Thor: Ragnarok "The film is directed with profligate pizzazz by iconoclastic New Zealander Taika Waititi who seems to hold two fingers up to the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, even as he caresses it with delicate affection. "

I know it's a stretch, but if they could somehow stop at like 15-16 rotten ones in total, this could become the highest rated MCU movie at 95%(~300 reviews).

The 100 mark looking pretty close now. Funny to think it'd have a creditable 80% which many films would kill for, even if all of the next 18 reviews were rotten.

That would be quite an achievement indeed! Not to toot my own horn of course but that was my prediction after the initial twitter reactions came in. Hope it's couple percent higher even... I wouldn't feel so bad about that either. Lol.
95%. Not necessarily because it could be the best Mcu movie or if it's better than this or that movie. I just think critics absolutely love Taika's brand of humor and sensibility. From what I can gather, this seems to be a 100% Taika imprint and when combined with a grand storyline and characters from the Marvel library, I can only imagine Ragnorok being a more zany epic 'Wilderpeople', which had ridiculously high score I believe.

Ha, nice prediction!

Long way to go though of course.

3rd rotten was added. It was a review we already saw coming, but weren't sure of if it would be rotten or not(it's mixed).

As much fun as it is, Ragnarok, by treating everything as an opportunity for a goof, forfeits any chance of taking root in your imagination. Nothing matters here.
Another Fresh one was added as well:

Turns down the Shakespearean pretensions, cranks up the humor and delivers what is essentially an action-comedy with swords and capes.

Well lucky number 98 didn't last very long now did it...lol.
Not to worry tho. With Taika's movies, there's always a solid chance to climb back up!

Well, Mr. Smith underestimates my capacity for goofy imaginings.

The question is: How's Marvel going to top the Waititi effect?

So the thing that I don't understand is why certified fresh doesn't kick in anytime you have 60 fresh reviews and less than 80 in total. I mean 60 out of 80 is the threshold of positive reviews you have to get so why not certify Ragnarok when it hit 60? Even the next 19 came in rotten it would still be certified.

I think I have too much time on my hands or my brain works funny....or both.

Movies and TV shows are Certified Fresh with a steady Tomatometer of 75% or higher after a set amount of reviews (80 for wide-release movies, 40 for limited-release movies, 20 for TV shows), including 5 reviews from Top Critics.

It might be about the word "steady" there.
English is not my first language but I think what they mean is that 19 rotten reviews in a row would imply something's wrong.

That actually makes sense to me. There must be something wrong with you too. :cwink:

Thor: Ragnarok "This is a perfectly balanced film, with great pacing, an engaging plot and impeccable delivery from actors and director alike. The best fun you'll have all week."

What did vox.com say about Thor: Ragnarok?

By Odin's beard, I never would have expected this level of positivity.

Gave it a 4/5 and this:
But the third film in the series, Thor: Ragnarok, completely changes that, flexing its self-awareness as the movie and its star laugh both at themselves and with their audience. It’s the first Thor movie that will make you want to see more Thor movies, because it’s the first Thor movie with an idea of what makes its titular hero worth rooting for.

I skimmed it quite a bit, still wary of spoilers.

It's no surprise the director of Boy and Hunt for the Wilderpeople could bring out a softer side to the Marvel material.

Clearly, third time is a charm for Thor as Ragnarok is the best film on the Asgardian till date, and another entry from Marvel you simply cannot miss!

Oh I didn't notice that 3rd rotten sneak in there.

Still closing in on 100 and still got the 7.7 average holding.

Maybe someone already answered this, but how do you check in RT how do you compare one film's score to another at a particular number of reviews?

You can sort the reviews in chronological order and count the negatives (usually much less of them) up to the point you want.
