^ Im a curious person, so yeah I find it curious. Maybe they are just taking a break from filming. It does seem that Smallville is a little head of schedule this year, compared to last year. I don't think we got this many Spoilers as of last year. I could be wrong though.

I don't know if a week is really a hiatus though. But I don't see anything negative coming from it...

I think your right it feels like we got a lot more this year then last

Oh, I wasn't sure if it was actually negative or anything, I was more thinking they were rearranging things to suit someone's schedule, like maybe whoever they got for directing League or maybe Tom had something going on...

But actually, Craig explained it to me.

He said that they usually take a week long break earlier in the production schedule and probably didn't because they were trying to get the first ten episodes in the can so they could show them all in a row....

So, this break was to compensate for the lack of the earlier break they usually take.

Also, they are likely getting ready to film the 11th episode, League... sounds like it might need more prep work than normal.

Interesting thing I found over on the Director's Guild for Canada, BC chapter's web site:

Under the listing for Smallville it says this:

(**HIATUS** - SEPT. 29-OCT.5)

This is where I found this:

http://www.dgcbc.com/productions.pdf

Anyone have a clue why they're taking a weeklong hiatus in filming, seems like the timing is that it will happen between shooting what is likely eps 10 and 11?

Is this interesting to just me, or does anyone also find this curious...

Rosh Hashana?

So WB/DC has finally gotten their act together and the GL movie is moving forward. Exciting news because word is that this particular script is a big wet kiss to fanboys (who deserve it after putting up with the Jack Black rumors).

One thing that I learned in some of the news accounts is that Michael Green is a producer on the movie. He was a producer/writer in the first season of Smallville (he wrote eps like "Craving" and "Nicodemus"). And it got me thinking (though I know it's highly unlikely) that maybe we can get TW a cameo in the GL flick?

There's supposed to be a scene in the movie in which Abin Sur's ring, when looking for a suitable bearer of the ring, come upon Clark Kent before getting to Hal Jordan. Wouldn't this be an awesome opportunity for Welling to cameo?

Think about it, there's nothing in the scene that would necessarily point out that the guy being passed up for the ring has any extensive dialog to explain who he is. And, unless they've figured out what to do about the Superman reboot, no one else is currently cast as Clark Kent (except Tom). So, we could have a five second cameo of Welling (maybe even in glasses) getting passed over by the GL ring.

By casting Tom, your audience instantly knows it's Clark Kent. Otherwise, you'd just have a random black-haired dude in glasses who may or may not be Clark Kent.

What do you think? I doubt it's possible. But it's definitely plausible, no?

If there's a Superman cameo in the GL movie, I think they won't even show his face just to save money.

A small bit part like that he would probably only get Union Scale, which I think is only a few hundred a day.

Less if he says nothing and isn't credited and is paid as an extra.

He'd be there for the fun of it since he doesn't need that money, so he might agree to it, if it comes up.

I read somewhere in a GL script review Clark Kent did have a cameo in the movie as a reporter only though wish I still had that link, if I find it I'll post it up.

You are a genius. Make it happen, please.

You guys hear about The Graysons?

I guess since Nolan has put the kabosh on Robin in the film franchise, they decided to let The CW play with him.

Kelly Souders, Brian Peterson and McG are exec producing the pre-Robin Dick (they're calling him "DJ") Grayson....

http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117993158.html?categoryId=14&cs=1

Holy prequel, Boy Wonder, the CW is prepping a series based on Batman sidekick Robin’s pre-Caped Crusader days.
"Smallville" exec producers Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson, as well as "Supernatural" exec producer McG, are behind "The Graysons," which has landed a put pilot commitment at the netlet.

Just as "Smallville" focused on Clark Kent in the years before he became Superman, "The Graysons" will follow the world of Dick "DJ" Grayson before he takes on the iconic Robin identity and aligns himself with Batman.

Project reps the latest DC Comics franchise to be mined for the smallscreen by sibling Warner Bros. TV. McG’s Wonderland Sound and Vision label is also attached.

Souders, Peterson, McG and Wonderland’s Peter Johnson will exec produce.

"The Graysons" is seen as a potential replacement for "Smallville" should that show end its run this season, which has been speculated. Should "Smallville" return next year, "The Graysons" might also make a strong companion piece.

