Breaking News: WWE Fires Al Snow

On the heels of WWE ending their affiliation with Ohio Valley Wrestling, they have released Al Snow, who was a long-time trainer in OVW.

More shortly.
WWE is dead to me. DEAD! :cmad:

- WWE will be releasing a new two DVD set on Jeff and Matt Hardy this April. The set is titled “Twist of Fate – The Matt and Jeff Hardy Story.” You can pre-order the DVD from Amazon.com.

- According to subscribers, the issue of Playboy featuring the photo shoot of WWE Diva Maria will be the next issue released as the April 2008 issue.

- TNA Champion Kurt Angle said that WWE “don’t care” about their video games in a promotional presentation in the United Kingdom yesterday promoting TNA’s upcoming iMPACT! video game by Midway. Angle said, "Midway made us all care about [the game], because it made us all realise how important the video game industry is for our sport," he commented. "WWE don't care. They just want to put something together, hurry it up and get it out there just to make money. We spent a lot of money to make this the most authentic wrestling game ever, and we did it." He continued to say that it will be the biggest video game to ever hit the industry and that it is the most authentic wrestling video game ever made.

- Following last night’s announcement by WWE that Friday Night SmackDown will not return to the CW Network after the 2007-2008 season, the obvious question is what is next for WWE’s second highest rated show? According to Variety the most logical choice for WWE would be to get a slot on the USA Network as they already have a relationship with NBC Universal with RAW airing on USA and ECW on the Sci-Fi Channel.

However, Variety also hinted that News Corp.’s MyNetwork TV could be in the running for the series. Obviously Friday Night SmackDown would be the highest rated show on MyNetwork TV but it would have to be considered a huge set backwards for WWE.

If WWE is able to get SmackDown under their current deal with NBC Universal, the USA Network, Bravo, and the Sci-Fi Channel would be the top networks in the running. NBC and MSNBC would be the other options but would be long-shots for obvious reasons. If SmackDown doesn’t fall under WWE’s current deal with NBC Universal or NBC Universal lets WWE shop the show with other networks, there could be several other possibilities.

What does everybody want? ...A JOB! :lmao:

They should find a spot for Al though. FCW, road agent, something.

I think Al will find his way back into the company... If no then wwe can go fluck themselves. Also alot of Headlines are saying CW cancels WWE Smackdown . They are trying to paint Wrestling as unwatched.

****ing WWE firing the Snowman...

- The Wrestlemania 24 PPV in standard definition is listed at $54.95 on iNDemand.com. The HD broadcast is listed at $69.95.

- The "John Cena My Life" DVD has now sold aprox. 55,470 copies.

- Lance Storm has signed on with Jakks to be a part of the Classic Superstars line.

- Karen Angle said today during the Spike TV/TNA conference call that she doesn't work TNA house shows because of her kids.

- Apparently a wrestler approached creative about the logic gaps, overbooking, unrealistic stuff and lack of focused PPV build in terms of booking and was told "We can't be UFC, so we try to be the exact opposite."

-- In this week's Diva Dish on WWE.com, Raw Diva Jillian Hall notes that she got pulled over by a police officer last week for speeding. "I got a speeding ticket last week. I was on the road. I was going 81 in a 65, which is stupid," Hall said. She also added, "The cop was so mean! I was in the car with a fellow Diva and he wouldn’t even look at us! It was like we didn't even exist, like we were just a car. He didn't even talk to us really, he just handed us the ticket. I dislike him, strongly!"

-- Candice Michelle made her long-awaited WWE return at last night's Raw brand house show in Anchorage, Alaska. After intermission, Candice came out to a pretty big pop. She said it was her first day back. She shot some t-shirts into the crowd, and got a pop for mentioning Fairbanks.

-- Lacey Von Erich, daughter of the late Kerry Von Erich who was briefly under a developmental WWE contract last year, will be making an appearance for the WSU women's wrestling promotion on Saturday, March 8 at the ECPW Arena in Lake Hiawatha, New Jersey. She will do an interview segment with Missy Hyatt. Other girls appearing on the show include Dawn Marie (making her first wrestling appearance in nearly two years), TNA Knockout Champion Awesome Kong, and Angelina Love.

