I blame the armor gimmick for limiting the characters the game can have. There are just some characters that would be great additions (Plastic Man, Beast Boy, etc.) that would be great additions, but just wouldn't work with the armor stuff.
cause of what you said here I just remembered something from one of the many DCUO videos with the dev's that where they had meeting with the publishers of both SOE & WBI where executivesfrom both those two would tell the dev's which character they can use. when they were planing the fist storyline for DCUO the plan was for vandal savage to be the big bad but they went with brainiac cause an excutive from from the other said that vandal was well know enough to the public even though JLU the animated was very popular and it did make sense to the dev's aand every one else at the table but that dev insisted and they went with brainiac I'm even re looking through that thread to find that video where the dev's answered that to people via twitch.
but any I have feeling this has nothing to do with gear system and it's just how their meetings went with executives of WBI as well with NRS.
sadly unlike the animated show side other parts of Warner aren't all in the same head space in what will and can work. and there are some difficult people that don't think if some character like plastic man will work .
Even though people from the fanbases have been receptive of both animated and when do do it in video game. they the makers act surprised when they shouldn't . and the live action side of tv is even funnyer when they do fallow what animated side has done.
yet they still go the opposite to often and get not as good result when they do that. it's just how things are.
this has nothing to do with the gear system, but with some thing else and while do agree with havok that beast boy should be doable
it might like how having smart AI is to the video game industry where alot of people complained how dumb the NPC ai is in games like resident eveil or left or dead or prince of persia the game . but when ken Levin did bio shock infinity and pushed the boundaries of how helpful and intelligent he and his studio made Elisabeth ai. it took some special engine to make her and it was expensive and almost sunk both 2k the publisher and ken Levin had to say go bye to his studio and the studio while it still exit's isn't making bio shock games them selves . what he did worked but it was costly.
for what ever reason NRS doesn't feel comfortable doing move sets for beast boy at this time . it may be matter of not knowing how with their style of games or they think they have make a new engine for it . (they shouldn't) but I'm some they will think that and it'll be costly. Hopefully there's dev that's worked on ether street fighter or any of the man games like the disney impossibles that not working at any of those studio's any more but is still looking for work that will help.
