Waititi has not found the answers in making Thor a more exciting character, but he has found ways to go around this flaw and make his film a, sometimes, inspiring affair.

EDIT: 2 days later, this rotten review was changed into a fresh review. The critic changed his rating from C+ to B- as well.

Here’s the thing: @TaikaWaititi has made a modern masterpiece. Epic, hilarious, gorgeous, heartfelt, and hilarious. I’m SO HAPPY #hilarious

I wonder if this fellow is counted on Rotten Tomatoes. :woot:

4 rottens out of 89 reviews is not a lot, "Logan" had even more rottens after 89 reviews and it ended up with a 93%.

Now that's quite the endorsement.

Full of one-liners, bon mots and pratfalls, "Thor: Ragnarok" is as close as the Marvel Cinematic Universe has gotten to a full-on screwball comedy.

Yeah, based on historical trends, barring a catastrophic fall in the score (which is highly improbable at this stage), I don't see this falling below the 92-93% level. I just want to see if it can stay at the elite 94% or (God forbid) hit the record 95%. Let's go! :woot:

"Like the antic entertainer at a children's party, director Taiki Waititi keeps us distracted with sudden noises, bright objects and silly jokes. It's not a bad plan."

Ragnarok is unpretentious high-spirited entertainment that feels like a breath of fresh air.

It's very silly, huge fun, and actually, in its vibrant use of colour, truer to its comic- book roots than most superhero movies.

Its preference for wit over CGI exhibitionism and portentous cod mythologising makes this among the best of Marvel's 17 films, and by an Asgardian country mile the funniest.

That's a really nice endorsement from an icon in this film genre.

Just 6 more till 100. Looking like it will be in very healthy shape at that point and the average is also holding out very well.

At least that rotten didn't sound too scathing.

Thor: Ragnarok "Will probably rank highly in the Marvel canon for fans, while even those somewhat worn down by the many entries will find a lot of things to like about it. A great "soft" reboot for the character."

Even more than the Guardians films, this has the crowded, colourful, double-page-spread look of classic Marvel, with much eye-pleasing detail.

So far, the rottens are all mixed rather than fully negative.

The rottens have started surfacing now. Really hope it ends up at around 92-93%.

No.5

Yeah, probably why the average has been ignoring them.

The good news is that the tomato meter becomes a little more stable with more rottens. It's easier to maintain score of 95 than 99.

These Marvel sagas are insurmountably better than the relentlessly po-faced, self-important, chaotic and cruel DC movies.

That's the 2nd highest RT percentage an MCU movie has had after the first 100 reviews were in. Other MCU movies that were at 90+ after the first 100 reviews:

Iron Man: 96
The Avengers: 94
Captain America: Civil War: 94
Spider-Man: Homecoming: 92
Captain America: The Winter Solider: 91
Doctor Strange: 91

Thor: Ragnarok is being released outside of the US in many countries first, and usually movies that are released outside of the US first drop a bit more than those that are released simultaneously. On average, MCU movies that were released in many foreign markets one week before the domestic release have dropped 3% from their score after 100 reviews.
