Batman, Robin, The Joker, Harley Quinn, Catwoman, Bane, Poison Ivy, Mr Freeze, Scarecrow... That's a ton of Batman characters (almost 1/3 of the launch roster)!! Seriously hoping Freeze is just a skin for Captain Cold and Scarecrow isn't in the game (seriously?). Outside of those two, I'm cool with the other choices.

What's wrong with Scarecrow? He could have an interesting moveset using a scythe, needle glove, fear gas teleports, fear gas bombs, summoning creatures based on nightmares, different debuffs could be applied depending on what toxin he uses. He could mess with the opposing characters' buttons via specific toxins.

I mean when it comes to Batman villains, I've seen people suggest characters like Two-Face, Black Mask and Hush. And I can't help but shake my head there.

I think people just get too hung up on who a particular character has ties to, vs rather that character would make for a good fighter. Its the wrong approach to take for a game like this.

I'd rather they use a character like Spectre or Phantom Stranger for something like that instead of another Batman character. It seems they didn't learn from the complaints they got for the first game having way too many Batman characters. Should have just made a Batverse fighting title if you were going to include so may of his characters...

I can understand that and I agree it would be nice to have more variety. Thing is, to most casual players, Batman is their DC universe. The Batman universe alone has more characters they'd recognize than any other major DC hero. Though this is mainly because WB/DC give him so much exposure and the other DC heroes don't get as much. Though people may recognize some characters from Superman as well.

They do have to appeal to the casual fanbase somehow. As they make up the majority of the sales. One of the reasons why Street Fighter 5 is struggling in sales is because tried to appeal to the hardcore fanbase more.

I think that's why they're doing the Ultimate Edition. Even if two of those characters are Spawn and Hellboy that's still 7 slots for non-Batman characters. I'm hoping for GLC, JLD, TT characters to round out the roster.

Nailed it. Capcom's decision to release that game incomplete just to have it out before Evo was one of the worst decisions they have made in recent memory.

Gotta be that Ambush Bug reveal.

I didn't really like that bit about the DLC characters from the first game not being on the main roster ("though it doesn't mean you won't see them in the future") re J'onn, but it also seemed pretty CYA and not concrete.

Even Damien is way better than Batman. I'm really starting to dislike this game so far.

did the stream make any mention or hint of Raven?

No. Not really much of anything there other than the couple of fight streams and news of the first wave of beta invites going out today.

The game's got an aesthetic going with the costumes, and I can respect that, but man I think the costumes are really ugly.

I'm sure the customizable armor has something to do with it, but like from what we've seen of Superman's costume, the close up of Robin in the new trailer, and Batman in the new trailer... Doesn't look great.

I dont get the costume complaints. They're customizable.

It's a fighter. The outfits aren't important. Plus they'll have plenty of classic outfits I'm sure.

This, there are thousands of characters in DC, they cant please everyone. Someone mentioned Azrael and Cassndra Cain over Scarecrow which is just ridiculous because Damian Wayne is already in it and he's both put together.

Batman Beyond cowl is confirmed as a piece of gear. Really looking forward to the customization options in this game, already have the Ultimate Edition preordered.

why is it ridiculous to want Cassandra Cain? She's a character I personally want to see.

I agree after watching the Robin gameplay, he's pretty much how I envisioned Cass to play like - agile ninja with sword and batarang attacks. I would have added grappling gun attacks to the mix.

So, while I think Robin looks pretty cool, I am a bit disappointed because that does lessen the chance for Cass.

And I actually have no real problem with Scarecrow - I think they could turn him into an interesting fighter. I don't think I'd ever use him, but that doesn't mean he can't be included.

It's just that, if that leaked roster is true, there aren't a whole lot of characters I'm really interested in. Aside from Supergirl and Superman ( who's bad ), none of my favorite characters made the initial roster.

Its not ridiculous to want her, I want Orion and Cyborg Superman but I think disappointment is unjustified. Cain has never made it any mainstream Batman media to my knowledge, she's even spent half her comic life in limbo. On top of she hasn't been Batgirl in almost a decade and that role is still associated with Babs. Cains chances were outright non existent to begin with.
