The thunder- thunder- THUNDERCATS HOOOOOO!-thread

This did have that Lord of the Rings quality to it. If this were to be made into a live-action film, I can see it in the same vein as Lord of the Ring. That goes for the 2002 He-Man series as well.

This series could have been a sequel to the original if it wanted to, but it's clearly a reboot like the 2002 He-Man.

Great start. Part "Lord of the Rings" Part Avatar: The last airbender

Ssome of the scenes looked like "Spirted Away" animation with the street level scenes.

After the lizard and thundercats war I hope dogs stand up next.

It seems a few thundaran's have gotten all high and mighty about the great thundercats race. A few knocks down a peg will teach them some humility.

Wow. I am REALLY impressed with this new take on the tundercats. I like. I don't mind at all that Thundera is a kingdom on third earth and not a planet. It works for this take.

I'm a little disappointed with how they brought mum-ra into it. I felt he should have had a more 'WOAH' introduction. Don't get me wrong, killing Claudis was pretty damn huge. But when you think how they introduces him in the original... this one falls short.

But hey, overall, brilliant new take on the cats. I'm so ready for the next episode. BRING IT NOOOOOOW :D

Claudis was awesome. I hope we get to see more of the character somehow -- in flashbacks or whatever.

I wonder if they are going to keep Jagga around as a spirit that appears every now and then like in the original. Though I would want him to mainly appear to Cheetara if they do.

Yeah I was also wondering about that. After Lion-O's father mentioned their ancestors defeating Mumm-Ra the first time. I hope their ancestors and past are hinted at or fleshed out more as the series goes on.

I loved Jagga and his clerics. "Clerics. To the death!" I hope Jagga survives.

Me too.

In either case, I really enjoyed this first episode!

Pretty cool first episode. Growing up with the original, I thought I'd hate this new series, but nope, I like some of the changes they've made.

I'm actually kinda glad the Thundercats aren't the only "cats" in the whole planet.

Anyone know ifthe other mutants are going to be appearing in this? Monkian was my favorite of the villains.

More than likely. It's a big planet, and they got a quest to go on and all that.

The real question is will we see the human mofos like Hammerhand and the Berserkers or the Lunataks. Driller probably shows up as some tech they come across

Ya they already confirmed that the other mutants will be showing up but they will changing their names since Jackleman is stupid for a Jackle.

I loved the debut. It reminded my of Record of Lodoss War, and that's a good thing. They did a great job establishing the world of Third Earth. It gives the series more potential races than the first.

I wonder how they are going to progress with the show? Three of the main cats are now on a quest for the book of Omens , Mumm-Ra is now as far as I can tell is the ruler of the most powerful kingdom on third earth , and judging by what that lizard said the cats are seen as oppressors outside of Thundera, That sounds like a whole lot could happen all leading up to some awesome moments can't wait til Friday.

What a great first episode, I must say I have been waiting for a Thundercats relaunch ever since the 2002 He-Man and 2003 TMNT came out and it was more than worth the wait! Love the changes they've made so far it makes for an interesting story whilst not crushing our memories of the original show.

The twins are pretty cool, like to see more of them and of course I'm eagerly awaiting Panthros introduction

I wonder if we'll see the black pyramid? I hope so. I hope that somehow, we get more in to the myth and legend of Mum-ra, which I think we will because of his supposed connection to the eye of thundera.

Somehow my post got gobbled up.

The premier was awesome. I love the myth the show is developing. I also did not have much hope for this show but I am pleasantly surprised.

I loved the look of the show and the animation was top notch. The giant robot thingies were cool but for me the Clerics stole the show. Jaga was a badass in the old show but not he is even more of a badass. I'm not sure about Cheetara being a Cleric but given how well the show is written I think it will work out well.

I wish we had gotten more focus on Groon, his betrayal, and becoming The Destroyer. His transformation was sudden and felt thrown in. Mum-ra looked really creepy in his red robe priest form. I was also surprised to see him outside of the pyramid in that weakened form, instead of the muscle-bound creature of evil that he turns into.

I liked the Robear Burbil arm and the other trinkets in the merchant shop. They were a good foreshadowing of what is to come. I wonder what Mum-Ra meant that the Eye of Thundera was his? I also liked that the Sight beyond Sight is a product of Lion-O's destiny with the sword, rather than just an ability of the sword.

Anyway, there are too many cool things to discuss with just this one episode. Can't wait for more. I just hope it lasts a long time (and not suddenly get cancelled like Symbionic Titan) so we can enjoy all the revelations they have planned for us.

Man, what a premiere! I had my expectations tempered for this, but that was some good stuff. I'm really digging the combination of old and new that they're incorporating into the mythology.

Within that about 2 minute window where we got Lion-O doing the Thundercats call with the Sword of Omens, followed up by Mumm-Ra's (near) incantation, I near lost it. :woot:

The near-incantation was absolutely great there, way to tease us and show us one of Mumm-Ra's weaknesses.

Just saw the episode online, such a great reinterpretation of the Thundercats. I loved, loved the way they introduce the role of technology in that world....and then to have that be the kingdom's downfall. I bet Panther will then be introduced as someone that has been away for years, secretly learning how to create and manipulate the technology of that world....and engineer. Wonder who trains him.

The devil is in the details, and it was one hell of a premiere.

Part of me wonders however, is this set in the same reality as the previous Thundercats? I kind of got the feeling that these characters were kind of descendants of the old Thundercats

I know what you mean. It's like it was hinted at when Claudis was saying to Lion-O as they where fighting 'that it was the tundercats who defeated mum-ra'.

BUT, I think that was just his ancestors. Nothing to do with the old series. This seems like a full on reboot/re-imagining. Especially when Mum-ra mentioned how the eye of thundera was actually his at first. That's going to be interesting how that pans out.

I think it's one of those things that could be, but they are being kind of vague about it. I know this is technically a reboot and all, but there's really nothing that's stopping those 'Thundercats' in question as being the ones from the original story until/if they decide to somehow address that more directly later on.

Who else jumped up like a little kid when Lion-O did the classic Thundercats chant?

So Snarf is more like a pet in this interpretation, right?

Yeah. Snarf is just a pet now instead of being an annoying little...whatever he was in the original. I'm so glad that he doesn't talk now. His real name was Uncle Osbert, so that tells you how bad he sucked.

Ya. Just a pet. They can understand him but we cant. Though I know they talked about how hard it was at first to come up why there were cats who couldnt talk and acted more like pets, which they shoudlve just looked to Gargoyles ie Bronx and how there are some of them that just never evolved.
