The Thor: Ragnarok Rotten Tomatoes/Critic's Reaction Thread

I think the big 2 just became a big 3. Thor is so good here I think he could take the MCU by the scruff of the neck after A4 where one or both of Cap and Stark could be winding down (or dead :csad:).

Should have been the Big Three from the get go, should have never taken 2 films to get there.

No matter your (or mine, positive) opinion, if the movie clicks with the audience at large it will do what Winter Soldier also did.
In the end that's Feige's job; we will see how it will fare, looking good right now.

The movie is breaking records in several countries for best October opening day.

Keeping pace with Doctor Strange's drops in South Korea over the weekend. Target for South Korea is to finish with about $35M. Big increase from TDW's $21.1M there.

Also, Feige's comment was not to suggest that both Winter Soldier and Thor Ragnarok are the same type of movie, but him saying that both movies play a large roll in shaping the landscape of the movies that will follow within that same phase.

Of course, but that's not on Taika or the Russos.

Found one more fresh that hasn't been added.

Reviews that I know of that qualify for rotten tomatoes, but haven't been added yet(beware, they contain spoilers):

Ben Skipper (International Business Times) (3.5/5)
James Hunt (DenofGeek) (3/5)
Sarah Watt (Stuff.co.nz) (3.5/5)
Michael O'Sullivan (Washington Post) (4/4)
Karen D'Souza (San Jose Mercury News) (3.5/4)
Anthony Morris (sbs.com.au) (4/5)
Joseph Walsh (CineVue) (4/5)
Eric Kohn (indieWire) B

All fresh.
Chris Newbould - The National

It's extremely amusing that the big 3 had their best films in "order":
Iron Man - Iron Man 1
Captain America - Winter Soldier
Thor - Ragnarok

Despite being spoiled to high heaven, I am still eagerly looking forward to the movie and can't wait to see how all this plays out.

Did they fix one rotten and made it fresh or...?

It seems like Jordan Ruimy's review has been changed from rotten to fresh.

Looking back in the thread his review was a C+ when it was posted on RT but now it says B- on both RT and in the actual review, so either he changed his score or RT made an error.

Just looked up his review and used google's cached memory to check, and it was a C+ in his review before as well, so RT didn't make a mistake, he actually changed the score in his review.

That is weird how that turned out. Too bad Thor didn't get 2 great movies like Cap did.

Awesome, back up to 96% :woot: Maybe the reviewer saw Ragnarok again and decided he enjoyed it more on his second viewing so changed his rotten to a fresh?

Yeah, maybe he saw it again, or maybe it got better after he thought about it.

Or maybe his wife loved it and made him sleep on the couch until he changed his review into a fresh one :p

I would say that reflects the different difficulty of adaptation of the characters a bit.
That detracts nothing from the greatness of Favreau's first outing.

Thor Ragnarok: the movie so awesome, it can even reverse rotten scores. :woot:

Maybe the reviewer after putting in the rotten score went to turn off the lights so he could go to bed and was jolted by a pulse of electricity. Feeling this was a bad sign, he decided it would be best to change his score to fresh before the God of Thunder decides to discipline him further. Lol

That might yet come to pass. The amount of talk about another Thor film with Waititi seems too much to just be idle chatter.

I think this movie improves with repeat viewings. Not because there is great thematic depth, but because there is so much to take in, in terms of the characters and sheer style. It moves so relentlessly fast that it can be hard to absorb all the quirks and other details of the world.

Yes,saw it again yesterday and for me that's totally the case.
