The Premiere was FREAKING AWESOME, I LOVED IT, out of all of the hit series of the 80's, the cats were my favorites!!! They had me going with Panthro for a second, but almost immediately I realized who it was, at first I was like "what the hell" and then it hit me!!! I loved it, I can't wait to see more, this series is gonna ROCK!!!
Thundercats is off to an impressive start and I'm loving this. I too had the same thought that I hope it doesn't suffer the same fate as the 2002 He-Man series. The 80's revival is mostly complete with Transformers Prime, GI Joe Renegades, Voltron Force, and now the new Thundercats.
The characters are younger and more accessible than the originals and already they have grabbed me. I had a feeling Prune would be the traitor the moment we first saw him and then there's that sibling rivalry between Lion-O and Tygra as well as romantic feelings between Lion-O and Cheetara.
Wilykit, Wilykat, and Snarf are all cute and loveable. Hopefully Panthro will show up in the next episode because he doesn't know that Klaudius is gone and would likely be Lion-O's second-in-command.
Truly an awesome premiere. Reboots and revivals are all too commonly done in a poor way but this was great! Dare I say the best rival of an 80s toon to date? We'll have to see if this show can surpass the 2k3 TMNT.
They could have added another 45-60 mins to this and done it as a feature film. Probably not in today's world, animation is almost exclusively cgi now, but back in the day this could have been a film!
I'm just glad he doesn't talk and they aren't overdoing the comedy with him. It was just enough.
Loved it though. Has great potential. Many more stories to be told the way they have set the world up than the original. I like most of the changes they have made.
yea the animation was very good. i also liked that the kingdom was full of other people. the old cartoon it was just the main cast we usually saw on the planets. i like the kingdom route, really cool to see such a huge populous.
I say good. More cartoons need violence. I remember people talking about the violence in cartoons when I was a kid. Hell, I think it gave kids a way to relieve their anxiety from bullies and things like that instead of taking it out on everyone in the hallway.
Snarf is cuter in this incarnation though. Definitely near the top of the pack of the 80s revivals. I'm not usually a fan of that Asian style of animation, but it really works for this show and adds to the impact of the story telling. This show has picked up a regular viewer from this guy.
Loved the premire and how they changed things up. Espically the update with Cheetara and Tygra. Making Cheetara one of the clerics was great and we see what she may be capable of in the future through Jagga. And I just like Tygras/Lion-O's competitiveness. Cant wait to see how they will develop the thundertwins.
Mumm-Ra seemed to be an ancient lizard in this update...not sure but it just seemed like they designed him to be the lizard version of Jagga (who I wish had somewhat of a past with Mumm-Ra).
Snarf was a nice update aswell. He was to much in the original but now he is just right. I knew he was a tough decision for the creators but they shouldve just looked to Gargoyles and how there are different classes of the same species.
This kind of reminded me of The Little Mermaid if Ursula had decieded to invade the castle with outcasts of Atlantica.
Great premiere, last night. I'm really enjoying how this show is expanding upon the Thundercats lore and showing us things we've never seen before. In terms of the scope and feel of the show, it reminds me a lot of Avatar: The Last Airbender, I only hope it can be as good.
While I do like the new Lion-O, how cool was it to hear Larry Kenny (as Claudis) yell, "Thundercats hooooooo!!" one more time? I bet he had a blast doing that.
Off to a great start. I've set my DVR to record all of the episodes.
I really liked it. I would catch reruns of the old show as a kid and decided to check this one out. I watched it with my little brother, who's 12 and he liked it. The only thing we didn't like was there was a moment or two where scenes were repeated during the attack by the lizards. Came off as cheap for a show with this type of animation.