CW insiders said they also see the "Graysons" development as a validating gesture by Warner Bros. that the company is still behind its 50% investment in the netlet, particularly following this fall’s strong openings for "Gossip Girl" and newbie "90210." They believe the studio wouldn’t risk bringing one of its prized franchises to CW if it believed the net was in dire straits.

In the one-hour "Graysons," which will be set in modern times, young DJ will face challenges involving first loves, young rivals and his family as he grows up. Souders and Peterson have come up with an original take on the character.

True.

After I posted this that's was one thing I was thinking...

:(

I think the interesting part of the article, especially if this doesn't get a series order, is the fact that WB TV is still committed to sending its shows to The CW.

News that Smallville may have one more season left after this one and this might make me think that the netlet won't shutter at the end of this seaswon.

Holy crap. Out of all the possible spinoff series or interesting d-level heroes they could have done, they are going to do Robin's family before he becomes Robin? How the hell is that the least bit interesting?

Why the hell didn't they do that Starman TV series? He's not a top tier DC character, but he'd make one hell of a TV series.

I'm just aghast at how the hell anyone thinks this is a good idea? Robin?? A pre-Batman Robin???? How can anyone seriously think this show will appeal to the CW crowd? Clark Kent has an epic destiny, Grayson's destiny is Batman's sidekick. I mean come on!!

This just goes to show you that just because you're in Hollywood, does not make you intelligent. There's no way you can do an entire series about a young Dick Grayson. There's absolutely nothing remotely interesting about his pre-Batman days. Sure, you can make up some BS that would capture some interest....for about an episode or two. But an entire series?

This is sad.

Instead of "The Graysons", they should of done at least the young teen titans.

Its going to be like any other CW show, just happened that the lead character is named Dick Grayson.

The Grayson's is probably the wost move the CW could do because really you can't do a series with Dick Grayson without having Batman/Bruce Wayne show up and all the series really can be about is life at the circus. I do understand though why they can't show him as Robin because you do have the Teen Titans movie still coming out and you have the WB pushing to have him in the next movie. I also see why they won't give Green Arrow a spin off because it looks like Supermax will happen and you can be sure that if it does BC will show up. But the problem is the CW is going to run into the same problem it did with Birds of Prey and that is you can't have a Batman show with none of its villains or Batman and Gordan. The only person who maybe can be on that show is Babs.

The Graysons???????????

This is just another way to captilize on the success of The Dark Knight IMO. Maybe they assume it is a sure thing to boost the network.

With it's popularity on SV we should be hearing about a GA/JLA series if anything. But I assume that a pre-Robin series will be much cheaper to shoot than a GA or Justice League one would be.

But since Richard becomes Robin at a fairly young age----how old will he be when the show begins?? Unless they are going to go the Shumacher route (age wise).

uuuggghhhh......

DJ Grayson, growing up in the circus, getting a hankering for short shorts and masks and the flying trapeze...

Gotta say, they caught me unawares with this announcement. Totally off my radar. Don't think it has ever crossed my mind to do a standalone Robin series.

Bring back the Aquaman series!

You won't hear these things because Green Arrow has a movie coming out (Supermax) Justice League despite its problems still is in the works. Grayson can work because if Dick does show up in the Batman movies and Teen Titans it will not cover what the show will cover. The movie will cover his parents death and him becoming Robin Grayson will cover the before stuff which I think is kind of dumb seeing how Bruce was the one to train Dick in fighting and how Dick was always portrayed as the good son in comics and on TV before his parents died and also how Dick was never dark (like Batman) until after he became Nightwing.

Holy crap Batman!

This has fail written all over. "DJ"? Are you freaking serious CW? I'm losing respect for Souders and Peterson, even Aquaman is a better idea than "DJ" Grayson! They just don't have the money to do a JL series, so the next best thing is a series about the "Boy Wonder"? Nightwing is a better option, but no, they have to repeat the same teen drama, the people at DC are on crack for allowing this nonsense.

So the CW has finally found a way to get the comic audience to watch a 90210/Gossip Girl/The OC show. There is no way to do an interesting show based off the Graysons...that is just stupid. This sentence is indicative of the CW's bottom line.

I think my brain just burst.

I want a Green Arrow show. :down
