Revenge of the Fallen The SOUNDWAVE Appreciation thread!

Was it just me or did Soundwave sound like Dr. Claw from the Inspector Gadget cartoon years ago?

I also did love Soundwave and i'm surprised that Bay changed Frank Welker's voice that much. Really if he did that to the voice of Welker , i really do think that he could've voiced Megatron in both movies. Not that i'm complaining about Hugo Weaving ( Agent Smith ftw ! :hehe:). But his voice was quite menacing at times and could've held the gravitas of Megatron.

That's actually the voice Welker always used for Soundwave before they processed it.

This has been repeated about a dozen times, and people are still complaining about lack of Synth on his voice. It's stupid.

He's sounds nothing like G1 Soundwave to me.

Anyhow, i think it would have made a nice robot mode cameo for Soundwave when if at the end when Megs calls for Starscream to help him, Starscream flies off and Soundwave shows up and carries off the wounded Megs.....

^ Welker used the Dr. Claw voice for Soundwave in the cartoon. The only difference was the vocoder(sp?).

I liked it more in the movie, anyway. As someone said before, he sounds ominous.

When it comes to voice actors Frank Welker is the greatest ever. :woot:

I really dug his scenes in space. I really like that we saw his face. I can see why he wasnt in the final battle because we could barely keep up with who was in it to begin with. if there is a 3 then i would like to see him in it. one question though if he came to earth to fight then wouldnt he be huge given the size of a normal satellite?

Has anyone confirmed who the bot was that the spheres turned into? They came from Ravage so I took it as Laserbeak. Anyone?

It was like a weird razor bot that almost resembled his tail.

Had to be Laserbeak. It looked like a weird razor bird thing, served as a sort of surveillance go-getter drone thing, and it was tied to Ravage. I can't imagine it being any other robot.

which one was soundwave. i don't remember him being in the movie??

I could live with his voice without the vocoder,

But it would give it an awesome feel if the effects were put on Soundwave's voice.

That voice is ICONIC.

That's what separates Soundwave from every Transformers.

It made him so distinct and memorable.

When you think of Soundwave, you think of that voice. It really goes hand and hand.

Without that effect on his voice, is like having Superman without an S on his chest, Popeye without spinach, or Hulk not being green.

But like I said, I could live with it.

oh wow...i didn't realize that was soundwave. did he introduce himself. i must hav missed it.

i thought it was fallen until they showed him chillin on his thrown.

I thought fans would immediately recognize him, with him being the Decepticon's spy, ejecting Ravage from his chest and having that monotone voice.

I thought fans would immediately recognize him, with him saying, "Soundwave acknowledges." :oldrazz:

Maybe I'm crazy but Soundwave got the biggest reaction from me out of any of the "new" bots in the movie. My skin was crawling when I heard his voice the first time and he was used perfectly. I dunno how anyone could complain about his voice...

And I'm surprised how many people didn't know Frank Welker also did Dr. Claw. Geez.

I didn't know who Soundwave was until about a month before this movie came out, but the first time I saw him on screen I had a geekgasm. The first time I saw Soundwave, and he spoke I just got this bad-ass vibe coming from him. IMO, Soundwave is one thing Bay did right. The voice, and design was just bad-ass. Yes, people are upset, because he didn't come down to earth, but I am glad. I as a more than casual fan, know who he is. However, my friends don't have a clue who he is or what he is capable of beyond what was in the movie so when he was on screen I kept thinking to myself about how my friends and other people don't know what this guy is capable of. I don't know I just loved knowing that Soundwave is a sleeping nightmare, being kept in reserve, and general audience members don't have a clue of his power. I can't wait to see him unleash hell on some Autobots.

lol my heart was pounding when the army was moving in on Demolishor. I don't know why but I just love that guy. It was awesome to hear his voice, too bad he talked when he was dieing.