-- One WWE Diva hopeful moved all the way from Australia to the United States over the weekend to start at the Ohio Valley Wrestling wrestling school. She started there this week. You can see her MySpace page at this link. As announced yesterday, WWE cut ties with Ohio Valley Wrestling as a developmental territory, instead opting to have all of their contracted developmental talent ply their trade in one place, that being Florida Championship Wrestling. This Diva hopeful is not the only one being left out in the cold as a few indy wrestlers such as April Hunter's husband JD Michaels, Mason Raige and Damian Adams relocated and uprooted their lives to Louisville, Kentucky in hopes of being noticed by WWE through OVW. Also, released wrestlers such as JTG of Cryme Tyme, Ryan Reeves and Chris Cage would go back to OVW in hopes of being noticed by WWE again. According to their website, FCW plans on starting up a wrestling school for WWE hopefuls in the near future, but for the time being, they're going to be left to fend for themselves on the indy scene just like everyone else.

-- Cassidy Riley, who was released by WWE on Monday, commented on his departure from the company on his MySpace page: "Well as you probably know by now, my time at WWE has come to an end.As of Monday , Feb.4, 2008, I was released from the company. I would like to thank all of my fans who have been VERY supportive. I would like to thank Al Snow, for being a great trainer. One of the first lessons I ever learned in this business, is that you nevr stop learning, every time you get in the ring learn something new, and with Al he made that so easy. Thanks AL! I would like to thank Danny Davis for being a father figure to me the past year. I could always go talk to Danny about anything, and he would listen and give me advice. I am truely sorry that OVW will no longer be part of the WWE..its really is the end of an era. I am just glad I was part of that era. Thanks also to KC , maybe one day we will get a REAL chance to show the world how great we really are as a tag team! Many people have asked whats next for me?!? Lets just say I am not planning on retiring anytime soon! But for the next few weeks, I am gonna make up for some lost time with my wife Dee Dee, my dog Mali Mae, and my entire family." Riley's also accepting indy bookings through the page.

-- The Rock was announced as a nominee for Best Actor in this year's Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Awards, which will take place during WrestleMania weekend on Friday, March 29 in Los Angeles.

-- Amish Roadkill, who was released on Monday alongside five other WWE developmental wrestlers, was said to be on the chopping block for quite some time. Johnny Ace was his biggest backer as he put him over huge to Vince McMahon, saying he could be the new One Man Gang, and that he had good mic skills. McMahon saw pictures of Roadkill and thought he looked impressive. He them came up with an idea for him to completely change his look and be a 1970s-style Polish-American heel from Milwaukee. Then one day, McMahon finally met Roadkill in person after being told so much about him, and he came away less than impressed after discovering that Roadkill is actually only 5'9". He's billed as 6'3". WWE kept Roadkill around a little while longer, but he soon disappeared from OVW, and the axe finally fell on him on Monday.

-- The latest issue of Playboy was sent to subscribers this week and there is a preview photo of a clothed Maria wearing lingerie & a feather boa in the back of the magazine plugging the next issue. The preview for next month's issue reads: "Maria Kanellis- The WWE's Sexiest Star has moved from innocent reporter to mistress of the mat. Now her pesky tights are peeled off in a slamming pictorial." The magazine will be officially released on Friday, March 7, but subscribers will likely get it a bit earlier.

-- Promoters interested in booking Al Snow for appearances or camps can do so by e-mailing David Herro at [email protected].

-- Hulk Hogan's WWF Championship Belt that "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig destroyed on an episode of Saturday Night's Main Event in October 1989 is currently up for auction on eBay at this link (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=300196583184). The belt was purchased from the estate of former WWF ring announcer Mel Phillips.

-- Ultimate Warrior has managed to post his videocast on a video sharing site at this link (http://www.megavideo.com/?v=6KEAMKZU). Warrior responds to the Heath Ledger controversy in his first videocast. The cast runs for nearly 40 minutes.

-- Kurt Angle recently did an interview with the "Rise Guys" radio show in Greenville, South Carolina to promote the upcoming Against All Odds PPV, and he said that he expected Bobby Lashley to be the next guy to come to TNA.

-- Speaking of Against All Odds, front row ringside tickets for this Sunday's pay-per-view are still available as of today.

-- Spike TV will not be airing a TNA PPV hype special for Against All Odds this weekend.

(information from the Wrestling Observer, www.f4wonline.com and Wrestling Chatterbox newsletters were used in this report)

So instead of TBA being good and entertaining they purposely suck? Explains a lot.
