I'm a sorry ass cook lmao

Oh well, I hear Carls Jr. is still open..

CW finished filming yesterday, X-Men finished today. I can't help but think that the time between end of filming to trailer to release will be shorter than BvS's. Sometimes I can't believe how long we've had to wait for this movie.

You can now add SS to that list.

Final Cut makes a great film even greater. I don't expect anything good from the sequel though. These three-decades-later sequels never turn to be so.

Bro the director involved as well as the original team makes me confident we'll get a liked sequel to the first one. It's going to be tough to be better.

For my Mise-Un-Scene class, I had to give my favorite quote. I channelled my inner Conroy and shouted, "I am Vengence! I am the Knight! I AM BATMAN!

I think I scared my teacher and some of my classmates a little bit :D

What about Mad Max?

Well, "Mad Max"... how to put it... I enjoyed it immensely, I really did, it was a very fun action movie with some great, beautifully choreographed action scenes and wonderful scenery and that was pretty much it, it barely has any story going. Again, I enjoyed every second of it (by the way, Hardy really did a great job with all those Mel Gibson-like gestures and expressions), it was a great, action-packed movie, but I don't think it really falls in the same category as the old films. Not quality-wise, just in the way it feels. In some ways, it is quite different. Of course, it is kind of a reboot, so it makes perfect sense to be that way.

Director does promise and inclusion of original team sounds good, though it is the same team 30+ years later, so that should be taken into consideration as well. As of now, I expect one of two outcomes - that we'll get a good movie that doesn't really feel like a sequel to "Blade Runner", but something that is half a continuation of that world and half an entire different film when it comes to how it feels (similarly to aforementioned "Mad Max") or that we'll get a movie that in every way looks and feels like a direct sequel to "Blade Runner" that ultimately doesn't deliver.

Maybe I am just being negative. Again.

We'll see, I certainly hope for the best.

I agree. My point was that Fury Road is an example of a sequel/re-visitation of a 35 year old franchise, something that may have seemed like just another re-tread, but it turned out amazing and I'm really glad it was produced.

Yeah, perhaps it doesn't carry the same vibe as old films, but at least it is not an attempt to completely re-tread it and fall flat in the process like so many films did with sequels.

So, as I said, due to such a long time passing, I expect "Blade Runner" to be either quite different from the first film and doesn't really feel like a sequel set in the same universe or aforementioned case of what I guess could be called self-plagiarism and deliver a washed out copy of a first one. Of course, they might be able to capture the essence of the first "Blade Runner" while delivering fresh story, but for some reason, I don't find that very likely right now. Especially since "Blade Runner" had something to say back in the day, using Philip K. Dick's "Do Androids Dream of Electric Ship?" as basis... since then, main theme of the film has been revisited many times in both literature and film.

I can see where you're coming from mate but I have belief in Vileneuve. Man we really need that guy in the DC universe.:hmr:

He'd definitely be a nice addition to DCEU.

I'm just not sure yet what kind of movie he fit's now seeing as the Batman solo has been taken. He would've killed that. He's got two sci fi movies coming up Story of Your Life with Amy Adams and Blade Runner 2 so if he hit's both out of the park especially BR then I'd want to see him on Green Lantern Corps...maybe. But that's an outside of the box suggestion.

Not a knock on you Wolfie, haha but I just want to say something regarding this. I really enjoyed Mad Max. And while some people claim it barely had a story going, I have to disagree. There's a story in there of redemption and gaining one's humanity back in a world ruled by selfish animals. A world where there's really nothing to live for really. Also, visually it was stimulating and very emotional. Especially that desert scene with Furiosa where she's arrived at the Green place and she defeated, kneels to the sand and screams into the horizon after she was told she's lost most of the family she was wanting to see again after being taken away from them for so long. I feel Mad Max told its story more visually than through dialogue if that makes sense? Haha. But still, the story was there and it was good.

I couldn't agree more. It's very similar to The Road Warrior in that sense.

I prefer the warmer look of the Director's Cut. I found the Final Cut a little too...Blue. I wish I could speak in Cinematographer :woot: but hopefully you understand what I mean.

Batman solo would definitely fit him the most. I am not sure about Green Lantern, as it's a peculiar sort of SF, much closer to "F" than "S" I'd say... perhaps Cyborg...?

You're absolutely right, I agree. Especially with the part that it is told more visually than through dialogue.

Still, I'd say I should have elaborated my post a bit more... what I had in mind has more to do with the technical standpoint when it comes to narrative - the way the story is told that makes it feel like there is much more of a backstory than the story in the current time, at least to me. More like in medias res storytelling (even though it's not really the case), that doesn't develop entirely from all the previously established elements... I suppose that limited setting of the desert somewhat adds to that feel, not to mention the fact that during the whole movie protagonists are fleeing in the truck from the enemy, first in one direction and then in the other. Even though there is an overall theme and that those characters motivations and backgrounds have been depicted clearly, it kind of feels like the film set for much more information to be given to us, but never goes through with that promise.

Again, this is all subjective, so this might not be the case with someone else.

Yeah, I got you. :woot:

Actually, I find that blueish hue fits well with that neo-noir setting and story, but I can see how one can prefer the former to the latter. Here's the comparison:

Director's Cut:

And I can't seem to remember all the differences between the "Final Cut" and "Director's Cut" right now, aside that none of them have that dreadful happy ending. For example, I can't recall whether both versions have those explanatory voice-overs removed or does "Director's Cut" include them...?

By the way, did you know that they completely changed the background in the pigeon scene from the climax in "Director's Cut"?:

Fair points Wolfie. On that elaboration, I see where you're coming from. :)

Oh yeah, the blues fit. it's still a gorgeous looking film.

Right, the DC removed the bland voice over and the happy ending. By the way I think Blade Runner has one the best movie endings where the audience isn't sure what's going to happen next.

The only thing I would change in the DC is that clear blue sky that you mention. That was definitely an improvement in the FC. I don't remember but I'm guessing that Scott didn't have that much of a budget for the DC so he couldn't change it before, and I'm sure he must have wanted to since it's so out of sync with the rest of the movie. Or maybe that was the point. But yeah, I prefer to see that pigeon rocking a dark industrial sky :woot:
