Homecoming The Side-Villains: the Shocker and Thinkerer thread!

We all thought Harry's Green Goblin suit in 'ASM2' would've been prototype suit but it turned out not to be the case.... :o

Same with cases like Dr. Doom, that Lizard would evolve further, with Apocalypse etc.

I've heard the "prototype" explanation so many times and it's pretty much never been the case! :P

The Vulture design is starting to grow on me though.

The Vulture design isn't that drastic if a change. It's just a modernization.

It still amazes me how we got the most comic accurate Spider-Man movie suit yet but a Vulture who bears such a slight resemblance to the traditional Vulture suit. I mean, grey mechanical wings with a crude design, a classic bomber jacket with a fur collar, an exo-skelaton and green pants? Wow. It'd be like if we got a Spider-Man suit like this:

"It has to have the basic silhouette of Spider-Man, but it can't look too comic booky otherwise that would be silly! It's gotta look gritty, realistic and tactical. Tony Stark designed it so it's gotta have an ultra hi-tech, segmented aesthetic. Oh, and throw a little red in there while you're at it since the comic has red on the drawings."

But seriously, I highly doubt we will have the Vulture masked for a majority of the movie. Maybe if the former Stark employee theory/rumor is true, it's used to shield his identity until a climactic moment when Peter/Tony realizes that Toomes is the Vulture. Idk. Makes sense in my head.

Good point there. You don't hire Keaton to keep his face covered throughout the entire movie. Eventually, that mask will come off or be knocked off via a punch or web yank.

Same goes for Bokeem Woodbine as Shocker. That is if they give him the yellow and brown mask.

Could the stuff that Shocker blasts from his gauntlets be repulsor beams like Iron man? Tinkerer may have stole some of it before he was dismissed by Tony.

I like Vulture's look. The only problem's I have are the fact that the wings seem a little too tall, and the owl looking helmet. Other than that, it's what I expected.

I'm just hoping Shocker looks like his 616 counterpart, as that's such a unique and cool design. I also wonder how they're going to portray the shock waves he emits. I always liked the green color used for SSM.

But Shocker's vibrator gloves are nothing like Iron Man's repulsor rays. They're super sonic vibration waves that shocks his victims hence "The Shocker". He wouldn't be called the Shocker if they were, for some, Repulsor beams like Iron Man, they seemed to have stayed to true to Vulture's abilities so I think there's a good chance they'll do the same for Shocker

Is Woodbine really that big of a star? I'm fine with him having scenes maskless, but not during a fight, since he needs his mask as protection from his own weapons.

Not as big as Keaton. He's mostly played supporting or secondary characters, but "Fargo: Season 2" really opened the door for him to be considered for bigger roles. Hence why I am excited to see him as Shocker and yes more than likely he'll have a 50/50 of mask on and off. Plus, there was that call for people to play prison extras so I assume maybe he, whoever Mando is playing and possibly Adrian Toomes or Tinkerer were involved on that shooting day.

Jesus, just because vulture has a mask doesn't mean we wont see his face the majority of the time. Hell its not like we're going to forget its Keaton under there. And that concept art could've been drawn long before keaton was even hired.

Not so much in that Spider-Man has been adapted multiple times into various media and always kept his signature, recognizable basic look. Spider-Man is a transcendent character, ingrained into the collective conscious of American culture (and even worldwide more recently). Vulture has been adapted only a few times, and the most recent ones that I can think of (90s TAS and SSM cartoons) both changed his "iconic" design--a super-90s power armor look in TAS (still greenish for what it's worth) and the Marvel Knights black-and-red for SSM. I don't think it's quite the equivalent of changing Spidey drastically.

Also, I really like the bomber jacket with fur collar idea. lol

Exactly!

I could see that happening, but I'd prefer if they stuck with his original abilities. I really want Spider-Man to make a vibrator joke. :cwink:

 and  on both points.

In the film District 9 there was a weapon that shot blasts like Shocker's, it looked pretty much exactly how I imagine his blasts.

Dont forget in TIH they used stark tech sonic emitters on hulk. Which is how i figured shockers power would be.

I swear to Zod if Shocker uses Stark Tech in this universe...

I wouldn't have a super big problem with this, because in many continuities, Shocker did just steal the tech, but it would be a bit tedious if he and Tinkerer had ties to Stark...and definitely wouldn't want that trend to continue in later films in the series.

It would be absolutely infuriating to me. One Spidey villain essentially being turned into an IM villain annoys me enough, but you give Shocker Stark manufactured tech and that's going toooo ****ing far. We already have a Spider-Man who uses Stark Tech, we already have him trying to bone Aunt May, we already have an Iron Man villain in this movie, we don't need classic rouge Shocker being tied to him too.

I don't disagree, I just won't be done with the film. It would certainly annoy me.

For the record i wasnt implying shocker would have stark tech, simply that we've seen sonic emitters in the mcu already and it happened to be stark tech.

I hated it less than "SM3's" New Goblin snowboarder look, but yes it wasn't the best suit. I was hoping, if Webb had gotten the chance, we could've got Norman in a more traditional GG suit in "ASM3" but alas....

Maybe Marvel will give us that. *Maybe.*

The way things are going with all the ch-ch-changes... I can only expect much more to come.

I wouldn't mind if Shocker's design was like this instead of the classic containment suit that he used with the gloves

Really? Yick.

Yes, hopefully we will get the definitive onscreen Goblin costume soon. Should be much easier to agree upon than definitive Spidey suit. lol

Not when there are still tons of people who want Magic Rubber Mask GG.

Not a fan. Definitely hoping for a more classic looking Shocker rather than a hoodie with a yellow ski mask.
