Salivating that this might be the project to which James Marsters has been alluding as "in the works," I begged a friend at Fox studio for the skinny. But alas, no dice. "I can tell you there is no Buffyverse movie happening right now," she says. "At least, not at 20th Century Fox. Joss is very busy."

I, too, have heard the rumors flying around that James' next project might be Smallville, but a WB rep tells: "A huge guest star is coming up on show but not [James]. You'll find out at TCA."

By the time you read this, it might be out, but my sources tell me it is none other than Dean Cain who will be guest starring! Yes, Superman on Superman. Pretty neato, no? I'm told he'll be some kind of love interest for Lana and some kind of prince. Nothing like a hot and sexy royal robbing the ol' cradle.

I agree... sheesh. And a Prince? I hope it's not true. It's like they're trying to get the fans to hate Lana more... if that's possible.

Although, I have to say that I could see Dean Cain making a guest appearance as... <whispering> Jor-El.

I have to admit.. I'm EXCITED to have Marsters as Brainiac. I really am.

And to be honest.. he will bring a lot of Buffy fans to the show, Spike was a hugely popular character in a massive fandom that's still going strong. Maybe we'll actually see great ratings..

Once all those Spike fans get a load of SV and TW.. they'll never look back.

I just googled Brainiac, and I can see where the term "the knowledge of the universe was meant for you" comes from. This is cool., This should not only bring in Buffy fans but die hard Supes' fans as well.

I could see Marsters as more Zod than Braniac, but he's a bit young for the General. I really think and hope the Dean Cain thing is BS as I know neither Millar or Gough were L&C fans. Having him as a prince and Lana love interest is even worse. This season needs to be about her and Clark, and them letting go once and for all...

I wasted my big reaction in the other thread =( Ah well I'm really excited James Marsters is one of only a handful of actors that I would have gotten excited about so lucky me! I hope the Dean Cain rumor isn't true =( if so poor Lana will be even more hated than she is now. Not everyone has to love her and a prince blech, sounds very daytime soap.

meh her significance in the series falls well below that of Lionel, Jonathan, Martha, and even Lois.... I just find it odd that they try and make her some sort of equal with the big guns when in fact her character is really just a bit player in the series with no impact on the mythos. Frankly ever since they brough Lois in, she became pointless, as that was her niche on the show to be the "Lois like" influence in his early life....
