Star Wars has always been about sociopolitical realities. Every single one of them.

Yes, there is a big adventure aspect to it but that doesn't mean it isn't devoid of political allegories. Both the OT and PT are full of them.
 
True, but I think it's how it's handled. Lucas isn't a dumb person, but the political stuff in the Prequels was..dull. And the issue at hand is that, that is the narrative through line. That's how Palpatine gets into power, etc.

There is sociopolitics in Star Wars, of course, but it never feels contemporary, or shouldn't, because it's set "a long time ago, in a galaxy far away," and draws on ancient history and myth. A Star Wars film should never feel like a Nolan Batman movie or Captain America 2. I don't need another allegory of terrorism or the NSA.
