i really want to see this, sadly its not airing in the uk till September

I was surprised at the extent of its cliffhangeriness. I wonder how long it'll be until the Thundercats as we know them are fully assembled...

This show is off to an awesome start. It is quite possibly the most ambitious animated series in Cartoon Network history.
Which makes me paranoid it may suffer the same fate as the 2002 He-Man remake.

Also I don't think this show ties into the original Thundercats. I think the showrunners are just building their own world and mythology for the show. I get it in that it's almost like referencing battles long past. It was almost like Claudus was referencing the original 1980's show. But I don't think that will work out like say Beast Wars which was a continuation of Transformers G1 mythology.
Haven't they been making it clear from the start that this is a complete reimagining? So far we've only had the pilot and there are already dozens of differences -

No planet Thundera, no time suspension capsule warp age plot hole, the major players are all native to 3rd Earth, Tygra being the adopted older brother of Lion-O, Cheetara the Cleric, Claudis not being blind, less space opera (so far), Panthro clinging to what's left of his receding hair line, racism between Thundercats and Mutants, Tygra adding a gun to his arsenal, Cheetara looking like Deedlit from "Record of Lodoss War", Thunderians living a more Medieval life style & having no belief in the existence of technology, Wilykit & Wilykat being thieves, Lion-O having the good sense to wear pants & armor that doesn't leave his gut exposed, etc.
The only things in common are the title, the character names, weapons, basic Thundercats Vs. Mutants & Mumm-Ra plot and Tygra having Wolverine's hair cut.

I know the spoiler tag probably isn't necessary at this point but I'll throw it in there anyway.

Course some people thought the 2002 He-Man & 2005's Batman Begins were prequels to the earlier properties, despite all evidence to the contrary.

loving it so far, great animation and an interesting twist on the story, though i do feel the one downside is mumm-ra's voice lacks threat and impact the original had

i just hope CN doesn't shaft it the way they did to the MOTU reboot

Watched the pilot drunk as hell Friday night and thought I was gonna die from multiple nerdgasms. LOVE IT

I just wish Lion-oo was built bigger like his 80s counterpart... still, an excellent show... I wished they delved more into the political sub-text/hit on more of the elements of race oppression and overt racism and hegemony and empire that was simply but so effectively dealt with in the first episode...

Muscles are passe in this day and age. Lean and lithe are what's hot.

Lion-O is supposed to physically get more imposing as the show goes on. It would be harder to show him as a young, naive prince if he was as imposing as Claudius.

Panthro, I have the same paranoia. I honestly have no expectations of the show going past season 1 but I hope for the best.

Saw this and loved it. I like the direction they chose to go with. I always wondered why Lion-O acted like Jaga was the father figure as apposed to Clawdius and this shed a little more light unto their relationship.

Like everyone else I hope it doesn't end up like the Masters of the Universe remake. Hope CN gives this one a chance.

Hey guys is there an Epic intro/theme rebooted from the original? I've looked everywhere even wikipedia no one mentions it, this is nervous times if they havent got an intro that was one of the best things about the original, this show is awesome but to make it 100% it NEEDSS that intro!

xmangambit, at SDCC, the intro was just a static sort of shot of the new logo plus this banging drum theme.

If you actually listen to the show's music there are some music cues that are clear throwbacks to the original them. I think the show is going to have an opening but it is going to be really short, so don't expect anything as cool and elaborate as the 1980's show. Or that's what the creators say.

You can though find like a trailer on YouTube that uses the classic theme with clips from the new show. I think it's pretty cool.

Thats cool I appreciate that, I noticed the cues etc etc, but I feel a Intro is a must. NOBODY does them anymore NOBODY and thats why present day animation/cartoons just fall behind and it's the reason the Japanese Market get lapsed up a lot aswell, every series Every single one has Music or a song before and after, I think it's a fundamental part of a series and it would reinvent animation for the new generation, I was bought up on he-man and thundercats and all the classics, i just havent seen anything close to that for a long time.

I have to agree about the opening theme. It was fantastic and got you pumped up for the show.

I just saw the first episode and am VERY impressed. This is probably the best "modern remake" of any of the 1980s animation/toy properties I have ever seen. Better than Mike Young's He-Man, I'll say it.

To take an almost silly, almost forgettable property from the action figure era and turn it into a dynastic fantasy tale (albeit a simplified one) is no small achievement. I see some elements of Dune, Game of Thrones, Battlestar Galactica and the Iliad/Aenid in here, and although it is "dumbed down" for a children's show, it works.

The reason for no more longer intros is that networks want more advertising time.

You could fit two 30 second commercials in the time it takes to air a long opening theme (1 minute)

I liked it. Far superior than the original in every aspects.
My only reproach is that I think the cross-guard of the Sword of Omen is a bit too small.

You mean the icon that looks like the Ace of Spades?

I've posted this on here before, but I figure that now is a good time to dust it off considering the new series is on.:awesome:

Not the icon, the guard itself which grow bigger when Lion-O use the Sight beyond Sight. I find it small.
That is not a deal breaker tho, just my observation.
