i was feeling lukewarm about the movie, but from what i have been reading about the 20 min preview many people from the media got to see i heard nothing but great things about.

saying that it blows out Origins and X3 out of the water and that it's more in line with X1 and X2 in terms of quality. gotta say, i am now looking forward to it.

Yeah thats pretty encouraging but I guess it had to be to get people interested again.

Someone made gifs from that 60 minute video.

Footage from the Wolverine has been used in this promo video for French hip hop band IAM's song 'Marvel':

I've never heard of them but apparently their last album peaked at Number 1 in France, so good promotion in Europe I guess? I don't think there's any new footage, just stuff from the trailers.

The CineEurope expo has concluded, leaving in its wake a few tidbits about some upcoming comic book movies: "X-Men: Days of Future Past," "Thor: The Dark World," and "Captain America: The Winter Soldier." SreenDaily has extensive notes about the presentations. Writing about Fox's presentation, ScreenDaily writes:

"Other highlights in the Fox presentation included... an action sequence from 'The Wolverine,' and Bryan Singer's behind-the-scenes video tour of the set of 'X-Men: Days of Future Past.' Singer noted there was 'a very international flavor to the film' as it is set in Russia, France, China, Washington D.C., New York and beyond."

Wrapping up the Q&A session is Linda, who wants to know more about coordination between the upcoming "The Wolverine" movie and the comics. Wolverine has an incredibly vast following already, but with "The Wolverine" movie coming out next month, do you as editors try to encourage your writers to make the July issue a good jumping-on point for readers to pick up with the character in comics?

Schaefer: That's a great question, Linda! We do try to make sure that there's stuff for new readers to access around movie time. Starting in July, we're doing something super cool with a weekly Infinite Comic that you can get through the Marvel Comics App, which will see Logan on a mission in Japan. And then in August, we have a new Wolverine event kicking off, called "Killable."

Well that will be the only time I ever listen to French hip-hop if nothing else!!

Saw the theatrical trailer on the big screen yesterday. It's a really good one and worked even better at the cinema.

Wow I just read this and it has a lot of details about the first few minutes of the movie.

Q: Because it takes place in another country with a different language, are we going to hear a lot of Japanese?
Mangold: Uh huh. What I've been trying to do, for the most part, is have people, when they're speaking Japanese, speak Japanese

This I like, trying to keep things authentic and true to the location of the film.

Interesting, does this mean we havn't actually seen the SS in the trailers yet?

Q: Can you talk about that Silver Samurai design? Is it as heavy as it looks for the actor to wear?
Mangold: It's a *****. The whole thing will be, I think, a real technical Marvel in the movie. It's going to look pretty beautiful. Francois and the designers working with him came up with a really beautiful design. But I can't probably say more without revealing too much.

Been seeing the tv spots playing a good amount. All the dramatic stuff and all that still looks great. But those action scenes (save for the one Silver Samurai fight) for me are still iffy looking.

Still looking forward to this

Another reason why I think this performs better is due to its production being so under the radar. Lot of nerds keep up-to-date on news about MOS and MCU movies everyday, dissecting set-photos and cryptic tweets. Many in the CB population hasn't done this with the Wolverine. All they know is that it's a personal movie about Wolverine's journey in Japan that comes out after IM3 and MOS. Fans are going to come in fresh with no prior expectations for where they think, or in some instances want, the story to go.

Not going to lie, but I was underwhelmed upon hearing that another Wolverine movie was being made after XO:W. A bad or mediocre film entry (and I feel it was more on the mediocre than bad side) can take the steam out of a franchise. But, I like what I have seen so far. Even if it's a loose adaptation of CLAREMONT/MILLER it looks to be the right kind of film for a cinematic Wolvie. Having actually met/known Hugh I can only hope for the best. He's a class act and should have one really great solo Wolverine movie in the bag before passing the baton off.

Advance tickets go on sale on July 1st.

:awesome:

Lets hope we all get the wolverine film we deserve and want.

I've gone very forth and back on this movie. First I was very excited, then the mediocre first trailers hit and drew my hopes back a bit, but with the latest really good trailer I'm back on the excitement track.

Cautious optimism is where I am sat at the moment. Hoping for the best but after the last couple outings (First Class aside) not without reservation.

He's still being coy about the whole thing (June 26 on twitter)

James Mangold: THE SILVER SAMURAI as played by... ? pic.***********/vm3uUDpj4Z

Adam: @mang0ld IMDb has taken it upon itself to spoil that one, unfortunately.

James Mangold: You underestimate me, Adam. Or perhaps you overestimate IMDB.

this might be a dumb question but does Logan wear a suit (costume) at any point in the movie?

he did in one of the versions of the script but it not clear if that scene remains in the final shooting script.

I wonder when are they gonna release these recent FB pictures without a quote.

Well, just saw 3 different tv spots for the wolverine on Comedy Central, preeeettty awesome! Nothing spectacular or quite different, just a few extended shots and Logan falling on his face in the snow after all the arrows impale him.
