I think one Cat Lady'll be plenty......still need that Damn Hippo though....and maybe one more Cow (but I aint holding my breath)....these....these are just modern Day battle Beasts to me.
