I don't buy this. They're not even in post-production to say that. And also is this the official Fong's twitter? I don't think he has time or was permitted to say these things in that time especially with the secrecy surrounding the movie. Here's a recap. Basically someone asked him on his Twitter about the possibility of getting a more colorful sequel. Larry just said "No".
Yep, his official twitter. These things are usually set in stone well before filming, and it's not one of those things that's bound to secrecy. All he's saying is it'll roughly look the same as the first film. Nothing big there, albeit disappointing.I don't buy this. They're not even in post-production to say that. Since they're tweaking Superman's suit, maybe they will change the film colors to make it a bit more colorful, it should be interesting with other characters involved, specially WW.
He was pretty blunt about that. Boo....
I'm in agreement with most people here, in that I don't want to see any major changes. At most, just subtle changes, such as slightly brighter colors, or even accept the yellow sign on the cape. But no significant alterations to the suit. As some pointed out earlier, it makes no sense- this is a Kryptonian suit left from his family.
On a slightly related note, would any of you want them to bring the curl back?
Well, that's disappointing. They didn't even need to change the suit's colors itself. If you watch the film and adjust the settings on your TV, everything and everyone looks a lot better.
This would imply that he couldn't get a brand new suit all together.

I'm with you. Was really hoping for brighter colours to contrast Batman and Superman (and partly so that people can shut up about overhauling the suit when you see it in its natural colours). Ah well.
Cross him off your brownie list, Kent!![]()
He's been kicked right off the brownie list. I just don't get why he would cling to those under-saturated colors.![]()
That's likely Snyder's call. I have an inkling this desire to present the franchise as mature and grounded directly resulted in the washed out tones. There's a (misunderstood) notion that brightness and color directly correlate with campier affairs. He's been kicked right off the brownie list. MOS was worse for me, but I really, REALLY don't like the 1940s gloss aesthetic that Returns and the first two Raimi Spidey movies had. If MOS2 has the color palate of TDKR I'll be a happy camper.

89 and Returns versions of Gotham were actually heavily inspired by the 1920's German expressionist films of Robert Wiene and F.W. Murnau.
There's a nod to Murnau's Nosferatu with Walken's Max Shreck being named after the actor who played the eponymous vampire.
The 40's aesthetic was more Timm's deal because it was reminiscent of and aimed to be a bookend piece to the Fleischer Superman cartoons of that era.
