Well, if it's any consolation, it's only been ordered to Pilot.

They haven't picked it up as a series yet.

This is pretty weal. Of all the potential replacement series they could've done with JLA, Supergirl, and Green Arrow that they've successfully kickstarted in Smallville, THIS is the one that they choose to do?

The huge problem with doing a pre-Robin Dick Grayson series is that he becomes the Boy Wonder when he's like 14-15 years old. I could possibly see the premise of a show if you had him actually becoming Robin in the show and centered it around him balancing his life as a crime fighter vs. that of a normal teen similar to what they did in Spider-man, but what the hell is he going to be doing in his pre-Robin days? Working at the circus and running home to watch Yu Gi Oh? My guess is that they're going to delay him becoming Robin until he's in his late teens or early 20's which basically defeats the point of ever making him Robin. At that point they should just skip Robin and have him go right to Nightwing.

I don't think we'll even see the Pilot of this show ever made. The idea will probably get canned before they go into production. I think a Green Arrow spin-off has a better shot after Smallville is done.

Heh, a show about pre-Robin Robin?

Like, what's there to tell? Unless you change the character complitely, this can't be anything but stupid teen relationship junk.

How about we meet Robin-in-training? Like, Batman has sent him for some quest to grow and first and foremost, live, before dedicating himself wholly on the life of fighting crime. Like, having adventures as a volunteer worker in so called hot zones.

Hey, I like this idea. If the show's anything like this I'm expecting some royalties!

If they make this Grayson show, I hope it goes up against SV. Just so the CW can watch SV blow it away in ratings.:o

It's going to get made, I think the trick will be whether it will be picked up and get a series order...

The thing is, unless they're going to rewrite Dick's origin, I'm not sure I can see them having a 14 year old in the lead.

Well, not an actual 14 year old anyway.

Tom was 23 or 24 when he did the Pilot of Smallville and he played a 15 year old.

He looked younger than his actual age so it worked, but can they really find a kid of about 18 or 20 years old that could believably play a kid?

I don't know if I would be interested in watching this show. Robin's story doesn't get really interesting until after his parents are killed and he's taken in by Bruce.

*shrug*

I might tune in the first episode out of curiosity if, and that's a big IF, it gets picked up.

But I think that will be a neat trick. They didn't pick up Aquaman and haven't ordered Green Arrow, I don't know if this premise works better than the Aquaman show would have.

It probably could work I mean we would learn more about Grayson and his upbringing... like what happens before he meets Batman could be the basis of why he doesnt become as dark as Batman because he has learnt to do things his way, but, you could make him reckless like when he's fighting crime in the show... its for fun and to help people but when he meets Batman its to make sure what happens to him doesnt happen to anyone else

I don't know...

I mean should Dick Grayson really be a sometype of crimefighter before the death of his Parent's and Batman's influence? And you know he will have to be because I can't see them making it just about his relationships and life in the circus.

I am always open for new and exciting interpretations of characters, but just do not see this working. Or at least working well.

I can't believe CW would pick up a Grayson show and not pick up the Aquaman show AlMiles did. Or for that matter, a Green Arrow or JLA show. What's wrong with the Smallville producers? They've been going great so far with the show and now they pull this?

It'll be interesting to see how they handle his origin story in the pilot. I just can't imagine this series actually being picked up. But I guess u never know? The pilot could surprise everyone and actually turn out to be pretty good.

I'm just gonna go ahead and laugh at this statement. He looked like a 23 year old, trying to play a 15 years old, and now he looks like a near 30 year old, playing a 23 year old.

But it was acceptable since we are dealing with Superman. It's not a far fetched concept to have Superman as a fifteen year old look older then he actually is.

The ONLY way it could be even remotely interesting is if it somehow deals with Dick's parents getting mixed up with Tony Zucco and the mob.

Unfortunately, I get the feeling it's going to be more about Dick's angsty romantic entanglements (even though he'll be, what, 10 on the show?)

I doubt they'll even be circus performers anymore. Maybe they'll say Dick's a gymnast or something.

its probably a matter of perspective. People who you are older than tend to look younger to you as opposed to people who are your peers

I remember when I was in high school I thought the cast of 90210 was ridiculous because they all looked older than anyone in my high school by about 5 years. I was 26 when Smallville debuted in 2001 and didnt really find them to look all that unbelievable as high school kids. I'm sure people who were in high school in 2001 were looking at Tom like WTF?

how would two shows go up against one another on the same network?

Ok, yeah I worded that wrong.

What I meant was, SV comes at 7...gets awesome ratings. Grayson comes on say, like on Tuesday at 7 and does horrible. They would then realize that SV fans don't want a Grayson show, but an SV spin-off instead.

I just had to take some Percocets, so my brain isn't working quite right, I'm sorry... It made sense at the time.:csad:

Well, to go with what you said.

If you go back and watch those seasons over, they do actually look their age. Well to me..especially seasons 1,2 and 3.

I see what you are saying and agree. It's in the eye of the beholder.:woot:

I'm halfway through season 7 on Blu-Ray, and just wanted to say that the new editor is probably the most annoying character I've ever seen on Smallville's history. Otherwise it hasn't been too bad. Thanks. *goes back to watching*

I thought he was a little over the top but he did have a few funny lines. He played the part of young arrogant editor perfectly in my mind.
