The Thing (remake)

Another one? o_o

So what this is a remake of a remake of a remake?

The Kurt Russell one will always be the best. I'm so tired of this remake bull****, Hollywood's out of ideas.

Abother one? Aren't they remaking the Fly again too?:csad:

I've noticed something people love remaking Carpenter's movies. Lol. I don't know what I'd do if I was him, be honored or step back and go ''Wait, what the **** was wrong with the way I did it?"

Well they have already done it with King Kong. It wouldn't surprised me if they did it with another movie. I am still waiting for the day we get a remake of a remake of a remake of a remake. Woah I am dizzy now. Goddamn Hollywood milking every movie ****ing dry.

It's going to be impossible to top the first one. The site of a man's head pulling itself away from it's body and then growing legs out of it so it can move around is one of the craziest visuals I've seen in cinema. One of many in that film.

You mean top the second one.

Well, I don't like this...but if it's the only way to get every deleted scene onto a new dvd release with even more extras...then it's fine by me.

Really. We should be leaping for joy when they do a remake of an old classic, 'cause the prospect of capitalizing on the renewed interest is the only thing that makes it worth the bigwig's while to re-release beautified versions of the classics with tons of cool interviews and features.

FOR instance, pretty much everytime I've gone to buy a new DVD for the past 100 years, I'll look in vain at the F's, hoping to finally find
Flash Gordon (1980).

It's finally out after all these years in a "Deluxe" format, this classic, life-changing movie, finally.
And it's just because there's a new Flash Gordon series on the Sci-Fi network.
Also, a remake's purported to be on the way.

Cool, watch your glossy but bloodless, lowest-common-denominator remake.
I finally get to see FLASH GORDON again.

So, they're doing a remake of a remake huh?

Were there any sequals? I know theren was a game that took place after the first movie ended.

This pretty much sucks. John Carpenter's is one of my fav horror movies ever. I think for the remake there going to go overboard and "try to hard" with gore/effects trying to outdo the old yet still badass(yes, to me those effects still hold up) scenes of Carpenter's. If they want this movie to be good they need to make sure the paranoia factor is a huge vibe throughout the film. Keep people guessing and on the edge of their seats.

Say goodbye to that wonderful ending about how neither knew if the other was a human or the Thing....

The Kurt Russell one will always be the best. I'm so tired of this remake bull****, Hollywood's out of ideas.

Agreed.

If they go the halfassed route and use CGI for the monster...:cmad:

Part of the Kurt Russell version's appeal is how real the monster looks, even with all the effects we have today. :csad:

I think Carpenters just ran out of money and is selling the rights to his characters off :p

i see the need for remaking Escape from New York but remaking the Thing???

c'mon...it's almost perfect the way it is. if they HAVE to bring back "the thing" i'd rather see a sequel or prequel...

Instead of remaking Halloween, The Thing, etc, it would be better if Hollywood remade the crap ones - Escape from LA, Ghost of Mars, Vampires, etc.

^ They need to restart the Plissken franchise and go from there. Forget LA which was a hokey remake of the 1st film basically. I want to see Escape from NY and then a new adventure for Plissken. Maybe with the Government forcing him on a mission to rescue someone not on an Island Prison in the next film. Perhaps at the end of the first film after he saves the president...the government leaves Snake on the Island. The next film could be him escaping from the Island.

but then they couldn't call the first film 'escape from' anything...

and i for one would love to see a remake of the thing... don't get me wrong, it's one of the few horror movies that holds up today, but with today's special effects and everything, they could make some pretty disturbing stuff.

So what, There was a remake of the orginal king kong, then sombody made a remake of a remake in 2005.

The 80's version was damn near perfect and has hardly dated at all. The only thing any remake has going for it is the use of the latest FX, but that's it.

Seriously, rather than re-making it they should go with what fans of the Carpenter/Russell version have wanted for over 2 decades: A sequel.
