thanks everyone for the kind words. The suddeness of everything, and his age, are what bother me the most about this whole thing. I, and I'm sure he, feel very cheated by the whole thing.

I am so sorry Hulk. We just recently adopted two kittens to replace the one we lost after moving across country. It's never easy to loose a friend especially one that only gives joy.

Our former cat was a stray that adopted us when we lived in Washington. He had been abandoned once (he was already declawed and neutered) and we couldn't do it to him again so we paid to get him up to date on his shots so he could come with us. We'd been here a month when my children had the luxury of seeing him hit by a car. Needless to say our newest additions are house bound, but they are very loved. Maybe sometimes too much. (my kids are 5 and 7) Please don't feel bad about sharing, sometimes it's easier with peope who don't know you as well.

Hulk, I think most of us have been there so you can always "talk" about it if you need to.

I've lost pets in the past, young ones and suddenly, so I know that what you're going through. It's devastating.

Hang in there.

I'm so sorry Hulk, this one's never easy to deal with. I lost my little ball of fur a few months back, and I made the mistake of holding it in until it burst out - you should never feel bad for getting out what you need to say.

Hopefully you can take some solace in the fact that Mickey isn't suffering now. I'm sure the only thing he'll be feeling cheated out of is those games of "hide the face," but he'll also know that you'll be with him again soon enough; you don't have to be religious to trust that we end up with our loved ones eventually.

His life was short but thanks to you, it was happy. Think of him and smile. :)

Sorry to hear about that Hulk. I had to put down my cat 2 years ago when he suddenly developed kidney failure. We didn't know and we found him outside struggling to move his back legs. It was the saddest thing when he tried to climb up the stairs and couldn't do it, instead meowing in pain and falling to the side laying there. Pets are great friends, and they are not replacable. Hang in there, as they say remember the good times.

thanks to all of you again, youre all wonderful people...

I never owned a cat before him so I really have no point of reference for all this. I grew up in a "dog family" and the one dog I got as a kid lived for 15 years, and finally had to be put down due to hip dysplasia and another degen condition. We knew it was coming with her, and I was on the other side of the country when my parents took her in. I was upset then but had been expecting it.
This is like 1000 times worse. The vet said even if he felt something was wrong he wouldnt show any signs because it's instinctual for cats to hide that sort of thing, but I know he was fine beforehand, I could read his mood like a book.
Another sad part is our dog Jack, a West Highland Terrier, has been looking for him since he got up this morning, since they were accustomed to playing some little games of chase, and would usually lay around one another. He "knows" something is up.... :(

I grew up in a dog family as well. My first few weeks of college I adopted a kitten, and I haven't been without a cat since.. just one at a time though. I love dogs and I miss having one sometimes, but once you get used to having a cat, the high maintenance of a dog just isn't that appealing.

That's so sad about your Jack. :(

So sorry, Brian. My deepest condolences. I know what it's like to have to put down a beloved pet. It's a painful experience, and it's not easily forgotten, unfortunately. :(

I'm so sorry to hear about Mickey, Hulk. What a gorgeous kitty!
I have had much experience with similar tragedies this year, Hulk, and I'd like to write much more to yo[u[, but it will have to wait until I get my keyboard fixed. Contrary to Pat's thinking m y posts of late have been in brilliant code.... I can't take credit...it really is my keyboard....I have to backspace o[ut the extra m's....

Hulk, I don't think Mickey is feeling cheated. I think he's thinking how blessed he's been to have been so thorou[ghly loved and played with for six years, by a warm hearted m an who is strong eno[ugh to cry becau[se he cares deeply for his cat-_--and who also loved his Mickey eno[ugh to risk a broken heart so that his best b[uddy could have a peaceful and painless exit from this life, even if that exit ca me all too qu[ickly.

Please know that you are not alone in having su[ch deep feelings for a pet and many people have felt as you do, and have gone through this. It may always hurt a lot or a bit, b[ut yo[u will get thro[ugh this. Don't feel badly for telling us. I'm very glad you did. (You have no idea.... :-)

Whatever your spiritu[al beliefs, I'm sure you'll see Mickey again some day. All you need to do is to look into their eyes, and you can see that they're not just a body.

Be kind to yourself, Hulk. *Hugs*

thank you for the kind words. My wife and i are slowly trying to get thought this. We decided to have him cremated and to get his ashes back. We thought he deserved better than to just be discarded carelessly. I think I may sit the box on his favorite window sill next to a picture of him, for atleast a while,

That's a lovely idea. I'm sure you'll be feeling his presence in your life for some time to come, and it will give you comfort to have a physical reminder of him also present.

Oh Hulk! I never come into this thread and I did today because it was the only one active. This is heartbreaking! Your kitty is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen, but more importantly, your connection to your kitty is so apparent. That in itself is beautiful.

Please know how sorry I am for your loss. That is a shocking, horrible thing to experience. Melly just went through that very same thing last year when we were chatting online. It was horrible.

I hope time helps you to come to grips with this terrible loss. Poor thing. We are all thinking of you!

Thanks rumpuso.

Each day it gets a little easier, though at times, something happens like I find something of his, and I feel like I go through it all over again. Last night I was rooting through a drawer looking for some cables and I came across his kitten collar which I ddint even know I still had. That brought back all kinds of memories, at first happy and then sad. Tomorrow we'll get his remains back, and I find something comforting in knowing that he'll be home with us for good again.

Advance Pilot Screening: The WB's Supernatural
Be among the first to see one of this fall's most anticipated new dramas! Producer Peter Johnson (The O.C., 24, House) will be on hand to introduce the episode. McG (The O.C., Charlie's Angels movies), Eric Kripke (Boogeyman, Tarzan), and Robert Singer (Smallville, Monk) executive produce. Supernatural is produced by Warner Bros. Man, I'd love to attend that... I wonder if all the new movie panels are presented in that same Hall H?

I'm still debating on attending Wizard World when it hits Chicago. I want to meet Jeph Loeb (I'm sure he's dying for my SV ideas ;)) and Alex Ross (I wonder if he sells any original art at these cons?). It's on the "pending" agenda right now.. If I can make it, I will.

If he does, I'm sure it's wicked expensive. I wouldn't mind meeting Ross too, if only to shake his hand and tell him how much I agreed with him. *snicker* :p

Oh, btw...
Who is "Troy" and what role is (s)he playing in SV???
